"Drigo!?"
"Drigo please hear me out! Let me explain!"
"Drigo!"
"Drigo please!"
"Drigo my son.... "
Margery called her son over and over yet she didn’t receive the answer that she wanted. In the end, she was left alone in the dungeon crying for the son that she knew she had lost. For the longest time, Margery always thought that Drigo wanted to become the King. Since he was three, she had started telling him that it was his destiny to become the next King. She trained him every single day and taught him everything to become the perfect King.
How could he do this to her?
How could his only son abandon her!?
"I told him I am going to let you die in this place..." Matthew’s voice made her freeze for a few seconds>
"You— why are you here!?"
"I just wanted to watch you suffer," Matthew said.
"You— "
"I thought you already expected my visit?" Matthew asked. "After everything that you did, I expected you to at least think about this visit. It seems that I was wrong?"
"You— " freēwēbηovel.c૦m
"Don’t worry, I am not here to kill you." Matthew had amusement wrapped around his tone. It sounded like he is enjoying this like he is enjoying everything too much. "As I said, I only came here to watch you suffer."
Margery wanted to say something but she couldn’t utter a single word. Should she be thankful that Matthew didn’t want to kill her? The answer was simple.
No. It would be better for Matthew to kill her than make her suffer in this place. It would be better for Matthew to rip her to shreds than to let her watch his reign.
"Kill me," she said. "You coward! Kill me!"
"You are just like your son... "
"Wha— "
"Pathetic."
"What!?"
"He asked me to kill you."
"What did you say?"
"Drigo asked me to kill you. He said it is better that way. You won’t have to suffer in any way. You won’t have to see him working under the new king. You won’t have to wish that you have what I have." Matthew snorted. "Isn’t that pathetic?"
Margery gritted her teeth. How could her own son ask the king to kill her? Does this mean Drigo really has no plans to get the throne back? Sure, Matthew is powerful now but there are ways to gain more power. As long as he worked harder, as long as he would do everything, as long as he is willing to sacrifice things then....
"But I won’t do that," Matthew continued. "Why would I kill the woman who made my mother suffer?" Matthew said. "I am petty but not stupid."
"Did you just come here to tell me that?"
"No," Matthew said. "Of course not. That would be such a waste of time, no?"
"Then— tell me what you want and get out of here!"
Matthew said nothing. For a few minutes, he just stared at her in silence.
"The entity who approached you.... Where is it?"
"What?" Matthew’s question totally caught her off guard. "What are you talking about?"
"The entity— that entity who approached you, telling you that he would help you. Where is it?"
"I don’t know what you are talking about."
"Really?"
"Really! I don’t understand what— I don’t know what— ugh— "Margery suddenly held her head. "Ahhh!"
"So someone indeed changed your memories," Matthew muttered. He was right. Whoever it is, it just left after obtaining what it wanted. He narrowed at the woman who was holding her head, trembling from the sudden pain that attacked her brain the moment she tried to remember the entity. It’s entertaining.
He never thought that someone would be eying this realm as well.
But why leave?
Was it because of him? Or was it because of Ava?
He cursed inwardly. He then used his shadows, leaving a few of them around the previous there. They were just there to make sure that she won’t try to kill herself or harm herself. Once she does, the shadows would immediately do their best to heal her.
This means that even if the previous Queen wanted to die, she simply couldn’t. The Shadows would save her over and over and over again until Matthew told them to stop. It would be a never-ending cycle.
After leaving the dungeons, he immediately went back to check on Ava. The dagger was still on her chest while she peacefully sleeps. He looked at her eyelids which had been constantly moving. Ava was not inside her body. To be more specific, her astral body was traveling somewhere in this realm.
And that is bad news.
The more she used her astral body, the easier it is for her to break the barrier that her father created to protect her from the other guardians. It was simple yet complicated at the same time.
Sadly, he couldn’t stop it from happening.
He narrowed his gaze. To the Shaman, Matthew’s reaction was unexpected. He was completely calm and collected and didn’t lose her cool. And this was because Matthew was confident that Ava would be able to survive this. The dagger isn’t going to affect her body in any way. But this didn’t mean that he is going to let this incident go.
No.
He is already planning for his revenge.
During the event, he is going to show them that going after Ava was the worse decision that they could ever do.
............
"She didn’t die?" old Patriarch de Cene frowned when she heard the news of his subordinate. "But they assured me that— "
"We don’t know if she’s dead. If she was then they are keeping this a secret. Someone reported seeing the King outside of the dungeon. Perhaps she had talked to the Queen about some possible solutions. After all, that dagger is unique."
"But they have a Shaman with them." The patriarch said. "The robed men assured me that the dagger could make anyone suffer before dying a horrible death. They said it belonged to their realm. Something must have gone wrong." If Ava did die then Matthew would have already canceled the upcoming event.
Something is definitely wrong here!
