"We received some news, the celebration is still going to happen." One of the de Cene family subordinates said. "There was no mention of Miss Woods but no one had seen her either."
"Should we just think that she died!?"
"Perhaps we need to send more spies to— "
"We can’t do that," Patriarch de Cene uttered. He looked at the elder of the de Cene family from near the fireplace where he had been standing since earlier. He had been staring at the fire for a few hours now. Something about it calm his raging nerves. Matthew should have lost his mind after that attack.
But not only did he not react, he just acted as if everything is normal. What is going on here?
Was he pretending? Was he trying to secretly investigate the matter? No matter how much he analyzed everything, he couldn’t seem to figure out the new King.
"We should join him," he said. "We cannot act like we did something. The de Cene family had been serving the crown for so long because of that thing. We need to have it before we think of leaving this Kingdom." Of course, leaving the Kingdom is actually an option.
In the past, many people abandoned the Kingdom because they were treated unfairly or because they just want to live away from the other Lycans. And they received no punishment for it.
But everyone action has its own consequence and the consequence of leaving is quite simple. The Lycans wouldn’t protect you from your enemies. The Lycan Kingdom made a promise a long time ago. They are going to protect anyone who is a member of their kingdom from witches and people shifters who would try to hurt them.
Of course, this has changed because of the current changes in the world. For instance, fights between shifters seldom happen because everyone wanted to avoid the attention of humans. And a shifter would never try to fight against a Lycan simply because Lycans are naturally stronger than the rest of the shifters.
So over the years, many Lycans had become confident to leave the Kingdom.
After much thought, the de Cene family Patriarch decided that it was time to leave. The Kingdom isn’t doing anything that would benefit them anymore. Plus, he had met stronger people from other realms. For example, those robed men and their subordinates.
All of them are strong.
If he allied with them instead, then he was confident that he would have stronger supporters.
But they cannot just leave this realm without the thing that their ancestors had written about.
"Patriarch with all due respect, I believe that the things written on that thing were nothing but... stories made up by our ancestor’s creative mind." One of the elders reasoned.
"Made up by a creative mind?" almost immediately, anger erupted inside him. "Do you think our ancestors would write something that would never give us any benefits?" the de Cene family was pretty well known because of their bloodline and their competitive nature.
However, this isn’t just because of their talents.
It was because of the journals that their ancestors had left them.
These journals were the reason why they had been trying to get into the King’s good side for hundreds of years!
For every generation of King, the de Cene family offered one of their descendants as one of the King’s mistresses. They don’t just want to have a simple descendant with a strong bloodline, they wanted to have the strongest one— strong enough to become the next King. And once that happens, they would be able to have the key to becoming the owner of this plane.
That’s right. A plane owner.
While it sounded too ambitious, the research that their ancestor did make it obvious that this plane should have an owner. It was said that to become the owner, one needed to become the King.
An owner of a plane isn’t just a simple title of a ruler. An owner actually had the capability to control the plane. Meaning, they could become its god. They could create storms and alter the plane as much as they want to.
An owner of a plane doesn’t really sound that bad, right?
However, until now, the de Cene family wasn’t able to produce someone strong enough to become a King. All of the women that they sent either died or just simply produced a weaker heir that isn’t even worthy to become a prince. It was useless!
But the patriarch in this generation was different.
He thought of becoming the owner too. But his approach was different.
If he could become King then... he would become the owner of this plane. Their ancestor didn’t tell him that they need strong blood to become one. All they needed is to become King.
The ends justify the means.
To achieve his goal, he built strong alliances and worked with various witches, shifters, and other humans who wanted to improve their power.
He wanted this plane and he was planning to take it no matter what happens!
"I have plans..." he said. The King already knew about the facility. This means that the King also had knowledge about the de Cene family’s involvement with them. However, he isn’t taking any action. The old patriarch couldn’t understand this.
"Plans?"
"The King wanted to corner us..." he said. This must be that witch’s idea! He thought inwardly. "You know what happens to a cornered mouse?’ he smiled. "They fight back."
"We are— "
"Prepare the troops!" the old patriarch said. "It is time for us to get it!"

"Oh?" Matthew lifted an eyebrow when he heard about the reports of his shadows. He looked at the two of them, his lips lifting into a sinister smile. He wanted to use the de Cene family to show his abilities tonight.
To get the approval of the occupants of this world, Matthew chose the most direct method and that is... force. He is going to threaten everyone. Submit or die.
But it looked like the de Cene family actually made his plans easier?
How foolish! He thought inwardly.
