"First, he is just a Lycan. I have killed more Lycans than I can count." Nero explained.
"Second, it was because he hadn’t shown his face since the coronation. It wasn’t my fault," he shrugged.
"Third, Lycans, though they are the strongest supernatural have one weakness and that is magick. How could he fight against my magick?"
Fourth, I had taken a liking to his Queen. And you know me... I always get what I want."Nero smiled before swallowing a large portion of the meat.
"If you kill the King then the shifters would probably know about you," she said with a proud smile on her face.
"And... should we care about them?" he asked. "It’s not like we could keep our existence a secret. The fact that the humans only gave us this small space was embarrassing enough. It is time that we show them our fangs, don’t you think so?"
"Ah... hearing you mention that is making me giddy."She got up and pressed a button from what looked like a remote. The floor not far away from where they were standing moved, slowly morphing into a stair leading down. "Shall we?" she asked.
"What about my food?" he immediately complained.
"Have it once you see it."
Seeing his mother’s excitement, he lifted an eyebrow before cleaning his lips with another napkin. Then the two of them walked down the stairs. After a few minutes, they arrived in what looked like a laboratory, surrounded by glass. But this one only had one specimen.
It was a human, a female human strapped on the black bed. She was naked and bald, her blank unblinking eyes stared at the ceiling.
"What—"
"She’s been awake for a few days. She sleeps for eight hours. She consumed food through the machines," she said. "She’s ready."
"You— You are going to summon them?"
"Her body— " the woman beamed as she handed her son a tablet. "Can be considered the strongest on this planet. She’s immune to magick and any other weapon known to man. Not even a bomb could destroy her body. She could easily kill a Lycan by ripping them apart."
"What about her magick?"
"A blank slate. She could use it but not right now. We have performed so many experiments on her I can’t believe we finally succeeded in waking her up after... more than twenty years!"
"How certain are you that she would survive the summoning?"
"She would..." the woman said. "I am certain of that."
"But the celestials have... do you really think a human could handle that?"
"Oh, Nero... it seems that you have underestimated the potential of humans. Why do you think we chose this realm? Why do you think we chose these weak occupants?"
"Because of their endless potential."
"At least you have learned something."
"But— what if she still remembered something from the past?"
"Her brain cannot— "
**AHHHHHHH***
The woman’s shrill scream interrupted their conversation. The two of them looked at each other as the woman tried to fling her arms and continued screaming her heart out.
"What is going on?" she uttered. Almost immediately, people wearing white ran inside the room. Since the room was surrounded by glass, they could clearly see that the men wearing white had tried their best to restrain the woman.
To no avail.
"Gas!" someone shouted.
A black gas started appearing inside the room. Seeing this, the man wearing a lab coat immediately put a mask on. However, one of them wasn’t able to do it in time.
**THUD**
He fell to the floor the moment he inhaled the gas.
Meanwhile, the woman immediately turned weak. She struggled as she turn to look at Nero and his mother.
"Where is she?" she asked, her voice low. "Where is she!?"
"Who?" the woman asked.
In response, the woman let out a low chuckle. Then she fell to the floor, unconscious.
"What was that," the woman asked. freewebnovel-cσ๓
"You have seen something embarrassing," one of the men wearing a lab coat said. He was standing behind the woman and Nero. "Though I would admit that this isn’t the first time something like this happened. I thought we would have her under control by now. I guess we failed."
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"It happened the moment she woke up."
"You mean the first time that she gained consciousness after almost thirty years of sleeping?"
The doctor nodded. "She was hysterical, to say the least. She wanted to know where a certain person is. We still have no clue who she was talking about."
"Perhaps her family?"
"She was an orphan."
"Then— "
"We took her in when she was three. Though she had escaped on multiple occasions, we made sure to track her whereabouts and erase all traces of her. We are confident that she didn’t develop any relationships outside of this place."
The woman clenched her jaw.
"She cannot have any memory of her past. That would ruin the summoning. We need a blank slate."
"I understand," the doctor answered. "We have been trying to fix her. We honestly thought that we succeeded this time."
"You didn’t!" the woman hissed. "I want everything about her past erased. Do whatever you can. The blood moon is coming!" With that, the woman marched out of the laboratory leaving Nero and the doctor alone.
"Strange," Nero said.
"Hm?"
"That woman... it feels like I have seen her before." Nero has seen the woman asleep in the past. But this was the first time seeing her awake. This was the first time that he saw her expressions and heard her voice. And for some reason, he found her very attractive.
And strangely enough, he felt like he had seen her before.
"Young master... you have seen her a couple times." The man smiled.
"Not when she was awake." He tilted his head. "Very strange." But he had no time to think about it. Just like his mother, he walked out of the laboratory. Soon enough, he had forgotten about the woman.
Why wouldn’t he?
He is going to the Lycan’s plane!
He is going to see that beautiful Queen!
