Chapter 452: Trials 3

But that isn’t the ending of the woman’s story.

"He killed us," the woman said. "He plunge his sword into our hearts not knowing he would be bound with us forever." Suddenly the woman let out a blood-curdling laughter that sounded more like she was crying and wailing.

"He plunged his sword into our hearts not knowing that he would have to stay with us forever!"

This sounded like the Lycan’s love, Ava thought inwardly. However, that story involves angels, right?

And that happened on earth!

This one, however, clearly happened here! On this very plane.

Another laughter escaped Ava’s lips. By now, it looked like she was talking to herself but there were actually two different voices. One of them has Ava’s voice and the other is the voice of another woman.

"The cursed is within this plane," Eve uttered through Ava. "Their bites can no longer turn other humans into their kind. They are strong only when they have a mate and once they lose control, they will lose their sanity. The only ones that could help them out are their mates. Three curses.... One for each thrust!"

Ava frowned. Three curses.

So, what does that mean?

"The plane was made of tears and witches. Suffering and agony. The plane can only be owned by another witch."

"What?" Ava asked. What about Matthew? Why would he come— did he perhaps know this ahead of time?

"The Lycans would try to get witches to do their job but the plane would never bow down to anyone! The plane will only bow down to a witch mate of a Lycan King!"

Ava’s heart drummed against her chest.

"Impossible," she uttered. Lycans and Witches cannot be mates. She figured that the only reason why she became Matthew’s mate was that she wasn’t supposed to be here. Her father wasn’t normal. She wasn’t normal.

"You are asking the impossible!" Ava said. And just like that, the woman let out another sinister laughter.

The woman didn’t have to say it. Ava understood. Eve didn’t want anyone else to own the plane. She purposely created an impossible condition. Well— not really that impossible— considering that she was a Lycan’s mate.

"Little witch— " Eve uttered. "You aren’t the first one who tried to claim me."

Ava said nothing. She could feel something inside her body, a weird heat from her navel that is slowly moving toward her chest.

"Ugh!" Ava staggered and started vomiting blood.

"And just like the rest... you will become a part of the witches who..."

The voice suddenly stopped.

"You are— "

This time, the mark on Ava’s right shoulder started throbbing. No. It feels like the mark is burning.

"You are— "

"A Lycan’s mate," Ava uttered in a low voice.

"IMPOSSIBLE!" the woman let out another blood-curdling scream. "This cannot be! This is impossible! You are not from this realm— you are not from my realm! How did you— "

Ava managed to calm herself down. She could feel the woman’s anger inside her. For some reason, she felt like the woman and she was one.

"Impossible! What is happening!"

While she was already composed, Ava couldn’t help but feel tired. This was because something inside her body is amiss. It felt like... she is going to get sick. Like she wanted to vomit but she couldn’t vomit anything.

She immediately concluded that it must be Eve’s fault.

"Impossible! Who are you!?" Eve asked. "Who are you!"

"I am Ava," Ava said. "I am a Lycan’s mate."

"The Lycan had a sin! The Lycan isn’t supposed to find his happiness!" Eve said. "The Lycan sinned against us! The Lycan— "

"He didn’t," Ava said. "It wasn’t a sin to find your own mate. It wasn’t a sin to love someone!"

"No!" Eve responded. "The Lycan didn’t love her! The Lycan was with her because they were mates!" Even’s voice became lower and darker. "No! The Lycan didn’t love her! How could it be!? It was because they were mates!"

Ava frowned at that. The attraction that she felt towards Matthew was really strong and that was because they were mates. But she didn’t love him then. She fucked him without loving him. The thought sounded immoral to some but that happened to her.

But that was then.

It was different now.

If someone would ask her if she loved the Lycan her answer would be a definite yes. There is no going back from loving someone. The fact that they were mates only made them closer, it increased their bond. But it didn’t automatically make them love each other.

And a part of her was pretty sure that it was the same with Matthew.

"No! This is impossible! You cannot be a Lycan’s mate! How could you become a Lycan’s mate? No! Why would the goddess pick you to become a Lycan’s mate but not me?"

This time, Ava’s chest started hurting. It was as if someone wanted to take her heart out. She clenched her chest and let out a curse.

" Fucker," Ava hissed. "What the fuck do you think you are doing!?" she let this woman do this because she had sympathized with her. But the woman tried to hurt her!

What the fuck?

After some more cursing, Ava straightened her back. For some reason, the soul or spirit or whatever is that that was talking was trying to possess her body. It felt like it wanted to take over her body because it wanted to kill her!

Ava let out another curse. Then she used an ancient spell to try and overpower the witch.

"Hahahahaha! Did you really think you will win against the one who created the plane?" Eve cackled like the villain of some horror story. "You will never have your body!"

"Well, Eve..." Ava started. "Fuck you!" she held her breath but just as she was about to use a spell that might harm her own body, a white light suddenly exploded from the ring that Matthew gave her, the arsunite that he used to propose. A loud explosion erupted in her brain.

Then there was silence.

A deafening silence.
