Chapter 453: Trials 4

"How could you do this!?" the Shaman had a dark look on his face as he stared at Matthew. "How could you bring her into this place knowing that the legend might be true!"

Matthew said nothing.

"A witch— she might become one of the thousands of witches that were sacrificed to create this plane!" the older man continued. He stared at Matthew’s calm facade. "You are out of your mind! She might be strong but how could she even fight against a dark witch from another realm? That was a dark magician who dared to sacrifice the souls of witches!"

"Didn’t you just say it was a legend?" Matthew countered.

"Legends are legends for a reason,’ the Shaman gave him a dirty look. "If something happened to her— "

"Nothing will happen to her."

"You seemed so sure about it."

"Because I believe in her."

"How absurd. A dark magician isn’t as simple as the witches from Earth."

"Oh, I know," Matthew smiled. "Trust me... I know."

"Why didn’t you come with her?" Baba who was calmly standing next to the Shaman asked.

"Because he couldn’t," the Shaman answered.

"What does that mean?"

"He tried to. But he couldn’t. Only a witch is allowed inside." freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

"Does that mean the legends are true?"

"Perhaps," the Shaman said. "There is no smoke without fire. Even if the legends aren’t true, they came from somewhere." The thing about multiple realms and magic is the fact that someone out of nowhere may appear without any explanation whatsoever. Isn’t this the reason why most dream walkers who wanted to walk through realms always ended up in trouble?

Walking through realms can be very fun but it is very dangerous too.

Each realm has its very own rules and laws. They have different gods, different environments, different air, and occupants! In fact, most of the realms have an environment that cannot support human life.

The Lycan’s plane is one of those planes that had weird conditions. For instance, electricity doesn’t work here. It simply doesn’t exist and cannot be supported in this world. To create light, one needed to use magick. Second, the seasons are a bit different in the plane too!

The only explanation that the Shaman could come up with is that the one who created the plane designed it based on their own realm. That means, that the one who created this plane isn’t from Earth!

Who knows what kind of world was that place?

This plane didn’t even have a sun yet there is still light and dark!

Since the Shaman arrived, he had discovered more and more bizarre things that could make anyone shiver in fear. For instance, he knew that this place had been cursed. This was the reason why Ulva and the previous King easily took over everything. It was as if this plane was made to make the Lycans suffer!

"It is the only way," Matthew said. At first, he didn’t intend to take Ava to this place. He knew it would be dangerous. Ava is an empath, meaning, she could feel everyone’s emotions around her. This means that she would feel all the resentment and anger surrounding this place.

However, he didn’t have any other choice.

He wanted to own this plane so the other guardians couldn’t touch anyone in there. Once he owns the plane, the other guardians won’t be able to sense Ava as long as she is inside this place. They couldn’t chase her or touch her or harm her. This would be Ava’s safe place, a plane that would protect her.

But his plans completely changed when he realized that he couldn’t get inside this place.

Now, he didn’t know if this was because he was not just a Lycan or because of something else. All he knew is that he couldn’t get inside the core. Meaning, he couldn’t claim it for himself.

Left with no other choice, he convinced her to come with him.

If he couldn’t become the plane’s owner then... he is only left with Ava.

"Becoming this plane’s owner means being tied to this place," the Shaman said.

"What does that mean? Do you mean she can never go back to— "

"Yes. However, since she’s a dream walker then that rule wouldn’t apply to her. But the guardians of the realms won’t let someone like her who could threaten their authority just randomly visit their realms."

"So— "

"Many people would be watching her."

"You knew about the guardians?" Matthew asked the Shaman.

"I have lived for hundreds of years. Did you really expect me to spend all those years sleeping and doing nothing?" the Shaman said. "I have traveled into other realms in the past and had stumbled upon some documents about the Guardians. Though... I have never met one."

Matthew’s lips twitched. The Shaman isn’t even aware that Ava had the blood of a pure guardian. Obviously, Matthew is planning to hide this for as long as he can.

In fact, the other reason why he was so confident that Ava could pass the test is because of her bloodline. A guardian has a very special and powerful bloodline that could easily make them as powerful as Gods. Moreover, it would be easier for them to own a plane because they were already made to guard one.

"That’s surprising," Matthew said. There can only be one Guardian in each realm. And most of them are pretty illusive. They don’t care about other realms or what is happening inside their own realm. All they cared about is their responsibility to keep their realm safe from the occupants of the higher realm who wanted to expand their power by conquering a lower plane like Earth.

Speaking of Earth, Ava’s father claimed that he was Earth’s guardian but... the planet hadn’t had any guardian for thousands of years. Something must have happened, he thought inwardly.

"The Guardians... are pretty possessive creatures," Baba added. "I have read about them in the library. Apparently, Earth’s had no one. The guardian had left and was never seen again." Baba said. "Is that true?"

However, before Matthew could answer her, a dark portal appeared not far away from where Ava vanished earlier. Then the three of fell saw Ava fall. Matthew quickly caught her, preventing her body from hitting the ground.
