Chapter 458: Confrontation with Nero 4

"The King’s tombstone contains all the history books that have been passed down from the previous Kings to the new ones. Only the King and Queen have the right to visit the tombs." Matthew explained as he held Ava’s hips, pulling her closer to him. He then kissed her temple. "We are going as soon as we can."

"As soon as we can?" Ava lifted an eyebrow.

"Someone wanted to greet us," Matthew smiled at Drigo then looked in another direction. Ava immediately frowned. She had been looking in that direction earlier as she knew that someone was watching her from that place. What surprised her was the fact that Matthew could also feel it.

"Someone?" Drigo asked. "I thought the Werewolves already left?"

"Who told you that I am talking about a werewolf?" Matthew said. "Though, I am wondering why he was still hiding."

Drigo gave them a worried look.

"Show yourself," Matthew suddenly muttered.

"I didn’t expect that someone could actually sense my presence this time," a man that looked like in his early thirties appeared not far away from them. He was wearing a dark blue long coat, a cunning smile plastered on his face. "It makes me wonder how a mere Lycan could possess that power."

Ava said nothing. It looked like the man didn’t know that Matthew wasn’t just a Lycan.

"I don’t think someone from your realm would have access to this plane. So I am going to conclude that you came here through Earth. That means... you are one of them."

"Them?"

"The other occupants from the other realms who wanted to own Earth," Matthew said. Despite this, he never let go of Ava. Something about this was telling Ava that he wasn’t planning to let go very soon. She couldn’t help but wonder why.

Was he trying to hide her from the man?

"Ah..." the man put his hands behind his back. Right now, he looked like nothing more but a scholar. "We call ourselves otherworlders. I am not sure if a Lycan like you would know or even care what it meant."

"Why do I get the feeling that you are looking down on the Lycans?"

"Is there a reason why I would not look down on your kind?"

Matthew narrowed at the blatant insult. Even Drigo and Ava couldn’t help but frown. This man was a guest on this plane. And yet he dared insult the host? Was he stupid? Or this was a deliberate action to get a reaction?

If the latter is the reason, then.... The man must have wanted to get into a fight.

Still, Ava found it quite pathetic.

The attempt was pretty obvious.

"Where do you come from?" Matthew asked. "You sound so courageous to someone who had to run away from his very own world."

"Courageous? That bullshit." The man snorted. "You can call it confidence. Naturally, someone who is stronger would look down on others. Isn’t that the natural law of man?"

"But we aren’t simple men... are we?"

"You are right," the man snorted. "Ha... it seems that you knew about us."

Matthew didn’t respond.

"Have I angered you?" the man continued taunting. "Ah, I have heard that Lycans can be pretty shallow and dense. I also heard that the Lycans had been experimenting on their kind to become more powerful. I laughed at those insane rumors until I met you. Your knowledge seemed to have surpassed an ordinary Lycan’s knowledge."

"I don’t know if I should take that as a compliment."

"Compliment?" the man chuckled. "My poor Lycan, I am trying to insult you and your kind, and yet you wanted to take my words as a compliment?"

"You just stated the truth," Matthew said. "I don’t think any of it is considered an insult, no?"

"Hahahaha!" the man started laughing. "It seems that this is going to be a very... very entertaining first meeting... " Then he narrowed his eyes at Matthew. "Though I am wondering why it looked like you weren’t scared of me."

"So you come here thinking that everyone will be scared of you," Matthew stated almost immediately. "Interesting notion. Foolish. But interesting nonetheless."

"You- "

"Perhaps you misunderstood something," Matthew said. "Perhaps you thought I called you to welcome you to the plane." His face grew serious. "I did not."

"Oh..."

"I called you because I wanted to let you know that I sensed you the moment you walk inside this plane. Considering that this isn’t exactly the first time that you visited this place, I am assuming that you came back because you wanted something? I was expecting a deal or an alliance. But it looked like this wasn’t the case. "

After the Lycans announce those changes, many supernaturals had been frequenting this plane. Not only that, but there were also otherworlders just like this man who visited the place in the past few days.

Matthew felt everyone’s presence, but he didn’t call them out because he thought they were just curious about the plane. After all, this was the first time in a long time that the Lycans opened their doors to the other supernaturals.

Many were simply curious about the plane, while others were considering moving to this place.

"Arrogant," the man suddenly smirked. "I am not sure why you are acting like that, but perhaps... it was because you have not heard my name before. I am called— "

"Was that really important?" Matthew interrupted him. "State your goal, then you can leave," Matthew added. "I have more important things to attend to."

"You— "

"State your purpose!" Matthew said.

"Purpose?" the man’s face turned a deep shade of red as he glared at Matthew. "Why don’t I just show you my fucking purpose!" He swung his arm. A swish sound followed. Luckily, Matthew, Ava, and Drigo were quick enough to avoid the sudden attack.

But the walls of the room weren’t as lucky.

**BANG**

Ava’s eyes widened as she watched the whole wall collapse. Then she glared at the man.

"How dare you ruin my palace!" Ava hissed, and she meant that quite literally. The palace might be the King’s, but she fucking owned the damn plane!

Seeing something inside this plane being destroyed somehow triggered something inside her.
