"Where’s he?" Ava asked Simon when she woke up. It had been three days since they went to see Baba. And Matthew had been spending his time in his home gym, beating the poor punching bag to submission.
And by submission, she meant, until Matthew’s gloveless hand would destroy the poor thing.
"In the gym..." Simon uttered.
"Still not coming out?" No sleep, no eating, no talking. The man has been doing this for three fucking days. Just how strong was he? She wondered.
"No mistress."
"Stop calling me that."
"Master would beat me up if I did that."
She rolled her eyes. She spent the past few days reading about mates, she wanted to understand more of this new dynamic. Moreover, she wanted to see if they could do something about this marking thing.
"I need to go see my brother."
"Our people has been following them around and..."
"Marylis?"
"She hasn’t done anything suspicious and we still haven’t found anything hard about her."
She cursed inwardly.
She saw how happy Phil was when he married Marylis. And she didn’t want to change that just because of a baseless suspicion.
"Anything about Silver flames?" she asked.
"No movement but we found their young master. Up north. I have the exact location."
"So, he is hiding?"
"I would assume so... yes."
"His mother?"
"She’s in Alaska. As expected, she arrived last night."
She nodded.
"They are going to let that man leave this place. We need to see her as soon as possible."
Simon nodded. "But the master..."
"I will talk to him." While she knew what Matthew had been doing in the past few days, she hadn’t really made any huge effort to talk to him. It was partly because of what Baba had said.
She wasn’t some dumb bimbo who would sacrifice everything for a man she barely knew. There might be a mate bond between them but Ava was far too selfish to let him mark her knowing the impossible consequences.
And Matthew...
Well Matthew would do everything to fight his wolf from marking her.
Thus, they have been standing at an impasse.
She thought it would be best to stay away from each other until they sorted things out.
And maybe Matthew thought the same as he had been hiding in his gym since they came back.
Ava stopped walking when she suddenly saw a woman standing just outside the door of the in house gym.
"Matthew... I came here for you. Aunt and Uncle wanted us to talk. Are you really going to avoid me forever?"
Ava looked at Simon and the latter lowered his head. Guilt seeping through the man’s calm facade.
Ava’s eyes drifted towards the man standing next to the woman. Marko Calida. Matthew’s assistant.
"Matthew! Open the door!" the blonde stumped her feet, her face flushed. Irritation and anger swirled around her. As if on cue, she turned towards Ava.
"Who’s she?"
"Miss Wallace, I already informed you. Mr. Graydon is not available. Please leave."
"Not available?" the blonde snapped at Marko. "He’s been like this for a year! What do you mean he is not available? I am his fiance! Matthew! Open the door and talk to me!"
The word fiance made Ava’s ears twitch. As if on cue, a sudden breeze blew past them. Knowing that there was no open window nearby, everyone frowned.
Everyone, except Ava.
She knew exactly what was going on.
The sudden chill came from her.
And it was unintentional. Even she was surprised at her own reaction.
"What was that?" the woman asked. "Simon, did you leave a window open somewhere?"
Soon, the three Lycan’s stared at Ava.
"It was you..." the woman hissed. "A witch." She gasped as if the fact that Ava was a witch could fucking change her life. Ava’s irritation doubled.
"Niana, please leave. Matthew said he won’t see you. So please leave." Marko’s words attracted the woman’s attention.
"Why would I leave? I am about to marry him. I am about to become the wife of your boss. This house is basically mine!" Seeing Marko’s helpless look, the woman called Niana smirked. "Did you hear that Matthew? I came here after almost twenty four hours of flying to see you. And I am not planning on going anywhere unless you talk to me about our marriage!"
"Miss Wallace... please... Master already said— "
"Damn you Simon! Damn you Marko! I am standing here until Matthew comes out, be a man and talk to his woman."
Ava snorted when she heard those words. She didn’t understand why but she could feel her body simmer with anger and irritation.
Damnit!
She wanted to break something!
"What are you snorting for?" Niana lifted an eyebrow. "And why the hell did you let this bitch in? Matthew hates them. Take her away Simon. I don’t want any witch inside this mansion."
It was as if the atmosphere suddenly froze. No one said anything.
"What? Do you want me to drag this bitch out?"
Hearing the poison in the woman’s voice, Ava squinted.
"Matthew... deal with your woman or else."
With that, she turned around, barely able to control her own anger.
"Hey! Where the hell are you going?"
Before the woman could do anything, Ava raised her hand and the chandelier just above them fell into the floor.
A loud crashing sound filled the room.
Ava turned. She smirked at Niana’s aghast expression before she started walking away.
"The next’s going to separate your head from you body..." Ava said. "Bitch."
"Mistress...."
"Simon..." Ava stopped walking. She looked at the man, her eyes squinted. "Do you feel it? The sudden change in your heartbeat?"
Surprised, Simon let out a low growl. The man was angry but he couldn’t do a thing to her. Not when he couldn’t even move his body.
Sweat trickled in the man’s face.
"I don’t like killing..." Ava smiled. "But that does not necessarily mean, I don’t have a way or two to make others suffer."
"I— "
"You knew Matthew was not in the gym yet you led me there. You wanted me to know about that woman, right?" Ava chuckled. "I knew you hated me since the first time you knew I was a witch."
She took a step towards him and whispered.
"I am watching you." Ava uttered before she sauntered towards Matthew’s garage.
A smirk appeared on her face.
Matthew and her, are going to have a long conversation ahead.
