Chapter 478: A Crazy Family

"You wanted the two of us to be here!" her mother said, her voice strained. "You wanted this to happen!"

Ava frowned. Why? Why would he do everything just to make them —

"Leave!" her mother suddenly yelled. "Leave! Now!"

"What?" freewebnøvel.coɱ

"Too late," Ava’s father snorted as he smiled. "You will never be able to leave this place!"

"What is he going to do?" Ava asked. Until now, she couldn’t understand the man’s motive.

"Leave!" her mother yelled then a lightning bolt attacked her father.

A loud bang echoed.

Ava let out a surprised curse. The thing is if one of those bolts would accidentally hit her, she was very confident that she would become a crispy human, she would die without even knowing what happened.

Though her shield is up, she wasn’t confident that it would be enough to protect her.

"You made me believe that you are different," Ava’s father hissed. "When did you figure it out!?"

Ava’s mother only responded with a snort before she sent another lightning bolt toward the man. Then she hissed and disappeared from where she was standing. The next thing that Ava knew, the two are already fighting with their hands.

This was the first time that she had seen a witch fight like a shifter! Was it because of the shifter’s blood that they used on her?

However, Ava knew that she had no time to think about this. She immediately ran towards the exit and teleported down and down until she arrived at the place where the prisoners are located. She immediately used every knowledge that she had learned from the shaman to create a portal, sending them out of this place— no out of the whole south pole.

After she created the portal, she used her magick to levitate people into the portal.

"Samuel!" she exclaimed when she spotted Samuel. He wasn’t unconscious but just like the people next to him, he had been bound by chains that cannot be destroyed by magick.

Fuck! Ava cursed inwardly.

"Why are you here!?" Samuel asked.

"You have to leave this place. It’s going to explode very soon!" Ava said.

"But— "

After rummaging through the room, she found a key and used it to open the cells. Then she used another key to open the chains that were used on the prisoners.

"What the— " she looked at Broody who was one of the prisoners staring at her. "Why the hell are you here?" she asked.

"Amelia and my son are here."

"Then go and get them," she had no time to listen to his words.

"Ava — "

"Not now Samuel. Go ahead and helped the rest towards the portal. I won’t be able to control it much longer. This place is going to collapse. You have to leave." Ava said. Not long after, she opened another cell. This time, the ones inside were kids and some pregnant women.

Another cell had older shifters that seemed too weak to move. Luckily, a lot of other people helped them up and dragged them toward the portal.

"What about you?" Samuel asked her.

"I will meet you outside," Ava said. She then disappeared and made her way to the even lower floors. She could still feel the two people fighting. It seems that they are of equal strength!

She could immediately leave this place but she had other goals.

The relic that she thought she found earlier was still there. She needed to get to it before the two noticed that she was no longer there. After a few more minutes, she found Aliah who was trembling on the floor. A dark shadow hovered over her body. For some reason, this shadow reminded her of Matthew.

"Hm?"

Ava’s eyes widened when she noticed that the fighting had stopped.

She immediately teleported towards the relic and ignored Aliah’s body. And finally, she found it.

Stunned at its appearance, Ava froze. Frowning, she took a step towards the light blue deformed stone that looked like it was floating in the middle of a circular room made of glass. A blue sheen can be seen surrounding the stone.

"If you want this to end, you must get that stone and absorb it— "

Ava’s father suddenly appeared not far away from her.

"What are you doing here?" she asked.

"That would— destroy the passage from this realm to the other realms. It would end everything." her father said.

"Where is she!?" how come this man was still acting like this?

"It will destroy your body."

"What?"

"You cannot handle the power of a god’s remnant."

"What are you talking about?"

"Ava!" her mother suddenly appeared, her clothes were now full of holes, her hair was disheveled. "You cannot touch that. It will kill you."

Ava realized that the two were staying at least ten feet away from her.

Was it possible that it was because they couldn’t approach the stone?

"So you cannot approach me," Ava said. If this two could get close to the stone, they would have grabbed her by now. She had a feeling that they were still hiding something from her. "What is that stone?"

"Once you touch it, he would be able to get that stone from you," her mother stated. "He wanted that stone. That is going to make him a god."

"Oh please...." Ava’s father said. "That stone is a remnant of another god! It won’t help me ascend! Why don’t you tell her how it would close the portals? It would put a stop to everything!"

"That is not true!"Her mother insisted. "If you touch it... he will immediately get it away from you and kill you."

"I would never— "

"The only reason why I wanted you to be together was so Ava could get that stone and get rid of it. It was her task. She must take care of her responsibilities!" Ava’s father said. Then he looked at her. "The stone is the one giving power to the portals and passages to the other realm. Once you remove it and absorb the stone, you would be able to close all of it. Everything. The other occupants of the other realm won’t be able to do anything!"

"How did you know that!?" Ava asked.

"Stop lying Adriel! That stone is a remnant of a god! She won’t be able to handle it. Just like how you won’t be able to handle its pure form. So you need her to touch it first for her to receive the brunt of the power of the stone! Stop lying Adriel! I know why you wanted that stone! I know why you wanted both of us to be here!"

"Hah! It seems that the years that you made yourself sleep had gotten into you! I am the guardian of this world! I am more powerful than your distant gods, especially in this place! This is my domain!" her father said.

"Then... take it," Ava uttered.

"What?"

"This is your domain so take it."

"Ava, you cannot do that!" her mother said. "You cannot just give him the stone."

"He won’t be able to handle it, right?" Ava snorted. "He won’t be able to live if he touches the stone. So let him touch it."

"You— I cannot physically intervene! I am the guardian!"

"Lies! They wanted you to die a long time ago. You have broken the laws of the guardians!"

"You— "

*BANG*

*BANG*

Once again, the two started fighting. Fireballs and water spears and light bolts threatened to destroy the area. Ava could only imagine the damage that would happen if this place was not reinforced by magick.

She looked at the two and then towards the stone who seemed to beckon her to approach it.

"Right..." she chuckled. "I guess crazy runs in the family, huh?"

With that, Ava suddenly approached the stone. She immediately realized that it was bigger than it seemed. However, the moment she touched it, the stone suddenly morphed into something as small as her fist. She quickly grabbed it and wasn’t exactly surprised to see the two had already stopped fighting.

The two of them were staring at her. Even though they looked disheveled, she could clearly see the greed in their eyes. Whatever this stone is, they cannot just approach it or touch it.

And maybe that was the reason why they were waiting for Ava to touch it.

How did it become like this? Why was she born into such a crazy family?

Ava glared at the two.

"What is going on!?" she asked. "I want to know the truth or I will absorb this stone!"

"You cannot absorb that— " Ava’s mother said. "It would kill you."

"Oh... watch me," she opened her palm revealing a black seal that was given by Lucas. The man told her that this would help her absorb the stone.

"If you absorb the stone, you will become one of the guardians." Ava’s father uttered. "You wouldn’t want that, right? You wouldn’t want to stay far away from your mate."
