Chapter 481: Never to be Seen Again 2

Ava’s heart thundered against her chest just as the car came to a screeching halt, it’s bumper just a few inches away from her knees.

She blinked and took a step back, her phone was already on the road. Then she blinked and looked at the man who grumpily walk out of the car.

"Are you hurt?" he asked, his steps careful as he approached her.

Out of nowhere, the smell of dark chocolates assaulted her senses. She blinked in confusion. The last thing she remembered was... talking to that old man. She couldn’t remember agreeing to anything that he said.

Without saying a word, she pinched her arm, trying to determine if she was still in a dream. Or perhaps... she was walking down memory lane?

When she was a child, she had this belief that dead people would see fragments of their lives when they die. Is this what has been happening to her?

"Hey, are you alright?" Matthew who was standing a few inches away from her inched closer. He touched her shoulder. "Look— "

She ignored him. Instead, she picked up her phone and look at the date. It was the exact same date when she met him.

They are currently in the parking lot of the hospital, staring at each other. The lights flickered.

Was the old man trying to screw with her?

She looked around.

She realized it was the exact same scene.

"Should I take you to— "

"Home..."

"What?" he asked.

"Take me home," she uttered. The old man said that Matthew would remember her. So... why was he acting as if he doesn’t know who she is?

"I don’t understand," the man looked confused. "Do we know each other?"

Ava’s frown grew deeper. What the hell is happening now?

However, just before she could say another word, Matthew smiled.

"You look like you had seen a ghost," he beamed. In response, she reached out and pinched his side.

"What is happening?" she asked. "I remember— "

"Should we get some coffee?"

She frowned at that.

"The first time I asked for coffee you said no," Matthew said.

"As I should."

"And here I thought you liked me for my looks."

She rolled her eyes and walked towards the passenger side of his car. She got in without saying anything. She was still confused and she felt that she really needed an explanation right now.

Matthew started driving and soon enough, they arrived at a cafe.

"What is happening?" she asked after they made an order.

"Someone turned back time," Matthew said.

"Why?"

"To— change everything."

"I need to know what is happening."

"There are different realms, different realities and all of them are real," Matthew looked around.

"I know. But that is not what I was asking."

"Even Deities have their own rules," Matthew reached out and held her hand, squeezing it. "One becomes a fallen deity when they break one of those rules."

"And? I did that..."

"Yes. You broke a rule and the cosmos removed your divinity." Matthew said. "I removed mine to follow you. And that isn’t supposed to happen."

"So— "

"So, I made a blunder, a sin. It was the sin of a deity who fell in love and stupidly gave up everything to follow the woman that he loved."

"So you— "

"I traveled through dimensions waiting for you to reincarnate and I have created some— passageways that some people have used to travel through dimensions and caused some intentional chaos," Matthew said.

"The reason why the cosmos wasn’t able to sense you was that you threw away your divinity?" she asked.

"Yes."

"And when you got it back— "

"The cosmos responded," Matthew looked at the man who gave them their orders. "Thank you," he smiled.

Ava frowned. "So— "

"So he gave you a choice to be with me or... continue your life in that lifetime."

"And— " and she didn’t exactly say that she would want to turn back the time.

"And I guess we chose the same?"

"He talked to you as well?" she asked.

"He showed me things..."

Ava swallowed. If her guess was right, that old man must be chaos itself. He showed her the suffering of Matthew and in response, she begged him to stop it. She told him that she would do everything to save him.

That old man must have shown Matthew the same thing too! And— he had the same answer as hers.

"Did he ask you to sacrifice yourself for me?" she asked, unable to stop herself.

"Yes."

Ava nodded. She was right. His answer must have been the same as hers. Then that old man sent them back in time.

"So... what are we supposed to do now?"

"Close the portals for a start."

"Then?"

"Beat the bad guys this time, with fewer people involved."

"And?"

"Then let time take its course."

"Are we staying here then?"

"Don’t you want to?"

For some reason, she expected him to say that they would travel through the universe and live happily ever after. As if sensing her thoughts, Matthew laughed.

"We are closing all the passageways that I created," Matthew said.

"You mean, we are traveling through the cosmos?"

"Yes."

"But I can’t— "

"You have half of me now," Matthew said. "The rise of the darkness," he added.

"The prophesy."

Matthew nodded at that. "I doubt the prophecy is still there now."

"What do you mean?" Ava asked.

"This world will know nothing of us and our past."

"You mean— "

"We no longer exist in the memories of those who knew us."

"Are you saying that— Phil and Marylis and everyone else forgot about us?" She already knew the answer to her question yet hearing it again was some form of assurance that she wasn’t just hallucinating things.

"Yes."

"Even Baba?"

"Yes."

"What about the Shaman?"

"He will soon remember if— he ascends and moved to the Celestial realm. He had a fragment inside him and had a chance to ascend."

"So— no one else will remember us then?" Ava asked once again.

"No one."

"Well— " that’s a bit sad.

"I know," Matthew said. "I guess... the Lycan needed to pay for his sins."

"The sins that he stupidly did for the woman that he loves?" she asked and he nodded in response.

"So— is this going to be our forever?" Ava asked.

"Don’t you want to travel the cosmos with me?" he eyed her ring.

"I— " she frowned. "May I think about it?"

This time, it was he who frowned.

Seeing this, Ava laughed again. "Got ya," she said.

Then the two smiled at each other. After telling her everything that she needed to know about what happened with her parents, the involvement of the Guardians, and the fact that she had actually absorbed half of Matthew’s divinity that Ava’s father was able to collect over the years, Ava could only sit there, flabbergasted.

According to Matthew, her father wanted to become a deity himself. But he couldn’t touch the stone as he didn’t have the blood of God. So, he traveled the universe trying to perform experiments on the occupants of other realms.

That was when he stumbled upon the nightmare realm where he met Aliah.

The two then started experimenting on people until they discovered Earth thousands of years ago. So, they aimed to create a perfect human with the blood of the most powerful occupants in the universe.

Then they came up with Ava’s mother.

Sadly for them, when Ava’s mother tried to touch the stone, her body took a backlash and started to deteriorate.

So, they did something that was supposed to be impossible— or at least Ava’s father did. Aliah didn’t know about Ava since Ava’s father wanted to keep her a secret. He wanted to hide her from Aliah so he could reap the benefits on his own.

Once Ava’s mother fell into a coma, Ava’s father disappeared and stopped talking to Aliah. In fact, Ava’s father was just hiding in the shadows trying to manipulate everything as Ava grew up to what she currently is.

It was also revealed that Ava’s mother was actually working with her father and she... loved him. There was no other explanation aside from the fact that she loved the man who raised her and experimented on her.

It was crazy.

And yes, she did come from a family of crazy people. She always wonder why she seemed to have the tendency to act like one. Now, she knew the reason why. Still, she thought it was absurd.

The two of them just wanted to have a child to use her body for the stone! What kind of lunacy was that?

What they didn’t know was the fact that Ava became Matthew’s mate. Or maybe it was just a part of fate. Maybe this was just fate trying to screw everyone.

Either way, Ava was still happy as without her parents she wouldn’t have met Matthew.

"So... since I have half of you... does that mean... I am a deity now?"

"Yes. Not as powerful as the others but remember... a Deity can never go inside a realm. Since we aren’t really considered a complete Deity, we can visit other realms to— close those passages that I mistakenly created," he gave him a boyish grin. In response, smiled.

"So... are you ready?" Matthew asked.

"Ready to rule over the world?" she responded.

He shrugged. "Ready to make babies that will rule the world," he then chuckled.

"You are crazy."

"Crazy enough to give up being a god to follow you around?" he asked

"Yeah... that crazy," Ava laughed.
