"You are not welcome here... Lycan!" an old man’s voice thundered the moment Ava and Matthew stepped out of the car. It came from the older man standing just in front of their car. He was wearing an all black suit, his long hair tied in a neat ponytail.
Now that Ava had the chance to examine their surroundings she noticed the number of trees that surrounded them. The road to the Silver Flame Coven was surrounded by spruce trees. ƒгeewebnovёl_com
These people were taking advantage of the trees and the shadows to hide from them.
"And you— " the man squinted at Ava. "A witch who abandoned her roots. How dare you visit our sacred lands after deciding to work with the Lycans?"
"I am here to see Priestess Amore..." Matthew ignored the old man’s words. His face was calm devoid of any expression. With his black leather jacket, and equally black shirt and jeans, Matthew towered over the witches surrounding them.
Seeing this, Ava calmly turned her attention to the familiar faces around her. These... These were the witches who used to be friends with Gabriella. A pang of guilt and anger rose inside her when she felt the animosity from them.
"She’s occupied right now, Lycan. Please leave..."
"Priestess Amore is harboring a criminal." Matthew said.
"Lies. Our Priestess would never do that!"
"For you to defame our Priestess..." the old man said. "You should be thankful, we are peaceful people. Or we would have cut your tongue by now."
Ava snorted. They are highly outnumbered. Currently, there are seven witches in front of them. Another two are currently hiding, watching them from the dark. So that’s nine witches.
In a fight, numbers could easily overwhelm the other party.
But Ava had a few ways to subdue six people. She thought of ways to harm them but that would immediately expose her ability. She squinted, her heart thundered against her chest.
"Gerard Parry..." Ava called out the man’s name. "It’s been a long time."
"You have no right to speak to me like that... witch."
Ava recalled that Gerard was once Gabriella’s good friend. Just like Gabriella, the man practiced Wicca. He was a warlock— though not as powerful as the others in his coven— he was considered one of the elders simply because of his age.
"Amore’s son killed Gabriella." Ava uttered, the anger inside her surged like a tidal wave. She squinted at the man as the wind that was gathering on her palm slowly made its presence.
The dried trees started to dance, a whooshing sound filled the silence.
"What are you doing? You are no longer a part of Trillium! Did you really think you can just use spells whenever you want to?’
Ava scoffed as the smell of burnt logs spread.
"Ava Woods! Aren’t you embarrassed to actually agree to come with a Lycan? The very race that— "
"Gerard Parry..." Ava’s lips twitched. "You are still as stupid as you were a year ago."
"You— "
"What is all this chaos?" a woman’s cold voice interrupted them.
Ava smirked. It was the eighth witch who was hiding earlier. She finally decided to show herself after sensing the spell. The woman must have realized that if Ava released the spell the effects would be devastating.
This is the reason why she deliberately used a powerful spell like this— a spell that would attract the human’s attention.
The scale of the spell could not only destroy this area. It might even be strong enough to harm the humans leaving a few miles away.
The woman removed the hood of long cloak that covered most of her face. Revealing a youthful face that didn’t match her cold voice. "Ava Woods... I am called Ester Wyvil. Whatever you are doing right now... " The woman looked like she was just around Ava’s age. Her fox-like eyes were squinted as she pursed her lips towards Ava. "Stop it."
"And if I won’t?"
"You have no right to challenge me, Ava. You are no match for me."
As if sensing the power of the witch, Matthew moved in front of Ava.
"I, Nicholas Matthew Graydon, the Prince of the Lycans, want to talk to your Priestess."
Matthew’s words attracted everyone’s attention. Earlier, they knew he was a Lycan. But the fact that he was actually a prince must have surprised them as their faces turned stiff. Ava immediately sensed the fear from some of them.
Earlier, these people were confident. Some were even showing arrogance.
Ava suspected that someone must have predicted their arrival earlier. But they didn’t know about their identities. Ava remembered Gabriella telling her that Silver Flame actually had an oracle. And this is why they had been dominating North America.
"A Lycan Prince..." Ester examined Matthew, from his face to his clothing. Soon enough, Ava sensed the woman’s admiration for the Lycan.
Ava smirked. Matthew was indeed captivating.
Too bad for them... he was considered hers.
Wait... what the hell was she thinking?
She frowned and glared at Ester. As if sensing her thoughts, Ester stared at Ava.
"You are... You actually chose to work with the Lycans? After your Trillium stunt?"
Ava rolled her eyes. Yes. These people started hating her when she joined Trillium. For some reason, they just wanted her to act like a stray witch forever.
For some reason, they just assumed she would hide forever after Gabriella’s death.
Of course, the news that she came back must have reached them. It created a snowball effect and now, Samuel, the man who saved her had been punished for god knows why.
"What did you expect me to do?" Ava spoke after a few seconds of silence. "Join a coven of people who abandon anyone that is useless to them?"
Ester frowned.
"The Silver Flames didn’t abandon your mother."
Again, Ava snorted. "I would rather not talk about the past. I came here for Amore. Let us in..."
"Or what? Ava? Are you really going to harm us?"
Ava chuckled. Was this woman for real?
Without warning, she held both of her hands towards the witches in front of their car.
*BOOM*
A loud boom shook the air. It frizzled into small electric currents that threatened to destroy anyone on its pathway. While most of the witches squatted, some were quick enough to use a spell to protect themselves. Luckily, the spell didn’t hit anyone.
"You— "
"You see Ester? I will harm anyone that threatens to hurt my boss," she flashed the woman a smug smile.
