Romeo Mclary
(The pizza delivery guy, who is believed to be the killer)
At the first sound of the thunder, Romeo frowned. He looked outside his window.
"A storm is coming," he uttered in a low, almost gentle voice. His eyes turned towards the frame that was sitting peacefully on his desk. In the frame was an image of a woman. Green eyes, brown hair and a beautiful smile that he adored, "I know you hate storms. Its alright, I won’t leave you."
Then he turned his attention back to the book in his hand. It was Dante’s, one of his wife’s favorites. He loved reading it for her as they listened to Mozart’s requiem mass.
When Romeo felt someone walk inside his room, his frown grew deeper.
"I did not allow anyone to come in." He wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone. Not after his plan failed.
He thought of the woman whose eyes were so green, it reminded him of the forest.
Just like his wife’s eyes.
They looked like gems as they glinted and sparkled in the dark.
He would have loved to have them.
But his plan failed.
"Is this how you plan to spend your day?"
Romeo lifted his head and stared at his mother.
"Why are you here?" he asked, a little irritated. She knew better than to try and bother him on his wedding anniversary.
"We need to leave." His mother made herself comfortable on the couch in front of him.
"Please don’t sit there."
"Did you hear me?" Amore asked. "I said, we need to leave! Now!"
"I am not leaving. A storm is coming."
"Romeo... She’s dead. You can’t just continue to act like this because she’s gone! Do you understand? Right now, we need to leave this place and— "
"I’m not leaving," Romeo said in finality. Then he turned his attention back to his book.
"Romeo..."
"I said. I am not leaving!"
"They know it was you."
"What did you say?" he lifted his head, surprised at his mother’s declaration.
"I said, they know it was you and the Lycans are involved."
"The Lycans?" Romeo scowled. "I have never hunted a Lycan or hurt one before."
"That’s not the point. My point is, a Lycan is after you. If you want to live then we should leave now. I already prepared a place for you. Lay low for the next six months. No more killing."
"Killing?" Romeo squinted at his own mother. "I never killed anyone."
"Oh please Romeo, I am not going to talk about this again." frёewebηovel.cѳm
"But I have never killed anyone. I just gave those women a chance. A chance of a new life."
"But you ended up killing them. Your... summoning was unsuccessful."
"It will be successful next time."
"You told me the same thing the first time that you killed someone in Europe!"
"Mother!" Irritated, Romeo slammed the book, closing it in an abrupt motion. Then he got up. "I am doing this for Letty."
"Letticia is dead!"
"But her spirit lives! I could summon her and put her body— "
"This is absurd. I already told you, a spell like this doesn’t exist! You cannot play with people from the underworld, Romeo. That is simply impossible."
"It’s only impossible because no one succeeded in the past. But I will!" Romeo’s eyes widened. "I found the perfect woman that resembled Letty. They have the same green eyes, beautiful and brave. She should be the perfect fit!"
"You said that when you killed a woman in Italy!" Exhaustion laced his mother’s words. But he ignored it.
No.
He wasn’t planning to listen to anyone who doesn’t know anything about necromancy or summoning the dead. Not when he was about to succeed. Just one more sacrifice.
One more push.
And he could have his Letty back.
He could finally hold her again.
"Romeo please..." His mother approached him. "I am not going to talk about magick and summoning with you. I just wanted to keep you safe. You know, I have been very busy but I still came here when I heard about the incident. You cannot stay in Alaska anymore. You have to leave."
"And go where?"
"I prepared a mansion for you in Barbados..."
"I am not leaving," Romeo poured himself some tea— It was Letty’s favorite tea. Again, his eyes paused at the frame on his table. "I can’t leave her alone."
"Romeo!"
"You can leave now."
"Are you doing this because of that green eyed woman?" his mother asked.
"Do you know her?"
"She came here..."
"She— where?"
"She just left. She knew about you."
"Then why did you— "
"Are you out of your mind?" Amore hissed. "She came here to confirm her suspicions about you!"
"Her suspicions will be proven useless when she becomes mine!"
"She is with the Lycan!"
"What?" Romeo stilled.
"She is working for the Lycans."
Romeo pursed his lips.
"This is not happening." He thought about what happened in the house when he took her. "Are you telling me that the man who saved her..."
"A royalty."
Romeo’s expression turned ugly as he stared at his mother. "That is not possible. You told me Royals don’t just leave Scotland!"
"For some reason, a Royal has been staying in Alaska. I didn’t know anything about this. I wouldn’t even have known about it if he didn’t tell me."
"You couldn’t sense him?"
Amore shook his head. "I couldn’t sense both of them. Something is blocking me. It was a bond... a promise? I don’t understand. However, I know it would be dangerous if you continue staying here."
For a few seconds, Romeo just stared at his tea. He could leave now and do his work elsewhere. He could find another woman with the same build, the same height, the same smile, the same mole— just like the previous women who unfortunately died in the past. But he couldn’t find another woman whose personality and eyes were just like Letty’s.
He wouldn’t be able to find another witch like Ava Woods.
Romeo eyed the storm outside.
He had been patient for a few years. He could wait for another six months.
Yes. That’s right.
He would leave this place and come back... when they forget. When the world forgets about him.
"Alright," he said. "But this is temporary." Yes. This won’t last. He was going to wait somewhere. And he... he will never forget.
Ava Woods.
What a beautiful name, he thought as a gentle smile appeared on his face.
