Chapter 62: The Weird Mark

A party was the last thing that she needed right now. And Ava was well aware of this.

Marylis had been very excited for this party as she was planning to invite a few of their highschool friends. When Ava heard of this party before she arrived, she firmly declined. To be honest, Ava already knew it was something she wouldn’t be able to enjoy.

"So... about the party. Are you available this weekend?" Marylis asked. She was sitting close to Ava. A year ago, this wouldn’t have bothered Ava but for some reason, she had a feeling that Marylis was not actually as nice as she originally thought.

"Sure." Ava smiled. "About the invites..."

"Don’t worry. I will take care of it. I will take care of everything."

And that worried Ava. However, she chose to smile. "I don’t like too many people."

"I know. You don’t have to worry about anything else." Marylis had always been like this. For Marylis a party isn’t really a party if there were less than fifteen people in the room.

"And the witches..."

"No need to worry. I won’t invite anyone who you don’t already know."

It was annoying. Phil and Marylis should know how Ava didn’t like local witches. It was only one reason why she didn’t join any coven even when Marylis asked her countless times.

If given a chance, Ava would stay in a cabin alone in the woods. Surrounded by silence and snow, she would live away from other witches and humans.

Then she thought of Matthew.

Should she spend that time with him?

Probably.

Matthew’s body was pretty warm. Yes. He would be a good warmer.

Damnit. Why was she thinking of him now?

She frowned.

"Ava?"

"Hm?" she looked at Marylis. "Sorry... I was..."

"You are blushing."

"Am I?" Ava used her hand to fan herself. "Isn’t it because of the heat?"

"It’s fifteen degrees outside."

"Oh... then maybe I am going to be sick?"

"V? Are you looking for a reason to miss the party?" A knowing smile appeared on Marylis’s face.

"What? Of course not!"

"Good because I won’t let you get sick."

Ava faked a smile.

"Of course, " Ava said. "Of course. I know that."

"Are you thinking of someone?" Marylis asked.

"Nope. Not at all." Ava said. Looking into Marylis’s smile, Ava realized how she had trusted Marylis in the past. But everything had changed.

She couldn’t trust anyone now. Not even her family. Not even Phil or Marylis. It was the sad truth that she needed to accept. But she wasn’t just doing this for herself. She was doing this for them.

She was a damn witch who got mated to a wolf.

And once this information gets out, everyone would want to kill her and probably Matthew. The thought of their current situation made her expression serious.

Matthew and her agreed to keep the marking a secret. It was easier since his bite mark actually disappeared when she woke up.

Normally, markings would stay in the skin of the female. And the females would wear it proudly. It would stay just like a tattoo.

And Ava expected it to stay on her skin.

But it didn’t.

Instead, it disappeared. It was as if her body swallowed the marking.

Of course, they were able to confirm that an invisible bond existed in between them. The mating bond.

But there were no marks.

No tattoos.

It was weird.

But this didn’t surprise them anymore. freewebnσvel.cѳm

This wasn’t comparable to the fact that both of their abilities had been amplified. Matthew confirmed that he could now do things that he couldn’t do before. In fact, he already told her that his speed only changed the moment they met.

Usually, a normal Lycan isn’t that fast when they are in their human body. But he was. And that started when he met her.

Their bodies had been slowly changing even before the marking happened.

And while Ava wanted to talk to Baba about this, Matthew quickly stopped her. He didn’t want Baba to show up and start observing them.

"Alright. Now, I will take care of the food and the decorations. All you need is to show up." Marylis tugged her sweater. "Alright?"

Ava gave her another smile before nodding. Yes. She didn’t trust Marylis anymore. But she could only hope that one day, she could trust her sister in law again. She could only hope that once the storm passes, Marylis and Phil would be there with her, along with Baby Gabi.

When Ava left Phil’s house, she was exhausted from all the talking. Does that even make sense? Ava should be happy and excited but the truth was, she couldn’t look at Marylis and Phil without thinking about Gabriella anymore.

It was exhausting and she left the house, spent.

She glanced at her phone. Six missed calls.

All of them were from Matthew.

[Don’t you have work to do?] she sent a quick text as she started driving towards her mother’s house. Actually, Matthew had some important meetings today. And that was the reason why he didn’t tag along with her.

Matthew insisted that she stay in the mansion with him.

This wasn’t just because of Romeo. But it was because of the Lycans who now heard that Matthew had been fucking a witch.

She parked her car and walked towards her mother’s house. The moment she took a step inside, she immediately knew that something was wrong.

An invisible shield surrounded her.

"You know..." she said. "I am currently in a very... very bad mood. I don’t have the time to play hide and seek with you. So show yourself or... I will fucking kill you."

Silence.

Ava closed her eyes as she took in a deep, deep breath.

Patience.

She couldn’t just kill anyone if she’s tired and irritated.

"You know... when Patricia told me that Amelia is actually a witch, I couldn’t believe it."

Ava’s frown grew deeper when she saw Broody step out of the shadows, inside the house.

"How the hell did you get in?"

"I know where you hide the key V. I guess old habits die hard." Broody had a dark look on his face.

"Why are you here, Broody?" she asked.

"Isn’t it obvious? I came to know the truth."

"I know nothing about your wife."

"Not about my wife, V. About you... being a witch."
