It was annoying. Really really annoying.
Ava let out a long sigh.
She didn’t sense any lies from Broody when he said those words, words might change everything she knew.
And that was what bothered her the most.
Either it was really the work of Gabriella or Broody really believed it to be. Those were the only possible reasons why she didn’t sense an iota of deception from him.
However, she was inclined to believe that Broody really believed his own words.
She sat on the couch and eyed Broody’s empty cup.
She didn’t know what that man was hoping to achieve by coming to visit her. And to be honest, she wasn’t all that interested to know why he was here either.
But she had still let him in.
Well it wasn’t that she had any other choice, the man found his way in. He trespassed.
The thought of it made her blood boil.
She opened her phone and checked Matthew’s messages.
Yes. The man sent her seven messages after her last text.
[I miss you] freёwebnovel-com
They literally just saw each other this morning.
[Should I send people to take your things here?]
Matthew already agreed that she would spend the night in this house. It was some sort of a goodbye to the place.
[What are you doing?]
A Lycan Prince can actually be this clingy?
She stared at the ceiling and thought of her first impression when she had heard the word Lycan.
Those animals should be ruthless and dominating. Intimidating and forceful. Of course, they are also extremely hot and fuckable.
Is that even a word? If not, she just made it one.
She chuckled and continued reading.
[I want to come.]
Come. What’s that supposed to mean?
Did he want to...
Her eyes widened.
But before she could type a reply, she heard a knock. She didn’t need to check who it was. She could practically hear Matthew’s thoughts from the outside.
She immediately opened it.
The first thing she saw were groceries.
"What— "
"Tada?" Matthew said. "We’re cooking."
"For dinner?"
He walked in without any invitation. Then he strutted towards the kitchen as if he owned the place.
Ava blinked.
She looked outside.
She could sense the presence of two more people.
Matthew’s guards? Or someone else?
"Hey... those two outside..." she made sure to make her voice louder, letting whoever it was outside know that she knew about them.
"Marko and another one. I think it’s time that I introduce you to my people."
"Are they going to join us?"
"No." The answer came almost instantly.
"Oh..." she closed the door and this time, she added more protection. It was just a small spell that would inform her if someone would trespass the house. She made sure the people outside won’t be able to hear them.
As to why she was doing this, she didn’t know. It was instinct, she guessed.
"Your people... like the shirtless Lycan’s working for you?"
"Shirtless?" his gaze turned dark.
"Those people still run every morning down the road outfront. Even when its snowing." Ava recalled seeing abs and muscles and biceps one morning when she woke up.
"You saw them?"
"Yes."
Since those people were warm blooded creatures, a little snow didn’t really affect them.
"You won’t see them shirtless again."
"Why not?" she tilted her head when she sensed the man’s jealousy. Matthew blocked the bond that was making her read his mind. But she could still feel his irritation. And she decided to make fun of him.
Right now, Ava wasn’t aware of what kind of relationship they really had. They hadn’t talked about it. Yet.
Well, it would be awkward to talk about it in the middle of fucking each other, right?
Matthew stared at her.
"Because I said so," he smirked. "Pots?"
"On the bottom left." She pointed.
"And if I want to see them?" Ava asked. Of course, she wasn’t done teasing him.
"You like to see shirtless men?"
"I like to watch."
To her surprise, Matthew suddenly removed his sweater.
"What are you— "
"Then you can stare all you want."
She gulped, her eyes glued on the man’s biceps. Then she burst out laughing.
Who would have thought that Matthew had a side like this?
"Hey! What ah!" Ava let out a surprise squeal when Matthew suddenly held her waist and lifted her, making her sit on the counter. "Aren’t you here to cook?" she lifted an eyebrow, still smiling at him.
The atmosphere inside the room changed. She tried to keep her body as still as possible. Excitement tingled in her flesh. She didn’t miss the butterflies in her stomach as she inhaled his scent.
Damnit.
How does he smell so good?
"No. I am here to eat." He grinned, his gaze never left hers. His action immediately got a response from her body.
Ava was tired. Hell, she wanted to sleep.
But it looked like her body had other plans.
Her nipples immediately hardened when she heard his husky words.
"What are you wearing under this measly thing?" he asked when he felt her pebbled peaks through the thin clothing of her slip dress.
"It’s thin." And see through. Her red lips curved into a seductive smile as she rested her arm on his shoulder. "Should I just stop wearing these when I’m with you?"
He lowered his eyes to her chest. Then he used his tongue to moisten his lower lip.
Fuck.
Wasn’t he just licking his lips?
Why was it so damn... sexy?
His hand rested on her thigh as he opened her legs for him. He pressed his erection on the center of her pleasure. A small gasp escaped her lungs.
"I want dinner..." Ava whispered.
His eyebrow lifted. "What kind of dinner?"
Gosh.
She wasn’t even aware if this is because of the marking or that they were mates.
All she knew was that everything about him was causing her insides to jump with excitement.
"Something that’s going to make me full," she answered as her hand trailed down towards the bulge of his pants. "And leave me wanting for more."
His breath hitched as she opened the zipper of his jeans. Her hand made its way to the crown of his cock.
His eyes darkened as he leaned forward and huskily said... "Then... eat to your heart’s content."
