Chapter 86: A little Crush

"Miss Woods, Master is currently having a meeting but please feel free to stay in his office." Marko welcomed her the moment she told the receptionist her name. Ava was certain that the Lycan had smelled her scent and that’s the reason why he was as fast as lightning in welcoming her.

Ava just nodded. It might be an exaggeration to say this but out of all the Lycans who she had met so far, Marko was the only one who was indifferent. No hatred. No happiness. No excitement. And she liked it.

The man sounded logical and reliable.

That must be the reason why Matthew decided to hire him.

"I have a quick question," Ava said the moment they were already inside Matthew’s office.

"Please feel free to ask me anything."

"Amelia... did you know her?"

Marko looked at her for a few seconds before he nodded.

"Matthew told me she didn’t handle anything confidential." That he only used her to get close to Ava.

"Yes. Amelia is the administrative assistant of my assistant. She usually does all the bookings, restaurants, flights, and venues. Nothing special. Just some usual stuff that assistants are required to do."

"Nothing confidential?"

"No."

So the fact that Samuel called her that night and told her to work with the Lycans was... another lie. Ava nodded.

"Alright. I will stay here."

"Would you like any refreshments?"

"Coffee would be nice."

"Pastries?"

She nodded. "I don’t have any preference. Please give me something sweet."

"Understood," Marko said before leaving her alone.

After the door closed, Ava walked toward the floor-to-ceiling windows and stared at the view of downtown Anchorage. Samuel and Matthew should know each other, right?

But how?

She clicked her tongue as she thought of the last time she talked to her mentor. Samuel sounded panicked and tired. She should have known then.

She should have known that something was wrong. No. The fact that Samuel sent her here knowing her connection to the killings was already the first red flag. And she stupidly walked into it without asking any questions.

"I smelled something nasty..."

Ava immediately turned toward the source of the voice.

"It turns out... it’s just you." It was a woman. Someone that she had met once before. Aira de Cene. Almeru de Cene’s twin— the man who claimed to be Matthew’s best friend. The woman was wearing all white clothes. White jeans, white boots, and a white winter jacket with fur. She looked sophisticated.

"Does your brother know you are seeing me?" Ava said. Judging from the fact that Aira is here, it would be safe to assume that Matthew is currently meeting another Lycan. Almeru de Cene, that lunatic.

"You didn’t tell Matthew about the warnings. So we personally came here to warn him again." Aira shrugged as she stared at Ava from head to toe. Then she squinted. "You aren’t that beautiful."

Ava blinked.

"Nor sexy."

Ava blinked again.

"But Matthew has been fucking you."

"What?"

"I knew. Everyone knew."

Ava’s jaw dropped. What the hell was she talking about?

"I can smell him from you." Aira sat on the couch and opened a fashion magazine from the table. "Did you use some magick to seduce him?"

Before Ava could answer, Aira continued, "Matthew isn’t the type to be seduced by magick or potions. So, it should be because you are his type?"

Again, Ava blinked. What the hell was wrong with this woman?

"You know... Matthew is the future King of the Lycans. He is going to have a wife. He needs to mark someone soon."

Ava smirked at this. Too bad. Matthew already marked her as his. A sense of pride suddenly surged inside her. Was that weird?

Why does it feel like she’s a high school student trying to fight another student for some random man? This felt so childish.

And Ava liked it.

She sat opposite the woman.

"And?" Ava asked.

"Are you familiar with... the story?"

"About a witch and a Lycan and the curse of the Lycan’s Promise." Ava smiled.

"So you knew."

"Everyone knew."

"And you still fucked a Lycan."

"And that is your business because?" Ava lifted an eyebrow. Then she gasped. "Are you telling me that you are jealous because you wanted him to fuck you instead?"

"You— "

"Are you one of those princesses who wanted to become a Queen? Matthew’s Queen?"

"What?" Aria’s face reddened. "I would never..."

"Really?" Ava asked.

"Of course! Why would I want that man to sleep with me?"

"Because he is the future Lycan King?"

Aira’s already red face turned even redder. "I would never!"

"Is it like a secret fantasy? You know... to be fucked by your brother’s ’best friend’?

Aira growled.

The woman was angry.

And it only made Ava smile with glee.

"You have a little crush, don’t you?" Ava asked.

"I don’t!"

"But you do. You have been dreaming about it, right? Being pinned by Matthew against the wall, his cock inside you."

"How dare you talk about the future King like that?"

Ava smirked.

"Do you want to know how it feels?"

"What?"

"His tongue..."

"Alright, stop. You have to stop now!" Aira got up, her face so red she looked like she was going to explode anytime soon. "You are not going to disrespect the future King like that!"

Aira glared at her. Her eyes narrowed like a beautiful fox staring at her prey. However, with her red face, Aira looked comical and drunk.

"Matthew only favors you because you are new. Do you understand me? Kings have more than one witch. They have more than one slave and hmmm...." Aira widened her eyes when she couldn’t say the rest of her words.

"You know... I always hate it when people interrupt me." Ava leaned back. "Sit down..."

It was as if an invisible force pushed Aira back to the chair.

"Now... let me continue. You shall sit there and listen to me. Do you understand?" Ava smiled, her eyes twinkled with mischief.

"What the hell are you doing to my sister?"
