That damned wolf!
Ava could only curse in utter annoyance.
It seemed like she had been scammed.
When she turned towards the weretigers and that witch, they were already gone, along with Erenes and Kieran.
She grumbled.
She couldn’t help but wonder if they intentionally told her something like that so they could take their people with them.
Assholes!
Ava wanted to scream.
She was so angry, that she felt like she was going to burst anytime soon.
The wind made its presence around her. It seemed to sympathize with her anger. She kicked the snow and was left with no choice but to go inside Gabriella’s house.
This time, she was confident that no one was inside the house. After all, the enchantment that she casted wasn’t considered simple. She walked inside her house and dialed Matthew’s number asking him to ask Kieran for money for some damages.
She needed some sort of compensation for what just happened!
Ava made herself comfortable inside her house until she started dozing off.
It was only too bad that Ava could no longer feel Romeo when he was asleep.
It felt like the man completely stopped sleeping!
What Ava didn’t know is the fact that Romeo didn’t actually stop sleeping. But she could no longer access his dreams as the man... lost the capability to have one.
....
Amore’s POV
Amore always believed that becoming a mother was one of the biggest sacrifices that she made in her life. She fell in love and because of her stupidity, she let the man impregnate her. Not that she regretted anything.
She didn’t.
Romeo was a gift.
He was lovely, smart, and everything that she could ever ask for.
And Amore would have done everything for her son.
Everything.
Amore would bend the rules, she would break them over and over for Romeo. She would gladly sacrifice her life for her son.
Amore blinked as she watched her son from the other side of the mirror. Romeo was lying in the corner of the room, mumbling some words that Amore didn’t understand. He stared at the ceiling before closing his eyes.
Then he would snap them open again. His pupils would start shaking. Then he would start screaming until the doctors sedated him.
Her son had lost weight, his eyes were sunken, dead. Without the constant sleeping pills and the liquids that were pumped into his system forcefully, Romeo would have been dead by now.
Suffice to say, the only thing that was keeping him alive was his own mother.
Amore blinked away the tears from her eyes.
"Did you find someone who is able to translate those parchments?" she asked. Amore’s first mistake was ignoring Romeo when he showed signs of wanting to revive his wife. In fact, Amore supported him and did everything she could to hide his crimes.
Clearly, that didn’t help her son’s mental health.
But was it wrong for her to love her son so much?
Was it wrong for her to keep her son smiling?
She couldn’t and wouldn’t let her son suffer just because of a woman!
She was his mother.
In this world, she was the only one who would love him selflessly.
She clenched her jaws when her assistant shook her head.
"They said that those are not Sumerian texts. They think... it is older than that." Her assistant said.
"Those are symbols! How hard could it be to translate symbols?" Amore hissed. She believed that the reason why Romeo fell ill was because of those Sumerian scripts that Romeo found in the black market of Barbados. Amore had heard about it before but she thought they were fake. She ignored it and just let her son do whatever he wanted.
But since Romeo got those scripts, he stopped sleeping! At first, Amore thought it might be one of her enemies. As a powerful woman in the witch community, Amore had her own fair share of enemies— people who would want to see her suffer.
But after a thorough investigation, she was able to confirm that her enemies didn’t touch her son. It’s not a curse or a hex. It’s not something that any witch could do.
So, she thought of those texts.
"Madam... the expert told me that they are now comparing it to other scripts that haven’t been deciphered yet. And— "
"And what?"
"There is a high chance that it is a new script from an old civilization that— "
"My son is not dumb! Those texts were clearly Sumerian! I saw one before! How could they mistake it as a new language?" Amore’s chest raised and fell in an abrupt motion. She had been trying to contact an archaeologist that she knew. Even the famous ones weren’t able to translate the texts.
All of them said that it looked like Sumerian but upon closer inspection, they were different.
"How about the people who sold it to my son? Were you able to trace it?"
"Unfortunately, Young Master found it in a black market where the identity of the seller is always anonymous. I tried to trace it but only found one piece of information. The seller is from the East."
"East? Asian?"
"I cannot confirm this."
"Well... investigate it! Investigate everyone who flew from the East around that time! Investigate every Asian who visited Barbados! Investigate!"
Her assistant flinched. "I understand."
"Good! Now leave me alone!"
When her assistant didn’t move, Amore asked. "Why are you still here?"
"Madam... we just received an important call."
"From the board?"
"Yes. They wanted you to join them as they witness the final stage of the experimentations."
Amore looked at her helpless son before sighing. She wanted to curse at those people for calling her. But she purposely hid this information from them because she didn’t want them to think that she was a weak leader! She didn’t want them to find out about her one and only weakness and use it against her.
"Alright. I will be there. Anything else?" Amore said.
"Well... our people who have been following Ava Woods weren’t able to find anything suspicious. The woman is working with the Lycan and seldom leaves Lycan’s mansion."
"Good. She should stay like that." Amore snorted. Ava woods was an unexpected variable. She was someone that she needed to kill. However, she didn’t want to offend that Lycan. "Continue watching them. And if they start asking questions about our coven..." Amore narrowed her eyes. "Kill her. It is better to kill the roots as well. Her brother and that Lycan. Kill them all!"
"Understood."
