Chapter 93: Tracking Amelia

Matthew had set up a bank account under her name.

That was something that surprised her. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

Matthew was rich but to set up an account for a girlfriend was a little too overboard, no?

That might be a little too much, right?

But Matthew just shrugged and told her it was only for her allowance. She would receive another account after the wedding.

What wedding?

Of course, Matthew just smiled and told her to get ready for her work.

The first day of her work came.

However, instead of going to her work, Ava received a call from Marylis telling her that they had already transferred the money to her account. And they wanted her to do the spell now.

"That was quicker than I expected," Matthew said. He was currently driving them towards Ava’s house where they were going to do the tracking spell.

"It will be quick," Ava said. The people who took Amelia or perhaps it was Amelia herself who didn’t want to be found. "I think the reason why Patricia didn’t or couldn’t find her own daughter is because of the iron." Ava refused to believe that Patricia didn’t try to find her own blood.

Knowing that Amelia is about to give birth, Patricia would have panicked and tried to find her. But she didn’t. Instead, Patricia even told Ava that she didn’t need her help.

The two arrived after a few minutes. By then, Broody and Marylis were already outside of the house waiting for them.

"Why is he here?" Broody asked the moment he saw Matthew.

"He’s my boss. He is here to make sure that I go back to his job after doing the spell."

"You need to rest after doing a spell like that," Marylis chimed in. She too was staring at Matthew. "Everyone does."

In response, Ava just shrugged. "Guess I’m not a part of that ’everyone’." She looked at Broody and smirked. "What took you so long, Mr. Jones?"

Instead of answering, Broody continued glaring at Matthew. Of course, Ava pretended not to see this. She tried to talk to Matthew earlier. She told him that his presence was not necessary. Of course, the man didn’t even try to listen to her as he marched towards his car and declared that he was going to drive Ava there and make sure that he was there to drive her back.

She is now his secretary so it only made sense that he wants her in the office on the first day of her job.

In the end, Ava stopped talking and got inside the car with Matthew.

"Did you prepare everything?" Ava asked.

"Yes, I brought the soil of the place where she was born. She was born in Nebraska." Broody said.

"Nebraska?"

"Yes. I had to fly there and drive all the way here."

Ava smiled. "Things that you do for love, eh?"

"Are you mocking me?" Broody asked, lifting an eyebrow.

"Maybe?" Before anyone could say a word, Ava already walked toward the house. "Let’s start casting now."

Ava could feel Matthew behind her and she couldn’t stop herself from smiling. For some reason, she found Matthew’s action a little cute.

Of course, she knew that this was just Matthew’s instinct. Baba already explained everything to her on the phone call. Matthew’s wolf wasn’t satisfied with the marking. It wanted to come out and make Ava submit. Baba said that a King’s Lycan is different from a normal Lycan. It’s because of their animal instincts.

An instinct to conquer.

An instinct to protect.

An instinct to provide.

An instinct to own her.

"Let’s do it in the living room." Ava gestured for everyone to the living room. "The candles..."

"I will get them." Broody volunteered while looking at Matthew. "I remember where Aunt Gabriella hid her candles." However, before he could do anything, Matthew was already walking toward the kitchen.

"Uh...." Ava blinked. "The candles..."

"I remember," Matthew said. "I saw them when I was cooking dinner for you."

"I— " Ava looked at Broody before clearing her throat. The latter had a dark look on his face while Marylis was just blankly staring at the entrance that would lead to the kitchen. "The soil and sand?"

"Here..." Broody held the bag towards Ava.

"Put it on the floor."

"All of it?" Marylis asked.

"Yes. All of it."

"This will be the first time that I would see someone performing a tracking spell." Marylis quickly explained. "In the past... I remember a priestess doing it with two other priestesses but they did it in a basement. Just the three of them."

Ava nodded in response. She looked at the kitchen. Matthew just walked out and just as he mentioned earlier, he really knew where the candles were kept. In fact, the man actually brought every piece of candle from the cupboard.

"Which one do you need?" Matthew asked.

"The black one."

"Good." Matthew handed her a couple of short but thick black candles.

"Does that thing really work?" Broody couldn’t help but ask.

"Yes, it does," Marylis said. "Only powerful witches can perform it as it is too taxing. A shaman or a priestess and maybe an oracle."

"A shaman?" Broody asked.

"Yes. Shamans can communicate with animals and most of them don’t have covens. They choose to stay in the wilderness and be one with the nature."

Ava listened as Broody continued asking questions while she positioned the candles in a circular position surrounding the soil and sand mixture that Broody had poured on the floor.

"I haven’t met a Shaman yet. However, I’ve heard stories about them. I heard they could have familiars."

"I thought all witches could have familiars?"

"No." Marylis shook her head. "Not many witches are privileged enough for a familiar. I have read ancient texts about it in the past. Most Shamans are actually working for rich covens. They are powerful and can help the priestess in casting powerful spells so..."

"We should start," Ava said. "Please do not disturb me once I am casting the spell." Actually, Ava could do the spell without casting but she wouldn’t want to do that in front of Broody and Marylis. She sat in a lotus position just in front of the unlit candles.

Then she closed her eyes and uttered a simple spell that lit all the candles at once.

Letting the magick flow out of her body, Ava concentrated and started to utter the spell.

"Persoyoime Idishaioac Acrlium."

Ava opened her eyes and stared at the soil and sand that was now starting to move. It was as if they were trembling as Ava’s magick coated every last one of them.

"Quesoyytum Ahaiicule Jaliilum."

Ava uttered the second part of the spell and almost immediately, the soil and sand started floating in the air. They moved and danced until they form the map of the US in mid-air.

Then all of them floated downwards and stopped moving just an inch before they would hit the floor. They continued to hover and the smell of something burning filled the room. The smell was suffocating enough for a human being. Ava thought she heard Broody let out a few dry coughs but she ignored it and just stared at the soil and sand mixture.

"Quesoyytum Ahaiicule Jaliilum."

This time, the soil and sand moved and formed the map of Nebraska. Before slowly crumbling and forming into the map of Alaska.

But this time, the soil and sand suddenly stopped moving. They even stopped trembling. They floated in the air before forming into a square-shaped object. Then they crumbled towards the floor in a loud thud.

Ava gasped or at least she pretended to gasp.

She held her chest and started panting.

"This is bad..." Marylis said. "Get some water!"

"No need," Matthew said. "I am going to bring her to the hospital."

"What?" Marylis said.

"What about my Amelia?"

"Do you think that is more important than..."

Matthew’s words were halted when Ava held the man’s arm. She managed to collect herself before she lifted her gaze revealing her pale face.

"What is it? Did you see something?" Broody said.

"I did..."

"And? Where is Amelia?"

"She’s in Alaska..." Ava uttered.

"Where in Alaska?"

"I don’t know."

"What?"

"She’s inside an iron box."

Before Broody could say another word, Marylis immediately added.

"Iron... is going to prevent us from knowing her exact location."

"What does that mean? Your magick doesn’t work on Iron?"

"Iron... is a witch’s weakness." Marylis sighed. "It seems that whoever took Amelia... is keeping her inside a room filled with Iron. I did not expect this. I was sure that the Amelia that I saw was inside ... a hospital of some sort. It couldn’t be an iron."

"Then we should try it again. Maybe this time..."

Matthew suddenly snorted. "If you think I would let you harm her then you are wrong Mr. Jones. That spell is too much for Ava. She could bleed out and die."

"What?"

Ava blinked. This... this wasn’t a part of the script!

"Mr. Graydon, witches don’t bleed out and die because of doing a spell. They faint and— "

"Ava does." Matthew interrupted Marylis. "Ava would bleed out if she performs powerful spells."

Again, Ava just blinked. Again... this wasn’t a part of the script.
