The SUV drove smoothly on the highway.
Jiang Hexi slept soundly for a while, and only woke up in a daze after the car arrived at the villa on the outskirts of Beijing.
She rolled down the car window and called out to the person waiting outside, "Uncle Zhong, I'm here."
Uncle Zhong immediately walked over to her and handed her the luxurious and heavy gift box he was carrying:
"Miss, this is what the master asked me to give you."
"Uncle Zhong, go back and tell Grandpa that I'll be back after I deliver the gift."
Jiang Hexi waved goodbye to him, then turned around and saw Yan Jie staring intently at the gift box in her hand.
What did Grandpa give you?
"They say it's a painting from his collection, but I don't know the specifics. What's wrong?"
Yan Jie raised his hand and patted her head, saying, "Things that your grandfather cherishes are always precious."
Jiang Hexi didn't know why he would say such a thing.
Her trip to the Yan family was just a formality; once she delivered the return gift to Old Master Yan in person, she could go back and report.
Unexpectedly, when the car arrived at the entrance of the Yan family's courtyard house, the situation suddenly changed.
While scrolling through group messages on his phone, Yan Jie unexpectedly discovered:
My parents are home today.
"I heard that your aunt and uncle... are very busy with work and are rarely home, right?"
Jiang Hexi was so shocked that her mind went blank, and she started to stutter when she spoke.
Yan Jie also expressed his doubts, saying, "This situation is very rare. Logically speaking, since it's the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday tomorrow, they should be free tomorrow."
Jiang Hexi sneered, not believing his nonsense at all. She shoved the gift box into his arms and declared:
"Please take the gift inside to give to Grandpa Yan and say hello to him for me. I won't go in."
"They're already at the door, do you dare not go in?"
"You lied to me first, and you still have the nerve to talk back!"
Jiang Hexi immediately turned hostile towards him, saying:
"I've met my second uncle and Grandpa Yan before, so I don't feel any pressure seeing them again. But what's going on with your parents? I'm completely unprepared."
“From the very beginning, you’ve been coaxing and deceiving me into coming back to the Yan family. You’ve never asked me if I wanted to. Aci, send him away and take me back to the villa in the outskirts of the capital.”
Chu Ci glanced at Yan Jie's lifeless face in the rearview mirror and truthfully confessed:
"Sister-in-law Axi, I dare not."
He drove the car into the courtyard, parked the SUV, opened the car door, and sped away.
Without his support, Jiang Hexi's arrogant demeanor deflated like a punctured balloon.
Yan Jie asked her coldly, "Still making a scene?"
Jiang Hexi couldn't help but become irritated again:
"You knew your aunt and uncle were home, but you deliberately waited until the front door to tell me. You were clearly forcing me into this situation."
"I didn't know they were at home."
Yan Jie tossed the phone into her arms. "They're the ones who deliberately timed it wrong and didn't tell you."
Jiang Hexi picked up his phone and saw the message Aunt Chu had sent three minutes earlier:
“I heard you brought Ximei over. Your dad and I are home too, so we can all have a meal together.”
This blunder has really blown up.
Yan Jie maintained his cold expression and said:
“I didn’t ask your opinion before bringing you here. We haven’t even entered the house yet, so there’s still time. Would you like to come in with me and meet my second uncle, my grandfather, and my parents?”
Jiang Hexi always appeared poised and confident with everyone, but when it came to her parents, she was terrified without any prior preparation.
Seeing that she hadn't spoken for a long time, Yan Jie's expression suddenly turned cold. He pushed open the car door, got out, strode around the front of the car, opened the driver's side door, sat in, and turned the key to start the car.
Looking at his cold and resolute eyes through the rearview mirror, Jiang Hexi said, each word hard and cold:
"You didn't ask my permission, yet you dare to drive the car out and try?"
"So what?"
"Don't even think about bringing me through this door again."
Jiang Hexi's words were spoken in anger, but they were also a genuine vow.
Seeing that she had made a statement, and that both sides had compromised, Yan Jie had nothing to argue about. He turned the key and turned off the SUV.
Chu Ci stood outside the living room, her eyes filled with panic, glancing in this direction every now and then.
Yan Jie knew that if they continued like this, his family would eventually come out to laugh at them.
He pushed open the car door and got out, then walked over in a few steps and opened the back door:
"What, you think I can't get you down here, my dear lady?"
Jiang Hexi picked up the gift box, stepped on the ground, and bent down to stand up.
Yan Jie stood outside the car door and didn't make way for her. He just stood there, one hand on the roof of the car and the other hand pulling open the car door, blocking her way.
"What do you mean? Are you trying to prevent people from leaving?"
Jiang Hexi's arrogance lasted only two seconds before he pulled her close, wrapped his arms around her waist, and kissed her forehead. Her voice trembled uncontrollably.
"What...are you doing? Are you crazy?"
Yan Jie spotted her pert nose, lowered his head and kissed it twice, his gaze naturally falling on her red lips, holding them tightly.
Jiang Hexi's temper softened instantly.
This reckless scoundrel is capable of anything. If he wants to lose face in front of his elders, he shouldn't drag her down with him.
"I'm wearing makeup, it's not appropriate now."
Seeing that he didn't believe her, she added, "The makeup I did in the stone house is a fake no-makeup makeup that a straight man like you can't tell the difference."
Yan Jie's Adam's apple bobbed uncomfortably twice, his voice sharp and sexy, "Behave yourself now?"
