Chapter 99 Argument

Jiang Hexi dug out Yan Jie's old competition videos and spent most of the day watching them one by one, covering all the major events Yan Jie had participated in.

With a "whoosh," the light trail shutter captured a streak of light as the race car sped past.

The thrill of the life-or-death race ignited the entire stadium; every second brought unpredictable changes, and until the very finish line, no one knew who the champion would be.

It is the roaring engine and the extreme speed that cause the adrenaline to surge, which gives racing its unparalleled charm.

Jiang Hexi doesn't understand racing, but she understands every word the commentator says.

"Lightning speed" is not enough to describe Yan Jie's amazing performance on the field.

He can accelerate quickly to overtake on curves, and he can also use skillful braking to block opponents from overtaking in various ways, keeping them firmly behind.

There are very few people in China who can achieve such success in F1 racing.

That accident was an unexpected incident.

The opponent violated the rules and crashed into Yan Jie's race car from the side at a speed of over 200 km/h, sending him and his car flying.

The car sparked as it rubbed against the ground, and he was covered in flames when rescuers pulled him out. Fortunately, the rescue was timely and he did not suffer fatal injuries.

However, due to this unexpected incident, he was forced by his family to leave the competition.

Jiang Hexi sat on the sofa, hugging herself tightly in sadness.

The sound of a key turning in the lock came from outside.

When Jiang Wenze got home from get off work, he walked into the living room and saw her curled up on the sofa, watching Yan Jie's match video.

He was slightly annoyed. "Why are you watching these videos?"

"Brother, I can't just believe whatever you say. I have my own judgment."

Jiang Hexi opened her eyes wide and stared at him intently, saying, "You're just prejudiced against Yan Jie."

Jiang Wenze met her round eyes and was so angry he laughed.

He sat on the sofa, seemingly amiable but actually forceful, and asked, "Where did you go wrong, brother?"

"Yan Jie's performance on the field isn't about going crazy and risking his life. If you don't understand, don't talk nonsense!"

Jiang Hexi argued logically, "They are professional race car drivers, participating in world-class circuit racing, where the competition is based on superb skills and a sharp mind."

"Listen to this, they've even started maintaining it."

Jiang Wenze said coldly, "I only said one thing to him, let's see how many things you say back?"

Jiang Hexi rebuked him, saying, "I won't allow you to talk about my friend like that."

"I'm just asking you, wasn't he risking his life when he raced?"

"That's the allure of competitive sports in pursuing the ultimate speed."

"Did he have an accident that almost cost him his life?"

"Why don't you say he escaped death, that he managed to save his life in extreme danger thanks to his exceptional skills?"

Jiang Wenze snapped at her, "You're so stubborn! You're always siding with outsiders! You won't even listen to your elder brother for the sake of an outsider?"

Jiang Hexi stopped buying into that kind of thing a long time ago:

"You're starting to dominate again. You think you're the only one who calls the shots in this house and can't tolerate any other opinions?"

As the two were arguing fiercely, Jiang Wenjing came down from the second floor, and said gloatingly:

"Hey, aren't these the loving brother and sister? What made you two argue like this, completely disregarding each other's feelings?"

Both parties involved gave Jiang Wenjing a disdainful look, and no one paid him any attention.

Jiang Wenjing sat down between the two and continued to stir things up:

"Little sister, your second brother will back you up. How did he bully you?"

"My older brother didn't bully me; he just doesn't like my friends."

Jiang Hexi said this, picked up her car keys, and walked out the door.

A loud slamming of the door followed by the roar of a sports car speeding away.

Jiang Wenjing became serious and asked, "Who is that friend?"

Jiang Wenze: "Yan Jie."

"Don't worry about that."

Jiang Wenjing thought it was something serious, but it turned out to be a minor matter that he had already dealt with: "I talked to my younger sister before, and right now she is focused on farming and has no plans to date."

"You believe everything she says?"

"My sister is serious about farming."

"I'm referring to Yan Jie."

Jiang Wenze said with a headache, "They're not even together yet, and she's already protecting this person like this. If they really get together, won't they cause a huge uproar?"

The interview for the "Listening" program was scheduled for 8 p.m. and would be recorded in the studio of Shenzhen-Hong Kong TV.

Jiang Hexi arrived at the TV station three hours early. While getting her makeup done backstage, she launched into a tirade against Jiang Wenze, criticizing him from head to toe:

“My brother is a typical feudal male chauvinist. You have to listen to him in everything. If you do something slightly against his wishes, he will find ways to make you change it.”

Si Xiao carefully drew her eyebrows, then continued her words with a sarcastic remark: "Until it's changed to suit his taste, I understand all the persecution you've suffered."

Jiang Hexi muttered, "No wonder he doesn't have a girlfriend."

Si Xiao's eyebrow pencil went out of control and drew a straight line directly on her forehead.

Jiang Hexi acted as if she hadn't seen anything, and continued to talk relentlessly:

"He used to change girlfriends every two or three months, and then he was single for two years. He ruined his own career by getting himself into this mess."

Si Xiao carefully drew her eyebrows, but even though her strokes were perfectly precise, her words still distracted her.

After Jiang Hexi laid the groundwork, the plot began to take a turn:

"However, after these two years of my tempering, my elder brother no longer dares to be presumptuous."

“For example, this afternoon, I just had a fight with him. He will definitely pick me up at the TV station after the recording is over.”

Si Xiao asked enviously, "How did you do that?"

Jiang Hexi patiently explained, "He once lost me, his sister, but later he realized his mistake and learned to cherish me."

Si Xiao's mind went blank for a moment, and she almost drew a line on the corner of her forehead again, but fortunately she managed to steady her eyebrow pencil this time.

"My brother is a good person in every way except for being a bit chauvinistic."

Jiang Hexi said meaningfully, "When I got into trouble before, it was my brother who stepped in to deal with those people for me. He is very responsible. Just for that reason alone, he is a completely trustworthy person."

Si Xiao remained silent.

"Sister Xiaoxiao, there's something I've been keeping from you."

Si Xiao looked up at her.

Jiang Hexi lowered her voice and said, "Although my brother has had many girlfriends, you are the only one he has brought back and met me, his sister-in-law."

She was magnanimous and forgiving, even though Jiang Wenze had angered her to the point that she no longer wanted to get involved in his affairs.

But she was about to go to the countryside, and if she missed this opportunity, she didn't know when she would see Si Xiao again.

When faced with matters of principle, she must stand firmly on Jiang Wenze's side and do everything she can to win over Si Xiao for him.
