Old friend
Guan Shanyue lay on the back of the booth chair. She had no intention of having fun, she just wanted to drink.
In recent years, the company has grown in size, and social engagements have inevitably increased. She is no longer the one who gets drunk after just one glass of alcohol. When she goes to cocktail parties, she is no longer treated coldly. Instead, she is the center of attention and the object of flattery.
See, everything changes.
The lights in the venue suddenly dimmed, and a small symphony orchestra appeared from nowhere around the stage. Instruments such as tubas, trumpets, violins, and pianos began to play. The music was calm and soothing. The spotlights in the middle of the stage lit up little by little, and dancers in light gauze dresses opened their arms, like butterflies flapping their wings to fly.
The music quieted down, and only the melodious sound of the violin remained. The group of dancers, draped in white gauze, moved lightly to the beat of the drums, pausing with each step, forming a vague circle around the main dancer, raising their hands, tapping their feet, and moving slowly.
Guan Shanyue sat up straight and looked at the stage in confusion. If he remembered correctly, this was a bar, but wasn't the performance on the stage a ballet?
In the moment of distraction, the main dancer had put on a veil and was moving nimbly among the group dancers. The white veil was thin and light, and when she jumped, it swayed like the wings of a god.
Guan Shanyue stared with wide eyes.
The music changed from mournful to gentle whispers, and then to an uplifting movement. The group dancers left the stage, and the main dancer began to dance alone on the stage, jumping up and down cleanly. The gauze skirt could not keep up with her movements, and it lingered in the air for a short time before cascading down, making it look less and less like a human dance.
This dance pose seemed familiar. Where had I seen it before? Guan Shanyue stared at the lead dancer intently.
After the main dancer finished a chapter, the group dancers returned to the center of the stage. They took a curtain call together. The main dancer took off the veil on her head, revealing her full face. She had a face as beautiful as a fairy. She walked lightly to the center of the stage and bowed to the audience.
The applause was so loud it nearly blew the roof off the house, but Guan Shanyue was struck by lightning, staring intently at the people on the stage.
Yuan Wangshu.
Is this the bar opened by Yuan Wangshu? Then, is the person we just saw Shao Zizhuo?
Guan Shanyue hurriedly stood up to look for the salesperson, her legs bumping against the corner of the table. Without caring about anything else, she rushed to the salesperson and asked, "Can you call your boss over?"
The salesperson gasped. This wealthy, beautiful woman dislikes male models. Could it be because she likes women? He smiled awkwardly, "Sorry, our boss only performed the opening show. It's her hobby, but she never cares about anything else in the bar."
Guan Shanyue took a deep breath and said, "Tell her I'm Lanshan Guan Shanyue, and I have something to ask her. We're old friends, reminiscing."
The fourteenth floor of Lanyuan.
Shao Zizhuo opened the door and a yellow-white mass rushed towards him, hugged his thighs, and cried out loudly: "Dad~"
Aunt Wang ran after him and said apologetically, "Mr. Shao, I'm so sorry. The child has been crying and looking for you."
Shao Zizhuo waved his hand, indicating that she was fine. Back home, he felt relaxed physically and mentally. He squatted down, picked up the child, and gently wiped her tears with a tissue: "What's wrong, Zhenzhen? Why are you crying?"
Shao Kezhen dodged his hand that was wiping her face, twisted her body twice, buried her face in Shao Zizhuo's shoulder, and said vaguely: "Dad, you came home so late today, it's dark now, I missed you so much."
Shao Zizhuo's heart softened. He held Zhenzhen in one hand and handed her a tissue with the other: "Dad is back, don't cry, okay?"
Shao Kezhen turned her face around and pressed it against Shao Zizhuo's, squeezing his face into a strange shape. She sniffed it up and down, hummed, and quickly covered her nose and backed away from Shao Zizhuo: "Daddy, you stink, a weird smell!"
He hadn't been back for four years, so Lin Fu organized a welcome party for him. Just after he had a few sips of wine, Aunt Wang called him and said that the child at home was crying non-stop, so he had to come back first to coax the child to sleep before going back.
Shao Zizhuo smelled his clothes and indeed smelled of alcohol. He put the child on the sofa and said, "Dad drank a little today. Go change your clothes first."
Shao Kezhen pinched her nose and spoke incoherently: "It stinks. Please don't drink in the future, okay?"
Shao Zizhuo stood up and went into the cloakroom. He pushed Shao Kezhen, who tried to follow him into the room, out the door and promised her, "Okay."
Shao Kezhen leaned against the wall outside the cloakroom, bumping against it again and again. Through the door, she hesitantly spoke her request, "Dad, I don't want to go to kindergarten. If I go to kindergarten, I won't be able to be with you every day, just like today. We will be separated for a long time, and we can't even see each other until dark."
Waiting here, the little girl has always been very smart, who knows who she got it from. Shao Zizhuo came out after changing his clothes, and took Shao Kezhen to sit on the sofa, and talked to her seriously: "Do you not want to go to kindergarten because you can't bear to leave your dad?"
Shao Kezhen lowered her head and snapped her fingers, refusing to communicate.
Being quiet and quarrelsome was just like him. Shao Zizhuo sighed and patiently guided her: "Are you worried that you won't get along well with other kids, or are you worried that the food in kindergarten won't taste good?"
Shao Kezhen raised her face with tears in her eyes, wiped her tears stubbornly, pouted and cried, still unwilling to speak.
Shao Zizhuo couldn't bear to see her cry, so he held her in his arms, patted her back gently to calm her down, and asked softly, "What's wrong, baby? Can you talk to daddy?"
Shao Kezhen sobbed and groaned, her words slurred. If you didn't listen carefully, you couldn't make out what she was saying: "Dad, why do other people's families have two adults, but mine only has one?"
Shao Zizhuo was stunned for a moment, then explained to her, "But there are two adults in our family, Dad and Aunt Wang, two people in total."
Shao Kezhen shook her head, her voice still too soft to articulate many words: "It's a different kind of adult, not like Aunt Wang."
Her words were difficult to understand, but Shao Zizhuo immediately understood what she meant - the child had grown up, and her emotional perception was different from when she was a baby, and she wanted her mother.
Shao Zizhuo held the child in his arms, speechless. He didn't know how to explain to her or where to start. After all, her birth essentially violated natural science, and it was still unknown whether her mother was willing to recognize her.
Shao Kezhen was depressed and felt that she was the most wronged person in the world. "Amy's family had two adults who loved her, and so did Miya's family, but I didn't. They laughed at me secretly, and I heard it."
Shao Zizhuo couldn't help feeling sad. He had been taking care of the child since birth. Later, when the child was a little older and his health had recovered, he asked Aunt Wang to help.
Maybe it was because of the lack of love, but Shao Kezhen has been sensitive and sensible since she was a child. He tried his best to make up for it, but it seemed to be of no avail. She still lacked a sense of security, but because she was too smart, she had to pretend to be sensible to comfort him.
Even when asked about his mother at this moment, he didn't dare to say "Mom", but said "two adults".
Two villains were fighting in Shao Zizhuo's mind.
One person said: "Although Zhenzhen is young, it is very necessary to tell her everything about herself, including to show respect to her mother who may not love her and may not know she exists."
Another said: "She is too young to understand the complex emotions between her parents. We should wait until she is older."
The two men each argued, nearly coming to blows. Ultimately, the idea of telling everything prevailed.
Shao Zizhuo pressed his forehead and carried Shao Kezhen to the sofa to sit down. She turned around unwillingly and asked Shao Zizhuo to hold her. He pushed her back and asked her to sit down obediently.
Shao Kezhen felt Shao Zizhuo's seriousness and didn't dare to make trouble anymore. Tears were still hanging in the corners of her eyes, and she sat obediently aside sobbing.
Shao Zizhuo took a deep breath: "Zhenzhen, do you want to ask where your mother is?" Without waiting for Shao Kezhen to answer, Shao Zizhuo took out his wallet, took out a photo ID from the inner compartment and handed it to Shao Kezhen, "This is your mother."
Shao Kezhen didn't even have a kindergarten education, and couldn't accept such shocking information all at once. She took the photo blankly.
The photo has a red background and shows a beautiful woman who is prettier than Amy, Marina and Miya’s mother. Her hair is tied in a high ponytail like hers and she has no bangs like hers. She has a bright smile and looks very similar to her when she smiles!
Shao Kezhen quickly accepted this unexpected mother, her eyes shining like little stars: "Mom, you are so beautiful!" she announced loudly, "Just like me!"
Shao Zizhuo was initially nervous, fearing Shao Kezhen would reject the truth, but she unexpectedly accepted it so well, as if she had discovered a new world. She couldn't help but laugh, patted her head, and used a colorful clip to fix the stray hair she had scratched out when she cried. "Yes, your eyes are very like your mother's."
Shao Kezhen lowered her head and took another careful look. She jumped off the sofa and ran to the full-length mirror in the cloakroom. She looked into her own eyes again and excitedly called Shao Zizhuo, "Dad, come and see. I look like Mom!"
Shao Zizhuo came in and looked at his daughter, who was not even as tall as his thigh. He smiled from the bottom of his heart. She was really cute.
Shao Kezhen grabbed his pants and looked up at him and asked, "Dad, why doesn't Mom ever come to see me?"
Shao Zizhuo looked into her eyes, lost in thought. There was someone who also loved to look up at him like this, and even their eyes were somewhat similar.
Shao Zizhuo squatted down and looked at her at eye level: "Because mom doesn't know you exist yet, she doesn't know you yet."
"Why?" Shao Kezhen wondered from the bottom of her heart, how could other people's parents recognize their own children, and why didn't her mother recognize her?
Shao Zizhuo was speechless and didn't know how to explain for a moment.
Shao Kezhen asked again: "Why do other people's mothers know them? Why, Dad?"
