"Oh, don't even mention it, they broke up again, and I'm really upset about it."
"What happened? I saw the two of them holding hands while shopping last week. I thought we'd be getting wedding candy by the end of the year. How come they broke up again?"
"How would I know? That brat won't say anything when I ask her. She's so old, and she still can't settle down. I'm getting so anxious."
"Yes, you should talk to your Xiaoqin. Women can't afford to wait. Once they're over twenty-five or twenty-six, it'll be hard to find a partner."
"Who says otherwise? I was quite satisfied with this one too. He works in the system, has a university degree, is good-looking, has a good temper, and his family is from Ziqiang County. What more could you ask for?"
"Oh dear, from what you've said, that guy is such a good catch. Why did Xiaoqin fall out with him? You should try to persuade her to get back together. A man like that won't stay single for long. Don't let other girls snatch him away."
"Sigh, try to persuade her? She won't even say how they fell out, so I don't know where to begin."
"That's true... Why don't you ask that young man? If she won't tell you, surely he won't either?"
"Well... we've only been dating for a short time, how could I possibly...?"
"That's not right of you. Xiaoqin is your own daughter. What's wrong with going to ask her?"
...
"Father, Mother, what are you doing in Qiang County?" Wang Yao was listening to the two middle-aged women chatting when Hui Shuo's voice suddenly interrupted.
"I...I'm here to do a mission..." Wang Yao thought for a moment. This matter was a bit troublesome. The two of them would probably have to stay in Ziqiang County for a while. There was no point in deliberately hiding it from Hui Shuo. Instead, he could listen to what Hui Shuo had to say and get some advice.
So he told Hui Shuo everything about the lone man.
"I see... Father and Mother, I'll try to influence him with Buddhist teachings!" Hui Shuo had finished eating by then. As he spoke, he stood up and reached into his monk's robe, probably trying to take out the wooden fish.
"No..." Wang Yao was about to stop him when he caught a glimpse of two middle-aged women staring curiously at Hui Shuo out of the corner of his eye. Suddenly, an idea popped into his head.
Hui Shuo is just a monk, yet he attracts the attention of women in the county town. So why is Mo Luopo ignored by women? It's better to ask women than Mo Luopo. It's like when Xiao Qin and her boyfriend had a fight. Instead of asking the person involved, what's the point of asking her mother?
"No need! I have a plan." Wang Yao stood up and led Hui Shuo back, while Hui Shuo was still unwilling to give up.
“Father, Mother, are you sure you don’t want me to try to persuade him? My Buddhist teachings are very powerful; even the old monks in Yunling say they have great power to help people transcend suffering.”
"I'm not trying to kill Molopo, why would I need to properly pray for his soul?" Wang Yao was utterly speechless at Hui Shuo's words.
The two returned to the hotel, where Wang Yao completed the extension procedures and paid the deposit back.
The hotel counter had a new shift in the morning, and a woman in her forties came in and processed Wang Yao's paperwork with a blank expression.
"Excuse me, we'd like to find a woman to do a small task, it won't take long. Could you introduce us to someone suitable?" Wang Yao asked the woman behind the counter with a smile.
The woman looked up at Wang Yao, then at Hui Shuo, and her expression clearly changed.
"We run a legitimate inn, we don't do those kinds of businesses!" the woman said with a look of disdain, and glared at Hui Shuo hatefully.
"Uh...you misunderstood..." Upon seeing the woman's expression, Wang Yao immediately guessed that she thought he and Hui Shuo were planning to hire prostitutes. He was also a little puzzled. Was the brain of this straight man too developed?
He only said he was looking for a woman, how did she connect it to those kinds of things? He even brought a monk with him, is that even possible? Isn't that a bit too shocking?
“I have a job, a legitimate job, similar to running this inn. I need a woman to help me come up with ideas. Depending on how well the job is done, it will only take a day or a few days. I’m looking for someone like that,” Wang Yao quickly explained.
"Oh... if it's something important, just say it earlier. I can't stand those shady dealings..." The woman scolded Wang Yao instead. Wang Yao scratched his head, wondering what was so suspicious about his question.
"What kind of work are you looking for? What are the requirements? What age range are you looking for? Tell me," the woman asked.
"Here's the thing, I have a relative in Ziqiang County who's 40 years old and still unmarried. It seems like women don't really like him. I've tried to persuade him a few times, but he got angry, and our relationship has become quite strained. You see, I came here specifically to see him, but I can only stay at your inn..." Wang Yao said.
“I want to ask a woman to take a look at him, to find out what's wrong with him that women don't like, and then find a way to help him change. He's 40 years old, and if he doesn't find a partner soon, he'll have wasted his life. We're both men, after all, and we don't really understand women's perspectives.”
"I don't have any requirements for that woman, as long as she has a lot of romantic experience, that should make it easier for her to see my relative's problems."
"I see..." The woman blinked, then suddenly lowered her voice. "I do have a friend who fits your criteria. He's in his thirties, has dated many people, but none of them worked out. He's very experienced in relationships. What do you think?"
"Okay! That's great. Please bring her over and see if she has any requests. We can't let people work for free," Wang Yao said.
