Chapter 132 Questioning the Heart

"...Never mind, come back." Seeing the appearance of the green-robed ghost, the voice sighed softly and simply told him to go back. Once a grudge is formed in someone's heart, it cannot be dispelled with just a few words. Gu Qi could only recall the green-robed ghost to prevent him from falling into other traps set by the Old Man of the Moon.

"Hey, you surnamed Gu, that's not fair! If you've got the guts, come out and let's have a fistfight. This is your territory. You can see exactly where I am and what I'm doing. This fight isn't fair!" Wang Yao shouted.

"It was the immortal who was being aggressive; I was merely protecting myself. There's no question of fairness," Gu Qi said calmly.

"Alright, alright, say what you want. I'm going to find Hui Shuo right now. You can watch as much as you want." Wang Yao laughed and took off after Hui Shuo, but the voice disappeared.

After chasing for a while, Wang Yao finally caught up with the ghosts. The group marched along, passing through corridors and gates, winding and turning. On the way, Wang Yao spotted a closed shopping center. He went up and used "Yujin" to break the iron lock on the door. He crawled inside and indeed found food from the human world.

Spicy strips, cream puffs, cakes, a whole bucket of them… Wang Yao didn’t care about any of that and swept them all into his own Qiankun. Since he had already turned against the Underworld, he might as well take them. Hui Shuo was still starving there. Gu Qi watched Wang Yao’s antics without saying a word to stop him, just letting him do as he pleased.

Wang Yao prepared the food and went to chase after Hui Shuo. A large group of ghosts gathered and paraded like they were in the underworld. Before long, they arrived at an exit of the underworld, where the ghosts were still giving Hui Shuo instructions.

"Holy Monk, this place leads to the outskirts of the human world's Flower City. Although it's remote, finding a taxi shouldn't be a problem; it'll only cost 5 yuan to get you into the city..."

"What year did you become a ghost? And you only have 5 yuan? I was already 17 when I came down here, Monk, you should have at least 100 yuan on you, otherwise it's hard to say, prices in the human world are rising too fast these days..."

“Dear monk, don’t listen to their nonsense. Sixty yuan should be enough. It’s less than 20 kilometers from the city center. Do you have any money on you? Ghost money won’t do; you need real money. How about I exchange some for you? There seems to be a Ghost Flag Bank branch nearby…”

...

“I have money, I have money…” Hui Shuo stammered hoarsely. Wang Yao had given him 2,000 yuan before he got off the bus, which was enough to take a taxi.

Upon hearing that the monk was wealthy, the ghosts roared and surged forward, only to reach the end of the corridor, where a closed door stood.

The ghosts, surrounding Hui Shuo, rushed to the door without retreating. Judging from their posture, they were preparing to accompany the monk to the human world.

Unexpectedly, the group crashed into the exit door with a loud bang, but the door remained completely still. No matter how much the ghosts kicked, punched, scratched, and even used their teeth, not a single mark was left on the door.

"Damn it, the gate is closed! Where's the gatekeeper, Jieyin? Where did he go?"

"Where could they have run off to? We've made such a scene, did they scare us away?"

"Nonsense, nonsense. I've been a ghost on this floor for over a hundred years, and I've never seen anyone dare to abandon the exit and escape on their own. Where could he go? There's nowhere to hide in the building, and he's marked with the guide's mark. He'll die if he goes out into the light. He can't go anywhere."

"Could it be that the Underworld did this on purpose? To prevent us from leaving, they closed the passage and sent away the guide?"

The ghosts were arguing and analyzing why the gate was closed. They finally concluded that the Underworld had intentionally closed the gate. After all, the incident had caused quite a stir today, and if the Underworld hadn't closed the gate, a terrible incident could have occurred where all the ghosts escaped from the Underworld.

Wang Yao also squeezed to the front of the gate and took a look. He saw that the gate was made of neither gold nor wood, and it even had a slightly warm feel to the touch.

He tried using the "Golden Control" immortal technique, but it couldn't damage the gate in the slightest. As soon as the little golden sword reached the gate, it was as if it was blocked by an invisible membrane, and it couldn't even touch the gate itself.

"I refuse to believe it! There are so many passages between the underworld and the human world, does the Underworld dare to close them all? Aren't they afraid that the immortals might have important matters to attend to and won't be able to get in? If the Heavenly Court starts questioning us, that would be a much bigger problem than us escaping the underworld!" a clever ghost shrieked.

The ghosts roared in agreement and immediately surrounded Hui Shuo, trying to head elsewhere. Wang Yao was still trying to figure out how to break out of the door when he heard the ghosts' plan. He immediately sensed something was wrong and quickly stepped forward.

"Wait a minute, everyone listen to me. With so many of us ghosts rushing toward one exit, the Underworld can just keep an eye on things, opening this door and closing that door without any delay. So we need to think of a way."

"Even if we don't break down the door, at the very least we can't let the people of the Underworld figure out our movements," Wang Yao said.

All the ghosts agreed that Wang Yao's words made a lot of sense, and they discussed it again. In order to prevent the Underworld from figuring out which exit they were heading to, the group had to split up into several groups to try to distract the Underworld.

But everyone was a ghost who loved Hui Shuo, and no one wanted to leave him. They argued and quarreled for a while, unable to settle their matter. Wang Yao tried a few more magic spells, but he didn't dare to use the lightning magic spell for fear of frightening the ghosts. He tried all the other offensive magic spells, but he was completely helpless against this one.

It makes sense when you think about it. If the exit between the underworld and the human world were so easy to open, wouldn't all the ghosts in the underworld have already run away, and wouldn't the human world be in chaos because of them?

"I do have some minor spells to check the exits, but I haven't been a ghost long enough to know the locations of all the exits on this floor. You can point them out to me, and we'll check as we go. If we find any door that the underworld officials haven't closed, we'll hurry over there."
