"You audacious divine general, how dare you come to mock me? Are you preparing to attack?" the fairy maiden coldly shouted from mid-air.
"I'm sorry, Fairy Maiden, this is a battlefield. If there were no defenses on the city walls, how could we withstand the onslaught of the demons? Even so, the garrison has already taken a huge risk to shut down the killing mechanisms on the city walls. Otherwise... hehe, the outcome would be hard to say."
General Yang spoke slowly in the darkness from below the city gate.
"I refuse to believe it!" Fairy twisted her waist in mid-air and pulled herself up. Wang Yao and Wuying were almost on the rooftop at this moment. He could see with his own eyes that a large hand suddenly appeared in the sky amidst the flying snow and slowly pressed down on Fairy's head.
"How dare you, you brat!" The fairy maiden was a renowned immortal in the Heavenly Court, and she and the Heavenly Emperor's wife were close friends. When had she ever suffered such humiliation? Even if there was no danger, she would still lose face if that hand touched her head.
Suddenly, she clasped her hands together, and a pink light rose from her palms, like a pillar of light that went straight up to the palm that was slapping down. Wang Yao felt that as the fairy maiden used her magic, the wind between the city walls seemed to suddenly increase several levels, making it hard for him to open his eyes.
Then, the fairy gave a soft shout, and the red light became exceptionally dazzling, like a pink lamp lit up in the dark night, illuminating the surrounding area. Bathed in the red light, the fairy's clothes fluttered, exuding an ethereal aura.
The hand in the sky was held up by the red light and could no longer fall. As the red light became more and more dazzling, the hand retreated upwards piece by piece, and the fairy's figure also rose up piece by piece. Before long, she was almost at Wang Yao's height.
Whether the soldiers on the city wall were busy dealing with the fairy or engrossed in watching the spectacle, Wang Yao's iron basket stopped at this height and did not go any further.
He watched as the fairy rose higher and higher in the wind and snow, the pink light emanating from her body illuminating half of the city tower, and he couldn't help but be moved.
"What kind of monster dares to launch a night attack on Wuling Pass?" A loud shout suddenly rang out from the city tower, but a clear voice followed immediately.
"Immortals and the Netherworld Clan are guests from afar, passing through the Divine Realm. All generals must not be rude to them."
As soon as the sound came out, Wang Yao was astonished to find that the wind and snow in the sky had stopped, and a seven-colored ray of light shot out from the city tower, like a rainbow appearing out of thin air, winding its way to the fairy's feet.
"I was unaware that Fairy He would grace Wuling Pass with her presence so late at night. I am preoccupied with military affairs and unable to greet her properly. Please forgive me, Fairy He." The clear voice said.
Upon hearing this sound, all the officers and soldiers on and off the city wall immediately knelt down.
"Greetings, Marshal!" came a unified shout from each of them.
"Everyone, please go about your business. There's no need for formalities," the voice replied calmly. At that moment, Wang Yao felt the iron basket beneath him rise up again with a "squeak, squeak."
The fairy stood on the rainbow, her face flickering between light and shadow, but she did not take a step forward. Instead, the radiant pink light emanating from her entire body slowly subsided.
Gucci, who had fallen below the city gate, slowly climbed back up, guided by a section of rainbow. The rainbow disappeared into the darkness as Gucci moved forward step by step.
The iron basket was raised to the city wall, and soldiers helped Wang Yao climb out of it. Wu Ying, on the other hand, didn't need any help; his head floated lightly onto the city wall.
"Gao Chong, why aren't you apologizing to the Fairy Maiden? The demon army has already been driven back. If they were still at the pass, you would be causing trouble and would be punished for disrupting morale!"
Wang Yao saw a general dressed in plain battle robes standing on the city wall, smiling at the fairy maiden. Beside him stood a young general in silver armor.
"My Lady Fairy, please don't be offended. I've long admired your name, and I couldn't resist showing off my skills today. Are you alright, my Lady Fairy?"
The young general bowed and clasped his hands in greeting to the general in the plain battle robe, then turned to the fairy and smiled.
"A mere trick, how could it possibly harm a hair on my head? Marshal Yue, are you tired of fighting the Demon Realm and now you want to start a war with my Immortal Realm?" The fairy maiden was clearly quite angry, coldly replying to the young general before turning to the general in his plain battle robe.
"How dare I! Whether or not I, Yue Fei, am in the Divine Realm, I have always only served to protect the Heavenly Court. I have never fought against the Heavenly Court. Fairy, you have wronged Yue Fei with these words." The general in the plain battle robe hurriedly cupped his hands to the fairy.
"You know I'm framing you. You were wronged and died in your past life. How come you still don't know how to discipline your subordinates? You'll cause trouble again sooner or later!" the fairy said irritably, but she also started to walk up the city wall following the rainbow. Gu Qi quickly followed behind her.
As the two moved forward, the rainbow disappeared piece by piece again. Wang Yao saw that where the rainbow disappeared, the wind and snow began to rage again.
"The great battle has just ended, and we should give the children a chance to relax. We have no other thoughts, we just wanted to have some fun with the Fairy Maiden. We hope the Fairy Maiden will not take it to heart." Yue Fei watched the Fairy Maiden walk up the city wall, smiled and bowed to her.
Wang Yao had already been suspicious when the man in the straw raincoat, General Yang, mentioned Yue Fei earlier. Now, he realized that this was none other than Yue Fei, Yue Pengju, a name he had heard of before his transmigration. He couldn't help but look closely at the general in the plain battle robe with curiosity.
This man was just an ordinary middle-aged man, but his eyes and brows were full of heroic spirit, and his every frown and smile exuded an air of authority that made people unconsciously submit.
