"Your divine realm and demon realm have been fighting for so many years, why can't you sit down and talk? We are all from the same lineage of the six realms, what can't we talk about?" said the fairy maiden on the side.
“We gods are born to fight. If we can fight, why waste words? Commander Yue said long ago that the demon cubs can only talk if they completely withdraw from the divine realm. Otherwise, we’ll fight first and then talk. Although there are many demon cubs, they are not enough for us grandfathers to kill.”
The man in the straw raincoat said with a smile.
"The dispute between you two, the gods and the demons, is impossible to resolve. You say the demon realm has occupied your divine realm's territory, while the demon realm claims that your divine realm has occupied its territory. It's a complete mess, and yet it's been going on for so many years." The fairy shook her head and sighed.
"Let's hurry up, getting on the road is the priority," Gu Qi urged from the side.
“It doesn’t matter. The view here is expansive. No matter how busy General Yue is with military affairs, he always makes time to stand here and take a look at this magnificent land. General Yue always says that only after seeing the magnificence of this land can he feel that those battles and those bloodshed were not in vain,” said the man in the straw raincoat.
Although the man in the straw raincoat said that, it was now pitch black, and apart from the thousands of tents lit up in the snow, there was no other way to see the magnificent scenery. Nevertheless, Wang Yao nodded.
I thought to myself that if I stood here on a clear day, with the mountains below, the long river flowing, and the majestic pass stretching out before me, there would indeed be a magnificent view that would make me linger.
"Let's go, let's go, we still have things to do." The fairy maiden urged them on from the side. The man in the straw raincoat led everyone on their way again. This was indeed a high point they had come from. After that, the road began to bend and descend.
Victory!
Suddenly, a loud shout rang out from the darkness by the roadside. Wang Yao was startled, only to see a soldier wrapped in a battle robe suddenly stand up. He had been lying on the snow, covered in snow, and at first glance, he looked almost like a rock. Even with Wang Yao's sharp eyes, he couldn't tell the difference.
“Fearless!” the man in the straw raincoat replied casually, taking a step forward without stopping. The soldier stood there, silently watching Wang Yao and his entourage walk past.
As they went further down, there were more and more hidden sentries, but it didn't stop them from traveling. They answered the commands casually, and a pass and city gate that was close to the mountain wall was already in sight.
On the city wall, there were twinkling lights, and as you got closer, you could see colorful military flags fluttering in the wind and snow, and soldiers standing guard and patrolling on the city wall.
"Victory!" The man in the straw raincoat shouted as he arrived at the foot of the city wall.
"Fearless!" came the reply from the city wall, and a soldier approached the crenellation and looked down.
"General Yang, weren't you on duty guarding the ice crossing? Why are you back now?" the soldier asked from above.
"A ghost has come from the underworld, and there are two immortals too. They say they're going to the seventeenth level of the underworld to undergo tribulation, so hurry up and hoist them into the city. Don't delay their business. I also need to go back to the Ice River Ferry," the man in the straw raincoat shouted from below the city wall.
"Oh!" the soldier above replied. A moment later, an iron basket with a steel cable was lowered down from the city wall. The fairy looked at the iron basket and couldn't help but frown.
"How...are you going to sit here?"
"Please forgive me, Fairy Maiden, the war is urgent and the city gates cannot be opened without permission. I can only trouble you to sit on this heavenly chair," General Yang said with a smile.
"No need, it's only a short distance, I can fly up there myself," the fairy maiden said, looking up at the city tower and shaking her head.
"Fairy Maiden, you mustn't!" General Yang's expression changed drastically upon hearing the fairy maiden's words, and he hurriedly tried to stop her. "This is a war zone now, and powerful anti-flight spells have already been cast. If the fairy maiden flies, she will likely be attacked."
"Why wasn't the city wall attacked? You gods always like to play tricks on us immortals. I heard about it before but didn't believe it, but it's true. I guess I won't fly away, okay?"
The fairy glared at General Yang, then lifted her leg and began to stroll along the straight city wall. Gu Qi and Wu Ying followed her, clinging to the wall as they ascended. General Yang, seeing this, did not stop them, but simply watched with a smile.
Wang Yao was dumbfounded when he saw this scene. He hadn't even reached the Foundation Establishment stage yet, let alone fly. He hadn't even learned the skill of walking up the wall like this. He looked up blankly at the three fairy maidens as they walked higher and higher in the wind and snow. Helpless, he could only stand in the iron basket with a wronged expression.
All that could be heard was the sickening squeak of the steel wire above his head, and the iron basket began to slowly rise. Although Wang Yao was quite embarrassed to sit in the iron basket, he was unwilling to completely lose face as an immortal, so he kept standing in the iron basket, gripping the steel cables on both sides with his hands, trying his best to keep his body upright.
He looked up, and in the swirling snow, he saw that Fairy Maiden, Gu Qi, and even Wu Ying had all stopped about halfway up the city wall. They didn't go any further. He felt a little strange, wondering if these three were waiting for him? That didn't make sense.
It's just a section of the city wall; isn't it the same to go upstairs and wait?
Before long, his iron basket arrived at the same location and found several people standing there in a daze, as if they were halfway up the city wall. Fairy and Gu Qi were still swaying from side to side. When Wu Ying saw Wang Yao's iron basket approaching, he turned his head and entered the iron basket with a cloud of black smoke.
"What's wrong? Why aren't you going up?" Wang Yao asked curiously.
"There are traps on the city wall. We can't see what they are, but they're blocking our way forward," Wuying said softly.
Before the words were even finished, Gu Qi cried out in the darkness, as if he had lost all his power, and his body suddenly fell downwards. The fairy also let out a soft cry, and her figure abruptly left the city wall, floating swaying in mid-air.
