"Section Chief Huang, after we arrive at Taiqing Immortal City, you are responsible for finding all the other colleagues in our office. We will meet up on the seventeenth floor. Damn it, I'm not dead yet, it's not your place to mourn in Heaven."
"Liu Xikai, come with me to the seventeenth floor to face the tribulation." Cao Xian looked at Liu Xikai again.
"Director Cao, we've already lost so many immortals, are we still going to stay in the Underworld to face the tribulation?" Upon hearing Cao Xian's arrangement, Huang Zhen and the other two looked grim. Huang Zhen asked helplessly.
“We are the Heavenly Court’s office in the Underworld. If we don’t stay in the Underworld, where else can we go?” Cao Xian said. “Now that the Old Man of the Moon can deal with spirits, we are no longer in danger. Don’t forget, the greatest threat to ghosts is still corpse energy. Why would the Underworld let us leave?”
"How long do I have to stay here?" Di Yun asked from the side. Obviously, Wang Yao wouldn't stay on the eighteenth floor, so he would have to face the spirits left on the eighteenth floor alone. He couldn't disobey Director Cao's orders, so he could only ask when he could leave.
"Just stay here and relax. Once we've calmed things downstairs, we'll come up to you. Just be careful," Cao Xian said calmly.
Upon hearing Cao Xian's words, Di Yun's expression turned even uglier, and the three immortals stood there awkwardly with their heads down, remaining silent.
"What the hell is wrong with you all? Don't forget who you are! You are immortals, and specifically, immortals from the Heavenly Court's office in the Underworld. You are neither wandering immortals nor wandering immortals, and you are definitely not living immortals. You have responsibilities on your shoulders!"
Seeing the dejected expressions on his three subordinates' faces, Cao Xian couldn't help but scold them.
"Don't get angry. They were terrified by the spirits, so it's understandable that they want to leave the underworld," the fairy maiden advised from the side.
"Actually, you immortals, Cao Xian, may not want to stay in the Underworld, but it is your duty, and you cannot shirk it. You still need to show some responsibility. As long as you can successfully deal with this calamity in the Underworld, I will ask the Heavenly Emperor for credit on your behalf." The fairy maiden then said to the three immortals, Huang Zhen.
"We should be thanking God we're still alive, why would we need to ask for credit?" Huang Zhen shook his head and sighed.
Seeing that Cao Xian was determined, the three immortals had nothing more to say. They all climbed onto the back of the Cloud Ascending Beast. Although the Cloud Ascending Beast had a wide back, it was still quite crowded with six immortals sitting on it.
Fortunately, the Cloud-Ascending Beast was a celestial beast after all, and it had not yet shown any signs of weakness. It just kept snorting in dissatisfaction while flying, as if it had caught a cold.
After that, they did not encounter any more spirits, and their journey was smooth. Along the way, Cao Xian briefly recounted his experiences. Huang Zhen and the other two immortals were greatly surprised and puzzled when they heard that a circle of sandbags had been erected around the elevator shaft, resembling barricades.
I can't figure out who did those useless things.
Upon arriving at King Biancheng's hunting grounds, the fairy maiden directed the Cloud-Ascending Beast to search in the direction she had come from. Soon, they found King Pingdeng's chariot slowly moving across the grassland. After bidding farewell to Cao Xian, Di Yun jumped off the Cloud-Ascending Beast.
The remaining immortals rode the Cloud Ascending Beasts back to the mountain peak where the passage to the Taiqing Immortal City was located.
Everyone jumped off the Cloud-Ascending Beast, but then they were in a dilemma. It turned out that the Cloud-Ascending Beast was so huge that it couldn't even stand on the mountaintop, let alone squeeze into the narrow passage.
"The Cloud-Ascending Beast can change its form, but others cannot do it. Only its master, King Biancheng, can do it. It seems we have no choice but to keep it here, which is a real pity," the fairy said regretfully, looking at the Cloud-Ascending Beast lingering at the edge of the peak.
This mountain peak is actually a load-bearing pillar for the eighteenth floor, and its top is connected to the ceiling of the floor, so the Cloud-Ascending Beast can no longer fly upwards here.
"Beast, can you shrink? If you shrink, I can take you out and send you back to the Immortal Realm, okay?" Wang Yao stood on the mountaintop, patting the Cloud-Ascending Beast's curly mane as he spoke to it.
The Cloud-Ascending Beast tilted its head and carefully examined Wang Yao, then stuck out its tongue and licked him. Its body actually visibly shrank a size.
"It really can shrink! That's great! My good beast, shrink a little smaller, it's still too big now, it would be better if it were smaller!" Wang Yao was very excited when he saw that his words had an effect, and he called out to the Cloud Ascending Beast.
The Cloud-Ascending Beast snorted twice at Wang Yao, and its body visibly shrank in circles until it was only the size of a cat, slowly flying around the immortals.
"This size is perfect! Come, come, come to me, let's ascend to immortality!" Wang Yao called out with a beaming smile, reaching out his hand to the Cloud Ascending Beast.
The Cloud-Ascending Beast was also mischievous. With a flash, it landed directly on Wang Yao's shoulder, rubbing its head heavily against Wang Yao's face and neck before settling there quietly, its eyes curiously observing the immortals around it.
"Alright! Let's go!" Wang Yao reached out and patted the Cloud-Ascending Beast, then turned around with a smile.
The immortals watched in amazement.
“Little Wang, you and this Cloud-Ascending Beast are quite destined. How could an ordinary immortal command a Cloud-Ascending Beast so easily?” the fairy maiden exclaimed from the side.
"No, it's just that this little thing doesn't want to stay here. Not only is there no food or water, but the corpse energy is getting stronger and stronger. If he doesn't come with us, is he supposed to stay here and eat the corpse energy?" Wang Yao laughed. "This little thing is quite intelligent. Didn't you manage things quite well before, Fairy?"
Before the fairy could respond, the mini cloud-climbing beast on Wang Yao's shoulder suddenly snorted, as if it had a strong objection to Wang Yao's statement.
The immortals couldn't help but laugh in astonishment. They entered the passage one after another, only to find a door in front of them. Pushing open the door led them to an elevator, which then swayed upwards. Soon, they arrived at Taiqing Immortal City.
