Chapter 236 Landing Plaza

Seeing Tongxuan nod, Huishuo reached into his robes and pulled out a large, rat-like object. Wang Yao immediately recognized it as the Cloud Ascending Beast he had found in the Underworld. Huishuo gently stroked the Cloud Ascending Beast's head.

"Hooray, we need to go to Tianchao City. Would you like to take us there?" Hui Shuo said softly.

Hui Shuo repeated it several times, and the seemingly sleeping Dengyun Beast finally opened its eyes. It looked at Hui Shuo sleepily, its expression showing a hint of impatience in a human-like way, but then its body gradually grew larger in Hui Shuo's palm.

Before long, the Cloud-Ascending Beast, which was as big as a giant elephant and several times larger than Tongxuan's donkey, lay down in front of Huishuo and Wang Yao.

"Father, Mother, hurry up and get on." Hui Shuo climbed onto the back of the Cloud-Ascending Beast somewhat clumsily, and then waved to Wang Yao.

Wang Yao used a magical technique called "Calling the Wind," and a gust of wind rose from beneath his feet. He then lightly leaped onto the back of the Cloud-Ascending Beast.

This was naturally the result of Wang Yao's private practice of immortal arts. He discovered that the immortal art of "calling the wind" could arbitrarily specify the location where the wind would rise within his field of vision, which led to this ingenious maneuver.

Since his "wind-calling" ability was only level 1 and the wind force was not very strong, he still needed to use the force to leap before he could ride the Cloud-Ascending Beast. However, he was still much more dashing than Hui Shuo.

"The immortal's donkey was cut out of paper. He cut one out for me to ride a couple of days ago, but I hadn't ridden it for more than a few steps when it woke up with a roar. The roar scared the donkey back into paper, and I almost fell half to my death."

"Luckily, the Great Immortal was riding his donkey backwards. When he saw that I was in trouble, he quickly came to my rescue, and I didn't fall. Later, I discovered that I could also ride on the back of the Hou'er, which was much more spacious than the back of the donkey." Hui Shuo chattered to Wang Yao on the back of the Dengyun Beast.

Wang Yao saw that the Great Immortal Tongxuan was indeed riding backwards on a donkey, and then following the main road by the pond toward the gate of the villa area with the plaque "Guanyuju" (Fish-Watching Residence).

At first, Tongxuan's speed wasn't too fast, but after leaving the villa area and turning onto the mountain road, he sat on his donkey and slowly took off, gradually increasing his speed.

The cloud-riding beast he was riding was indeed a celestial beast. Without them urging him, it rose higher than the donkey and kept a close distance from the donkey in front of him.

In the blink of an eye, the two riders disappeared into the mountains, where they saw two majestic peaks standing opposite each other, with a narrow road winding around them. At this moment, the donkey that the Great Immortal Tongxuan was riding was rising higher and higher, and soon they reached the top of the mountains, as if they were heading towards the setting sun on the mountaintop.

The cloud-climbing beast on this side was naturally not to be outdone, maintaining a distance that was several body lengths higher than the donkey but not obstructing its view, and following closely behind.

As the sun gradually set, Wang Yao saw on the other side of the mountain peak below, a majestic city quietly nestled among the surrounding mountains. From a distance, the city appeared to be filled with tall buildings, and although the layout was not neat, it was still clearly defined.

On the city streets, the traffic is bustling, and in the city sky, many things are flying in and out, rising and falling, as if a swarm of flies is hovering over the city, making it seem unusually busy.

As soon as they leaped over the mountain peak, the donkey ahead suddenly began to descend, and the Cloud-Ascending Beast that Wang Yao and the others were riding also descended. As they got closer and closer to the city, the donkey and the Cloud-Ascending Beast became lower and lower, and their speed also decreased significantly.

Soon, they began to fly close to the tops of the city's tall buildings, and the number of various kinds of spirits with outstretched wings flying around them gradually increased.

Wang Yao saw a tall billboard standing by the roadside flash past his feet, with six large, golden characters on it that read "Welcome to Tianchao".

Not long after entering the city, Tongxuan led Wang Yao and the others closer to a huge square in the center of the city. Wang Yao looked down and saw that in the center of the square stood a statue with a glowing top. There was nothing around the statue except for green grass.

As they approached the square, their altitude decreased further, and Wang Yao had already seen through the true forms of the spirits flying above the city.

The flying spirits were incredibly diverse, with the most numerous being humanoid spirits with wings like angels. There were also many that resembled dragonflies, butterflies, bees, and winged beetles, which were probably flying insect spirits that had not yet fully evolved.

However, besides these spirits and monsters that have the ability to fly, there are also some mechanical flying objects similar to helicopters in the human world.

These flying spirits and mechanical flying objects flew haphazardly over the city, mostly clustering above this square.

Wang Yao saw a humanoid monster flap its wings and fly rapidly towards the Great Immortal Tongxuan in front of him. The Great Immortal Tongxuan's donkey immediately stopped in mid-air.

The humanoid monster's wings were crystal clear, seemingly thin and fragile, yet adorned with black and green patterns. Wang Yao estimated that this creature was most likely a dragonfly spirit.

After exchanging a few words with the spirit, the Great Immortal Tongxuan pointed to Wang Yao and the others slightly above the spirit. The spirit turned around, nodded to the Cloud-Ascending Beast, took out a flashlight-like object, and slowly flew up until it was above Wang Yao and the others. Only then did it turn on the object in its hand towards the ground.

A thick, cylindrical, orange-yellow beam of light shone down onto the square, instantly creating a large orange-yellow circular "T" shape in the center of the ground.

The Zhanghuang clansmen flying in the light and shadow hurriedly dodged away, leaving an empty channel of light from top to bottom.
