"Oh, I see. Then please be careful. The conditions on this train are very poor. If you encounter any problems, please let us know and we will try our best to solve them... And you, I just closed the door for you. Be alert for your work. If the foreign guests need anything, please let me know."
The train conductor was much more responsible. After listening to Wang Yao's words, he gave them a couple of reminders, gave Li Manli some instructions, and then left.
The train moved forward, and it wasn't long before Wang Yao understood what this "migrant worker special train" meant. First of all, this train stopped at almost every small station, and secondly, the passengers were all noisy, bustling migrant worker rats.
As soon as these rats boarded the train, they rushed into the carriage like sprinters to claim seats, and then began shouting to their friends, "Where is so-and-so? They were just in front of me, where did they go?" "So-and-so, come over here!" "I'm going to sit over there with so-and-so..."
The seats were also categorized into different levels: not by the window, too far forward, too far back, aisle, etc. It was as if the seats in a train carriage were divided into several classes.
After these working rats had settled themselves and their relatives and friends down, they took out beer, braised dishes and peanuts, and started eating, drinking and laughing loudly, without stopping for a moment.
Seeing that everyone else was treating the window seats as the best seats, Wang Yao and Qinghe quickly switched seats and sat facing each other by the window, thus securing two good spots in the carriage.
The train had stopped at four or five stations in less than an hour, and the carriages that were empty not long ago were now full. But the train continued to stop at each station at a leisurely pace, and more and more migrant worker rats boarded the train.
At certain stations, a large horde of working rats would arrive, forming a long, fan-shaped queue at the narrow entrance of the carriage. They would desperately try to squeeze in, and some nimble rats would even climb through the windows to enter the carriage. The aisles were also occupied by rats.
Less than an hour later, the carriage was already packed. The aisles between the carriages, and around Wang Yao and Qing He, were filled with rats. Wang Yao even saw a rat crawling under the seat and lying there with its two legs stretched out in the aisle, almost like a zombie was shoved under the seat.
The carriage gradually transformed into a giant can, crammed full of rats huddled together. Even the rats sitting in their seats were forced to hunch over due to the pressure. A sour, foul smell began to permeate the carriage, but then it became strangely quiet.
Wang Yao and his companion were sitting relatively comfortably, but the mice still tried their best to keep their distance from them.
After all, Wang Yao often "cleaned himself up," and although he hadn't changed his suit, he still looked extremely neat. Qinghe's clothes, although they had some minor issues with the tailoring, still looked much more upscale than those of the working rats. It was clear that the two of them were not on the same side as these working rats.
These migrant worker rats were extremely excited at each stop. There were often fellow workers outside the train. Once they spotted each other, they would immediately shout at each other, exchanging pleasantries and showing great affection. However, no one wanted to get together with each other anymore.
After all, the carriage was completely immobile, yet the train continued to stop at station after station. When the carriage could no longer hold the rats, Wang Yao noticed that rats were starting to climb onto the roof of the carriage. The large cans finally overflowed.
It was completely dark when Wang Yao saw that these rats looked like they hadn't evolved at all. They were huddled on the roof of the train at night, which was extremely unsafe. Luckily it was summer, otherwise they would have frozen to death.
"Excuse me, brothers, could you please let my child stay here for one night? He can come out tomorrow morning. It's a bit cold outside. Excuse me, brothers..." At another stop, Wang Yao suddenly heard a woman's voice calling out helplessly amidst the noisy sounds in the darkness outside the train window.
He then realized that this was the Shu tribe, located at the northernmost tip of the entire Dongchuan continent, where the temperature difference between day and night was quite significant. Even though it was summer, it was still a bit chilly at night. This was a working mother trying to get her child into the carriage.
"You woman, why are you bringing your child along while you're working?" This is a migrant worker scolding the mother for not knowing what's important.
"It's okay, it's summer now, the roof is cool, let the kid stay up there, it's good for him to cool off!" This is the heartless migrant worker rat saying indifferently.
"Leave the kid to me, damn it, trying to make some money is just asking for trouble." A kind-hearted migrant worker behind Wang Yao stretched his arm out of the car window.
Wang Yao looked out along his arm and saw a rat with sparse, dry hair, whose gender was indistinguishable, standing in the darkness. She was carrying a large bag of luggage, which bent her back, but she was struggling to hand a baby with limbs moving to a large hand reaching out of the car window.
"Thank you so much, brother. The baby's father just passed away, and I'm the only one left in the family. I can't leave the baby..." the mother said, but the baby realized that he was going to leave his mother and immediately became unhappy, crying loudly in the night.
Upon seeing this scene, Wang Yao could no longer sit still. As an immortal, although he was able to detach himself from these ordinary people and demons, his compassion still swelled whenever he saw these women and children who were overwhelmed by the pressures of life.
Although they were just some lowly, insignificant mice.
"Come up here too, sit with me!" Wang Yao stood up and called out to his mother outside the window.
