Chapter 359 Escape

However, once the demon escapes, it becomes much more troublesome to kill it. Of the ten that escape, nine are able to temporarily escape with their lives.

Looking at the lesser demons in front of him, Wang Yao was unsure if these were the same group of lesser demons he had encountered on the Howling Grassland. Could it be that his fire hadn't killed them, and they had managed to take root and reproduce here?

"Wait a minute!"

General Pei suddenly stopped a divine soldier who was about to pull out the inferior demonic plant, turned to Wang Yao and gestured. Wang Yao nodded, took two steps forward, and began to chant towards the inferior demonic plant. Immediately afterwards, a small flame shot out from Wang Yao's fingertip and flew towards the inferior demonic plant.

"Get out of the way!" Seeing "Fire Control" activated, General Pei hurriedly reminded the divine soldier who was still standing in a daze next to the inferior demon plant. The divine soldier took two steps back, and saw that the small flame had already touched the leaves of the inferior demon plant and was burning with a whooshing sound.

At first, the fire wasn't very big, since Wang Yao, under duress, hadn't poured much spiritual power into the flames. But after a while, a sharp, shrill cry suddenly rang out, and the evil demonic plant suddenly leaped out of the ground.

Wang Yao watched as the flames quickly spread to the roots of the plant, causing the demon to scream and writhe in pain. Then, with a loud "bang," the demon exploded like a firework, scattering countless sparks that landed in the forest and immediately ignited into piles of flames.

Immediately afterwards, more fiery demonic plants jumped up, and so on, until a raging fire broke out in the forest. Amidst this, one could hear the "bang, bang" sounds of demonic creatures exploding in the fire, which were no different from the sounds of dry wood exploding.

The busy soldiers in the forest had all retreated long ago when they saw that things were not going well. At this point, Wang Yao finally realized that the group of inferior demons he had encountered before had probably been burned to ashes in the last fire.

General Pei nodded as he looked at the raging fire in the woods, then drew his long sword from his waist and turned to look at Wang Yao.

"Next time you come out, you'd better find a way to conceal the fluctuations of your spiritual energy, so you won't be easily discovered." General Pei reminded Wang Yao with a complicated expression. He was about to swing his sword at Wang Yao, but he stood there, sword in hand, staring wide-eyed in disbelief.

Wang Yao vanished from General Pei's sight as if he had used "teleportation." General Pei looked around, but could not find any trace of Wang Yao anywhere.

It turned out that when Wang Yao saw that General Pei was going to discard him after he had served his purpose, he hurriedly and silently crushed the hard piece in his hand. He felt his body lighten, and his vision suddenly went black, but soon he saw light again. The scenery around him changed, and he found himself in a completely unfamiliar place.

Gao Chong was unsure whether Wang Yao had truly mastered the Samadhi True Fire, so when he handed the hard piece to Wang Yao, he was actually giving him a great deal of freedom of action. Wang Yao could have crushed it as soon as he left the castle to escape, but he still wanted to see the power of his "fire control," so he waited until the very end.

This is probably what "teleportation" or "flash" means. I wonder how far this place is from Gale Keep.

Wang Yao looked around and realized that where he was standing seemed to be a very small fish market. Not far away, there was a simple dock made of wooden piles, with some sampans and dilapidated wooden boats moored. In the distance, fishing boats with their sails unfurled were slowly approaching, and the wind carried the scent of the ocean.

Some people around were carrying their catch in tattered fish baskets, some were cutting up large fish on dirty cutting boards, and others were cleaning and tidying up their fishing gear. In short, everyone was very busy, and it seemed that no one noticed that Wang Yao, this immortal, had suddenly appeared in the fish market.

After calming himself down, Wang Yao walked up to a butcher who was cleaning fish nearby.

"Excuse me, where is this place?" Wang Yao asked.

"This is Dark...Dark Moon Village...You...outsider?" The butcher wiped the bloodstains and filth from his hands with a dirty rag and looked at Wang Yao in surprise, because Wang Yao's dirty white suit was too eye-catching.

Wang Yao was willing to use a "self-cleaning" technique to clean himself up, but after General Pei's reminder, he was afraid that if he used magic, the hunters would detect his location again.

"How far is it from here to Gale Fortress?" Wang Yao nodded and then asked.

“Swiftwind Fortress…never heard of it.” The butcher shook his head blankly at him. He tossed handfuls of the freshly cut fish pieces from the cutting board into a wooden basin beside him.

It seems the distance is not short. Gao Chong probably gave him a large "flash". If it were "teleport", he should be at Wuling Pass or where Yue Fei is right now. After all, they are old acquaintances, and it would be awkward to shout and kill each other.

However, it's hard to say. After all, he was tasked by the God to be killed, and it's quite possible that Gao Chong, fearing to cause trouble for Yue Fei, sent himself to this remote seaside location.

He frowned, sniffed the strong fishy smell in the air, and turned to leave.

"Hey! Out-of-towner, be careful. I heard there are some demons lurking around here lately," the butcher kindly warned him from behind.

This fish market, connected to the dock, was built at the foot of a rugged cliff. A steep stone staircase carved into the rock next to it went straight up to the top of the cliff. There weren't many people coming to the fish market, but Wang Yao noticed that they were all coming and going on this stone staircase.

Wang Yao noticed an elderly man struggling to walk up the stone steps. The location of the dock was extremely inconvenient; to buy a fish, one had to climb a mountain.

"Shall I help you?" Finding no way to go either way, Wang Yao stepped onto the stone steps and caught up with the old man. The old man seemed to have an injury in his foot, and he walked unsteadily and shakily on the stone steps, looking as if he was about to fall down several times. Wang Yao thought of going forward to help him.
