"After all, there's no other way out of this hellhole except to force our way into the Burial Abyss and the secret passage. There's nowhere to escape. Mr. Zuo and the others thought this was a paradise, but it's clearly a dead end. Once the secret passage is sealed, it's like trapping a dog in a cage," Instructor Tao said, shaking his head.
"The hunting team has been down there for three days without any news. I've been worried about them. I'm sending you down this time so I can check on their situation. I only ask one thing of you: once you get out, you must find the Divine Weapon Team, whether it's Commander Hua or Commander Liang, and ask them to come and rescue us as soon as possible."
"Although there aren't many people here, there are still over two hundred. Even if they can hide for a while, they can't stay here forever. Most of them don't even have the ability to resist inferior demons. The situation is extremely urgent. Please, reinforcements, do not delay and come as soon as possible."
Instructor Tao stopped and said sternly to Wang Yao.
"Uh..." Wang Yao scratched his head. Putting aside whether he could find the divine army after going down, even if he were asked to meet the divine soldiers and generals now, that would be like going to the toilet with a lantern in hand, courting death.
But... if I just hide in the mountains, will the hunters not find me? Can I really get away with it for thirty days? If the hunters come, won't I end up like these Darkmoon Village villagers, the ones who will lock me up and beat me, with nowhere to run?
Therefore, it is definitely not advisable to stay here for long. Let's go down with Instructor Tao for now and then travel to the immortal realm. The divine realm is so vast. As long as I, an immortal, don't cause too much trouble, I can stay in one place for a day or two and complete the mission without much difficulty.
As for the villagers of Darkmoon Village... they can wait until they have the opportunity or until the last day of those thirty days, after completing their mission, and then find a way to notify Gao Chong and the others.
The villagers must have been hiding here for many years, so they wouldn't mind waiting another thirty days... oh no, including today, there are only 28 days left. There's no reason they wouldn't be able to hold on, and besides... many of Tao's companions never came back, didn't they?
It's normal for us to be gone and never come back, since we're only at the Qi Refining stage!
Having made up his mind, Wang Yao smiled and nodded at Instructor Tao. Instructor Tao gave him a serious look, then turned around and led Wang Yao forward.
They walked to an inconspicuous thatched hut in the western corner of the village. After Tao Jiaotou stopped and looked around, seeing that there were no villagers in sight, he waved to Wang Yao and stepped into the hut first. Wang Yao followed and found that it did not look like anyone lived inside.
There was nothing in the thatched hut except for some large stones piled up haphazardly in the corner. Tao Jiaotou stepped forward and moved the stones aside, revealing a dark, gaping hole underneath. Tao Jiaotou gestured to Wang Yao and then quietly jumped into the hole.
Wang Yao hurriedly followed and climbed down. The cave was very dark, but Wang Yao could feel the ladders carved out of the cave walls, which allowed people to climb up and down using their hands and feet.
The two climbed in the dark cave for a short while before they sensed light coming from below. Soon after, they emerged from the cave and found themselves on an extremely steep mountainside.
There's only a tiny space at the entrance of the cave to stand in; beyond that lies a bottomless abyss, much like the exit of the eighteenth floor of the underworld.
They saw Instructor Tao grab a polished rock at the cave entrance and turn to the right, clinging to the mountain wall. Wang Yao followed suit. After passing it, they found another narrow path clinging to the mountain wall. The two followed the path for a short distance and then entered another cave.
The two climbed down the cave for a long time. After exiting the cave, they changed their position slightly and found a small path along the mountain wall to continue down. They went in and out of the cave four or five times. Finally, when the two came out of the cave again, they were at the foot of the mountain.
When Instructor Tao emerged from the cave, he first looked around warily, then made a few cooing sounds like the birds in the mountains. After waiting for a while and seeing no response from the silent mountains, he pointed south to Wang Yao with his finger.
"When you get back, just tell them we're on the Sky Pillar, 200 miles south of Darkmoon City, and they'll know our location," Instructor Tao whispered to Wang Yao. Wang Yao nodded and turned to leave.
He had only taken a few steps forward when he turned around and saw that Instructor Tao had already bent down and lay prone in the grass at the entrance of the cave. He would stop after a few steps and look around carefully, observing silently for a while before continuing to slowly move forward.
Wang Yao also didn't want to run into the demons here, so he followed Tao Jiaotou's example, bent down, and carefully left the cave entrance, tiptoeing into the distance as he went.
After walking about five or six hundred meters, he suddenly stopped. A plant in the grass ahead caught his eye—it was a Lesser Demon! Wang Yao recognized it at a glance. The Lesser Demon had actually taken root here. It seemed that what Instructor Tao said about the urgency was indeed true.
To avoid alerting the demon before them, Wang Yao quietly took a large detour to avoid it. The cave entrance they came out of faced east, and Instructor Tao was also groping eastward. He looked at the sun in the sky, determined the direction, and then groped southward.
The surrounding area was lush with trees and overgrown with weeds. It was quite painful not to activate "sensing" in such an environment. He always felt that enemies might jump out from the bushes or behind the trees at any time. After walking nearly a kilometer to the south, Wang Yao looked back and could no longer see Tao Jiaotou.
"Why don't we just spend the day here?" Wang Yao felt that even this short distance had exhausted him, and he couldn't help but think of taking a break.
For him, it didn't really matter where he went, as long as he didn't encounter divine soldiers, monsters, or hunters. So staying here wasn't unacceptable; he could just find another place to hide for another day tomorrow.
