Chapter 369 A Glimmer of Hope

The villagers all hid behind Wang Yao and Instructor Tao, while only a few war gods came near them, drawing their bows and nocking arrows, ready to attack the evil demon at any moment.

"Why is there no sound from the secret passage? Have the demon bastards given up on attacking from there this time?" Instructor Tao muttered to himself as he watched the ferocious demon fly closer and closer, drawing back his bow.

Before Instructor Tao could finish speaking, Wang Yao had already completed his chant, and a stream of fire shot straight out from his fingertip. He had timed it perfectly, just as the evil demon spread its wings, preparing to release the inferior demon.

The blazing fire struck the ferocious demon precisely. With a loud "boom," a ball of flame suddenly exploded from the demon's abdomen, instantly engulfing its body. Countless scattered flames shot out in all directions, just like a giant firework exploding in the air.

Immediately afterwards, with a "snap," an arrow shot out from Tao Jiaotou's bowstring. The crowd saw the ball of fire in the air split into three balls, one large and two small, which fell straight down and landed with a "bang" on the hilltop not far from them.

Sparks flew everywhere, and soon the village, which had been extinguished, was rekindled.

"Crack, crack, crack..." One arrow after another pierced into the three flames. After a volley of arrows, everyone stopped and looked at each other in bewilderment. The flames on the ground burned brighter and brighter, but there was no sign of any living creature moving within them.

"Put out the fire, they should be completely dead." Tao Jiaotou took two steps forward, looked around, and nodded to Wang Yao.

Wang Yao stretched out his hand, and a stream of fiery spiritual energy flowed back into his body like a rainbow. Three black corpses were left on the ground: a winged ferocious demon and two hyena-like battle demons.

The fire could not kill the War Demon, and the extent of the damage it could inflict on the Ferocious Demon could only be determined by seeing it with one's own eyes. After extinguishing the fire, Wang Yao stepped over and carefully examined the still intact corpses of the Ferocious Demon and the War Demon.

"We won again!"

The surrounding villagers, seeing the corpses of the high-ranking demons on the ground, suddenly cheered. They had never expected the battle to go so smoothly, eliminating two war demons and one ferocious demon without any casualties, and countless inferior demons were also reduced to ashes in the flames.

This impressive victory was like a shot in the arm for them, making them realize that they had a good chance of surviving. They were so excited that they didn't know what to do, jumping and shouting with abandon.

Wang Yao crouched down and reached out to lift the demon's large wings that almost covered its head.

Apart from its wings covered in black feathers and its face covered in gaudy tattoos, this guy's appearance was not much different from that of an ordinary person. Wang Yao noticed that there were huge, curved bone spurs under its wings.

Those inferior demons and war demons were probably carried to the sky by the fierce demons by clinging to these bone spikes. There were still traces of what appeared to be the charred remains of the inferior demons on the bone spikes. He was about to examine the effects of the Samadhi True Fire on the fierce demons when he suddenly frowned and looked up at the exit of the secret passage.

Since he used "Fire Control," Wang Yao also activated "Sensing." As the saying goes, "the more debts you have, the less you worry; the more lice you have, the less they itch." Now that he had used his magic, there was no need to hide it anymore and cause trouble for himself.

He was able to accurately seize the opportunity to strike the evil demon just now, which was entirely due to his "sensory" prediction. At this moment, Wang Yao's "sensory" discovered that something seemed to be happening at the exit of the secret passage to his side and rear.

A cloud of blood mist quietly bloomed not far from the exit of the secret passage, and then another villager standing near the exit of the secret passage turned into a cloud of blood mist without warning.

Wang Yao's eyes widened and he stood up abruptly. He discovered that the rows of deer stockades that had surrounded the exit of the secret passage had somehow turned into scattered pieces of charred wood.

"Watch out!" Coach Tao screamed hoarsely. One after another, the cheering villagers exploded, blood splattering everywhere. Wang Yao saw Mr. Zuo standing blankly in place, his face covered with bloodstains splattered from the deaths of the surrounding villagers.

In the blink of an eye, more than a dozen villagers died inexplicably. Only then did everyone realize what was happening, and they all ran away in panic. Wang Yao heard Coach Tao shout, and a cloud of dust suddenly burst up from the chaotic crowd.

Then, with a "thud," Coach Tao's body fell to the ground at Wang Yao's feet.

It was a gaunt, unfamiliar man with an indifferent expression. He glanced at Wang Yao through the smoke and dust, then turned to look at the villagers fleeing in all directions on the mountaintop. He didn't make any move, but wherever he looked, the villager who had fled the farthest immediately exploded and died.

"Mad...mad..." Instructor Tao lay on the ground, muttering to himself, blood gushing out continuously.

By this time, Wang Yao finally understood what had happened. He nervously pondered whether he should immediately escape through the secret passage or go to the hiding place that Dark Moon Village had prepared for him.

The man's intention was clear: to slaughter the entire village like a cat playing with a mouse. Wang Yao had already been noticed, and neither hiding nor running away seemed safe. But staying to fight this guy? Wang Yao had no confidence at all.

The Mad Demon is a powerful figure at the Nascent Soul level in the Immortal Realm. In his eyes, he, a mere Qi Refining cultivator, is not even as good as an ant.

However, at that moment, the man stopped killing, raised his head, and stared at the sky with a frown.

With a crisp snap, the bowstring rang out. Wang Yao noticed the man's expression tense up, but after the snap, nothing seemed amiss. Just as he was wondering what was going on, the man suddenly turned to look at Wang Yao in surprise.
