Chapter 369 A Glimmer of Hope

Wang Yao and the man stared at each other for a few seconds. Suddenly, his body went limp, and a sharp pain shot through his back. He immediately understood everything.

The man stared at Wang Yao in astonishment, his expression as if he had seen a ghost. He took several steps back, and then his figure suddenly disappeared from Wang Yao's sight.

Seeing the madman disappear, Wang Yao lowered his head blankly. A wave of weakness, as if all the energy had been drained from his body, swept over him, and he collapsed to the ground with a thud.

Damn it, we've been ambushed again! This is the second time! Wang Yao was extremely annoyed, but he couldn't muster any strength at all, and could only watch the earth tremble slightly before his eyes.

"Stop chasing!" a voice shouted, and it was indeed General Shan.

"The forger seems to be still alive." Wang Yao recognized the accent; it must be General Pei.

"Don't kill him! Don't kill him! You can't kill him!" Mr. Zuo's shrill voice came from afar, and then Wang Yao felt a body leaning against his back.

"Please step aside, sir, this is our mission..." General Pei tried to persuade Mr. Zuo.

“This immortal is our friend, you cannot kill him!” Mr. Zuo’s slightly breathless voice rang firmly in Wang Yao’s ears.

"Kill him too." General Shan remained indifferent.

"I...I have never killed any of the people of the gods..." General Pei was clearly somewhat resistant.

"Hurry up! This mission has been delayed for too long, and we will surely be punished by the gods when we return!" General Shan was quite impatient.

"What right do you have?" Suddenly a clear female voice rang out, and Wang Yao recognized it as the wife of one of the villagers.

"This immortal came here without eating a single grain of rice or drinking a single drop of water. He helped us transplant thorns and burned many evil demons to death. Look at the soil under your feet; it's all black. You came here but didn't kill the mad demons; instead, you want to kill this immortal. Are you the demons?"

The woman cried out in grief and indignation.

"Yes, you also want to kill Mr. Zuo. You don't kill the demons, but you come to kill us. Are you demons in the guise of gods?"

"What a powerful divine general! So he specializes in killing the people of the gods!"

"What kind of divine generals are you? If you have the guts, kill us all, otherwise we'll definitely go to the God Lord and demand an explanation!"

...

Having just experienced life and death, the people of the gods were extremely excited and started shouting in twos and threes.

"Don't talk nonsense! Do you think I really wouldn't dare to kill you?" General Shan angrily rebuked.

"Everyone, let's talk this out and not be impulsive! Where is Doctor Wang? Quickly ask him to come and see Immortal Wang!" Mr. Zuo also shouted, trying to calm the villagers down.

"Doctor Wang is dead! He was just crushed by that madman!" a villager shouted.

"Don't worry, old man, this immortal won't die anytime soon. You should get up," General Pei said gently to Mr. Zuo.

“General, once the demons open up a second battlefield in the fjord below, they can silently invade the heart of the divine realm. I don’t know why you want to kill this immortal, but I think this matter is more important than killing the immortal, isn’t it?”

Mr. Zuo did not get up, but pointed in the direction of the Burial Abyss and murmured.

"Furthermore, I don't think the two of you are subordinates of our Lord of the Sea Reclamation. I think you should take this immortal to ask the Lord of the Sea Reclamation what he thinks. Otherwise, if you offend our Lord, you two might not be able to explain yourselves."

“General Shan, when I came here, I saw that the Demon Clan’s vanguard had already reached Wanghai City. This place should be an enclave of the Divine Realm that has fallen into the Demon Clan’s occupied territory. What this old gentleman said is probably true,” General Pei said.

"What a joke! If they were really holding out here for that fjord, how could the Lord of Reclamation of the Sea not know? And what use could these wandering ghosts possibly be?" General Shan clearly did not believe what Mr. Zuo said.

"Among the six divine domains of our divine realm, the Sea-Reclamation Divine Domain is the weakest. Is it possible that the Lord of the Sea-Reclamation Divine Domain is willing but unable to do so?" General Pei was not discouraged, but continued to persuade General Shan.

"Besides, we can't really kill these people of the gods, can we? Why don't we do as the old man suggested and take the blacksmith to ask the local deity what she thinks, so we can also report the matter of the fjord to her?"

"Hmm...Are you sure you want to do this?" General Shan finally hesitated after hearing General Pei's words.

"I believe that we are, after all, divine generals, and it is our duty to slay demons. As for killing this immortal... it is best to leave it to the God Lord to decide," General Pei said.

“We don’t come to the Sea-Reclamation Divine Realm often, so it’s only right to report to the local deity. However… I still think you’re overdoing it. How about this, if you insist, take this immortal to the Sea-Reclamation Divine Temple.” General Shan finally relented.

"You...you...aren't you going?" General Pei was quite surprised.

“Since you’re going to see the God-King of this realm, how can we just let these people under her rule fend for themselves? What if the demons attack again? You go ahead, I’ll figure out a way to settle them in a proper place,” General Shan said irritably.

"Well... General, be careful, I'll be right back."

"Mind your own business."

“Old sir, did you hear that? I’ll take this immortal to see your Lord God right now. General Shan will stay here to protect you. Now you can rest assured, right?” General Pei didn’t stand on ceremony and went to persuade Mr. Zuo next.

"Thank you both, great generals!" Mr. Zuo said. Wang Yao felt Mr. Zuo leave his back, and then he felt his body lighten as he was lifted up in mid-air.
