Chapter Ninety-Seven: Haste makes waste



Ling Shen didn't say anything; he just silently pulled the egg tarts towards himself.

The little girl: "......."

She realized he was being possessive of his food.

The little girl rubbed the spot on the back of her hand that had been hit and hurt.

Although Ling Shen still didn't speak, he had at least given her a response.

Although the little girl was young, she understood the principle of taking things one step at a time. She stopped making a fuss with Ling Shen and instead watched him eat quietly.

The room was already quiet, and after the little girl stopped talking, the only sound was the crisp sound of the silver spoon hitting the glass.

Ling Shen didn't mind being watched, so he just kept eating quietly.

But he hadn't eaten properly in a long time, and he could only eat one of those two egg tarts.

After he couldn't eat anymore and put down his fork...

The little girl couldn't resist and asked, "Tomorrow I'll ask Sister Zhiyao to make something else. Do you want some?"

Ling Shen didn't speak. He silently put down the fork, then turned around, went back to his bed, lay down, pulled the covers up, and resumed his reclusive mode.

The little girl: "......"

Well, being too hasty backfired and caused all our efforts to be wasted.

The little girl tidied up the food Ling Shen hadn't finished eating, then carried the tray downstairs.

When she went downstairs, Ning Zhiyao also returned.

Ning Zhiyao saw her sitting in the living room with a half-eaten egg tart in front of her and laughed, "Why did you only eat half of it today?"

The little girl shrugged and said, "I didn't eat it."

Ning Zhiyao paused, her face full of disbelief. If she didn't eat it, then who did?

She still couldn't believe it and asked again, "Did the child eat that?"
