As soon as the mechanical female voice announced "Exam Over" for the last subject, the students cheered after the teacher collected the exam papers, "It's over! It's finally over!"

The school will suspend classes after the final exams, but will instead open a tutoring class to teach the content of the next semester in advance.

For studious students, their vacation doesn't start for another two weeks, but for these young ladies and gentlemen, their vacation begins right after the exams.

Ke Shuyao handed in his paper early and stood outside the door with a grin, waiting for Sang Nuo to come out.

Upon seeing Ke Shuyao, Sanno quickly finished writing in two swift strokes and dashed out.

Wen Yan and Liu Xirou packed their things and walked out of the classroom with smiles.

Mosa rushed out, mindful of Liu Xirou's well-being, gently put her arm around their shoulders, and stepped between them, saying, "Want to go shopping with us tomorrow? It's almost Chinese New Year, let's buy some new clothes."

“Okay.” Liu Xirou smiled at her. “The clothes I’m wearing now are ones I bought last year. I’ll go buy some new ones.”

Mosa turned to Wenyan and asked, "Are you going or not?"

Wen Yan sighed, "I'm going to the company with my brother tomorrow."

Mosa looked at him pitifully, "Your brother still hasn't let you off the hook?"

Wen Yan shook his head, looking dejected. "Besides going to school, I can't step out of the house now." Even his boxing lessons have been suspended, so he can only practice boxing at home.

Liu Xirou and Mo Sha looked at him with sympathy.

In the bright and spacious office, Wen Ling was engrossed in her work, her brows furrowed, and the sound of turning pages grew increasingly heavy—a sign that someone was about to suffer misfortune.

Sure enough, the next second, Ling called her secretary, who then called several people to come up and get scolded.

The elites of several industries were now trembling with fear, not daring to utter a sound, and bowing their heads to endure the scolding.

Wen Ling slammed the proposal they submitted down on his hand, and the group lowered their heads even further. Wen Ling said in a deep voice, "What are these things? Are they drafts?"

Wen Yan withdrew her gaze, afraid that her anger would spread to him, and quietly looked at her own documents.

He'd been looking at documents in the office for almost a week, but still couldn't figure them out. Luckily, his brother wasn't testing him.

The group, trembling with fear, promised to come up with a reasonable solution by tomorrow. After receiving Wen Ling's order to leave, they ran away as fast as the wind.

“Xiao Yan,” Wen Ling suddenly called to him, “come here.”

Wen Yan smiled, but felt uneasy as she slowly walked over.

"Give me a shoulder massage."

"Oh, okay." Wen Yan relaxed, as long as he wasn't being scolded.

Wen Ling's tense body gradually relaxed. He closed his eyes and said softly, "Am I being too strict with you, brother?"

Wen Yan lied and said, "No, no, I've wanted to come to the company to learn for a long time."

"Now that you're on vacation again, have any friends invited you out?" Wen Ling opened her eyes, her gaze drifting to the green plants. "You and Su Jibai haven't gone on a date in a long time either."

Wen Yan held back her tears and gritted her teeth, saying, "Sigh, I don't know how long I've been playing around. I should settle down. Dating... there will be plenty of time for dating in the future."

Wen Ling laughed, a laugh that frightened Wen Yan. He thought his brother had become obsessed with work.

"You're becoming more and more sensible." Wen Ling felt both gratified and heartbroken.

In his view, Wen Yan was still a child and shouldn't be involved in company affairs so early. But Wen Yan had changed. He was no longer the mischievous and unambitious boy he used to be. Letting him into the company was also to let him get used to the company's atmosphere.

Now that Ji Weixuan is eyeing him covetously, he is afraid that if he is not careful, Wen Yan will have a piece of his flesh bitten off.

Even if Ji Weixuan goes to a sanatorium, Wen Ling doesn't think he'll be locked up there for life. Maybe he's already planning how to escape.

He could only feel at ease when Wen Yan was in the company, right under his nose.

Hearing Wenyan's sensible words, he couldn't help but feel worried. After thinking it over again, he said, "Grandpa and Grandma will be coming tomorrow. During this time, you should spend more time with them and not go out wandering around."

If we can't go out, staying home and sleeping in is fine too.

Wen Yan suppressed the upturned corners of her mouth, her hands massaging her shoulders becoming increasingly firm. "Okay!"

Sensing the change in intensity, Wen Ling smiled and resumed handling official business.

After a hearty meal and drinks, and especially after gaining her freedom tonight, Wenyan's thoughts drifted, eventually landing on her boyfriend whom she hadn't seen in a long time.

Having not seen Su Jibai for several days, Wen Yan really missed him. As the saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder... no, a day apart feels like three autumns, and he was itching to see him again.

Before the chat window even opened, Su Jibai's video call popped up instantly.

Wen Yan was startled. He covered his phone with the blanket as if he were burying his head in the sand, then rushed to close the doors and windows. Only after making sure everything was safe did he open the phone.

Su Jibai leaned against the bed frame, a smile in his eyes, his cheeks rosy, and tiny water droplets occasionally dripping from the ends of his slightly damp hair. He had a towel draped over his shoulder and was wearing cotton pajamas, clearly having just taken a shower.

Are you still busy lately?

Wen Yan flipped the camera over and chuckled twice, "My brother told me to stay home, so I don't have to go to the company."

Su Jibai smiled and said, "Then can I come to find you?"

“Uh…” Wen Yan’s cheeks flushed red. “It probably won’t work. My grandparents are coming tomorrow.”

"But what can I do if I really want to see you?"

Wen Yan smiled smugly, "Just you wait!"

Su Jibai showed a hurt expression.

"I was just teasing you," Wen Yan quickly said. "I miss you too. Let's meet again when we pay our New Year's visits."

"It's been a long time."

Wen Yan rested her chin on her hand, her eyes crinkling with a smile. "Not long, not long. By then, we'll sneak out to play. With so many people around, my brother won't be able to look after me."

Su Jibai's smile deepened, and the corners of his mouth curled up slightly.

Wenyan asked, "What have you been up to lately?"

"I'm helping my dad at the company, but unfortunately we haven't had any business dealings with your company lately." Su Jibai said with some regret. He didn't need to come to the company so early; he only told his dad he was going to help out to increase his chances of meeting Wen Yan.

Now he doesn't want to go, and his dad won't let him go either.

“You can still help?” Wen Yan’s eyes lit up, but then dimmed. “I’m just making things worse for my brother.”

Su Jibai: "His real intention wasn't what it seemed. He brought you into the company to protect you, not because he really wanted you to help. I actually joined the company to learn from my dad's assistant, otherwise I wouldn't know anything."

When Wenling asked him to go to the company, all he did was study documents; he didn't actually teach him anything.

Thinking about it this way, Wenyan felt much better, and a smile returned to her face.

There was a knock on the door, and Grandpa's voice rang out, "Xiao Yan, come out and play a few games of chess with Grandpa."

"They're here!"

Wen Yan smiled and waved to the person on the screen, "I'm leaving, bye-bye~"

"Bye-Bye."

In the living room upstairs, Grandma sat on the sofa watching TV with a smile on her face. Grandpa, wearing glasses, sat at the chess table in front of the balcony.

When Liang Yueqi saw him, her smile became even more kind. "Xiao Yan, come and watch TV with Grandma."

Wen Tingfeng snorted, "I called him first, first come, first served."

Liang Yueqi rolled her eyes at him, "I didn't say I was going to fight you for it."

Wenyan was already used to their flirtatious way of getting along. After calmly greeting her grandmother, she sat down in front of her grandfather.

Wen Tingfeng said magnanimously, "Grandpa will let you go first, you can go down first."

Wen Yan sighed, thinking to himself: You are a Go master. Even if I gave you a rook and a cannon, I still couldn't win.

The two were engrossed in their game of chess. Wen Yan's "horse" had been almost completely captured by Wen Tingfeng, and he was holding his "pawn" but didn't know what to do next.

Seeing his worried expression, Wen Tingfeng was quite pleased and said with a smile, "Do you want Grandpa to give you back your horse?"

"Yes, yes, yes!" Wen Yan excitedly moved the "horse" to a different position. She couldn't afford to lose too badly, even though it wasn't exactly a good loss anyway.

Liang Yueqi glanced around the chessboard twice and said, "You shameless old man, your pawns have all been killed by Xiaoyan's cannon. Hurry up and take them out."

The grandfather and grandson looked at each other and realized it was true.

Wen Ting was so engrossed in playing with Wen Yan that he forgot all about his own chess game. He coughed and said, "Little Yan is playing quite well too."

Wen Yan chuckled and took out the "Pawn".

After finishing two games of chess, the two left the chessboard to watch TV with Liang Yueqi. The two grandparents were extremely focused, as if afraid of missing any plot points.

Wen Yan watched the melodramatic love story of a wealthy family on TV and found it somewhat amusing. He had assumed that rich people would scoff at such soap operas, but he was surprised to find that they were also thoroughly enjoying them.

Suddenly remembering that Lin Jiapeng had mentioned that Long Chen's great-grandmother was an ordinary person who married into a wealthy family, he asked curiously, "Who is Long Chen's great-grandmother?"

Just as it was time for the commercial break, Grandpa's eyes lit up, and he began to tell the story of Long Chen's great-grandfather and great-grandmother.

Although Long Wang's lineage was the main family, the company's shares had long been divided up, leaving only the share his father left him. His uncles and aunts were shrewd and capable, holding the reins of the company, which led to a decline in the Long family's status within the Long clan.

Long Wang, trapped in strife, could only relax by immersing himself in nature. So he met Bai Qian, Long Chen's great-grandmother, in a small town.

They fell in love at first sight, and within a month they were planning to get married. Despite his family's objections, Long Wang and Bai Qian entered into marriage.

Long Wang's father originally wanted Long Wang to marry into a powerful and influential family in order to reclaim the rights that belonged to their lineage. Therefore, he was furious about Long Wang's actions and took back his shares, which was practically driving Long Wang out of the Long family.

Long Wang and Bai Qian were both easygoing and content with their lot, so they quickly distanced themselves from the power struggles within the Long family and settled in a small town.

But their son was the complete opposite. After learning that he should have been born into a prestigious family, Long Yi became ambitious. He first entered the company and showed his talent, and then caught the attention of his grandfather and was directly promoted to management. From then on, he began his life of vying for power and profit.

Wen Yan propped her chin on her hand and said, "So, Long Lingtian dislikes Liu Xirou so much because he doesn't want her family to follow in his grandfather's footsteps?"

“That’s right.” Wen Tingfeng took a sip of tea. “Having grown accustomed to a life of luxury and absolute power, how could he possibly want to retreat to the mountains like Tao Yuanming?”

“He thought the girl was ordinary and indifferent to fame and fortune, which is why he was in a hurry to make his son break up with her.” Liang Yueqi shook his head and chuckled. “Unexpectedly, the girl turned the tables on him. Realizing her ruthlessness, he stopped interfering with their relationship.”

"So that's how it is." Wen Yan suddenly understood. He originally thought that Long Lingtian let go because of Wu Huan, but he didn't expect that it was because he saw Liu Xirou's methods and knew that she was not a person who did not fight for anything that he tacitly allowed them to be in a relationship.

As if struck by a thought, Liang Yueqi's eyes held a mischievous smile. "Does our Xiaoyan have someone she likes? Why haven't I ever heard you ask her about it before?"

"Oh?" Wen Tingfeng took off his glasses and turned around. "Whose daughter is she? It doesn't matter who she is, as long as you like her. Our family is not a feudal family from the Qing Dynasty."

When Wen Yan heard his description, she almost burst out laughing. Seeing their probing gazes, she could only smile awkwardly, unsure of how to respond. Then she looked up and saw her brother leaning against the wall, looking at her with a mocking expression.

"Brother, you're back." Wen Yan ran over to take off his coat, pushed him to sit on the sofa, poured a cup of tea and placed it in front of him, "You must be tired after a long day at work, have some tea."

The elderly couple's attention was indeed diverted, and they stopped focusing on the previous question, chatting happily with Wenling.
