"Godmother, having only one heir isn't necessarily a bad thing. You also come from a prominent family. With so many brothers, if only one can inherit the family business, can the others feel at peace with it?"
"Yeah. I don't know what to do now. Luckily you came to talk to me, otherwise I would have been so bored."
"You're exaggerating. Children and grandchildren have their own blessings to live."
"That's what they say, but when it comes to my own situation, I just can't stay calm."
"Godmother, aren't you arranging blind dates for Carlos? Isn't there anyone he likes?"
"Huh? Carlos didn't tell you when he called?"
"What are you saying? Nothing, you're just asking Annie and me to come home for dinner? Are we going to have a blind date at home tonight?"
“They had dinner together last night. I bet Carlos doesn’t even know what the girl looks like. Your godfather and I both think she’s nice.”
Carlos is now acting a bit recklessly; if we agree, he has no objections, so he's arranged for the girls to come over for dinner tonight.
Carlos was mainly worried about Anne, so he wanted to hear Anne's opinion.
"It was my selfishness that ruined my son. If Annie were a boy, I would never have forced Carlos to have him." Huang Meihua's eyes reddened as she finished speaking.
Annie, who was upstairs, felt very sad after hearing her grandmother's words. She knew that her father still loved her the most, and that her grandmother was only trying to do what was best for the family.
If this young lady is willing, I'll agree, so as not to put my father in a difficult position. Another thought popped into my head: how wonderful it would be if I were a boy!
But then she immediately thought that even though she was a girl, she would definitely become the pride of her father and family.
Annie made a secret resolution that she must succeed in the future and make her father proud to have her as his daughter!
Neither of the two people downstairs noticed a small figure quietly turn around and leave.
"Godmother, don't be sad. What you and Godfather have chosen will surely be good. Just hope that they can fall in love with each other slowly in the future. That will be your happiest time."
"But I also hope my son can be happy. I hope this young lady and my son are destined to be together!"
"Godmother, let's go to the greenhouse and see that there are two beautiful pots of flowers."
"Daughter, thank you so much, godmother, for listening to my rambling!"
"As long as you feel better, that's all that matters. I think people get sick because they're angry or unhappy, so you have to try to think positively!" The two said as they walked toward the greenhouse.
Zhang Hongmei stayed by Huang Meihua's side until nightfall, telling her jokes and trying her best to make her happy.
Beth arrived home first and was relieved to see a genuine smile on his wife's face. He was extremely grateful to Zhang Hongmei; the child was wonderful, but unfortunately, he and his son were not meant to be together.
“Meihua, Carlos has gone to pick up Miss Elizabeth Bassola. I estimate they should be back in an hour.”
"Okay. I've arranged everything. Go take a shower, and then go keep Annie company. She's not happy today."
"I'll go see Annie first, you two can chat."
Carlos returned in fifty minutes, just in time.
The two elderly people didn't need to go out to greet her on this occasion, but Zhang Hongmei still held Annie's hand, and the two of them went out to greet her.
Even though Carlos was dissatisfied, he still opened the door for the lady with great gentlemanly manners.
As Elizabeth Bassola got out of the car, she saw a beautiful woman leading a little girl out.
Knowing in her heart that this was Carlos's daughter, and that must be the eldest daughter of the McCann family, she wore a polite smile.
Zhang Hongmei, holding Annie's hand, also arrived at the car. Annie let go of Carlos's hand and hugged his leg, "Daddy!"
"My darling, my angel!" Carlos knelt down and kissed his daughter's forehead.
Zhang Hongmei smiled and said, "Miss Bassola, please come in."
Carlos picked up his daughter. "Miss Basora, please come in."
Elizabeth smiled and nodded to Zhang Hongmei. The father and daughter followed behind her, lagging behind.
Anne hugged Carlos's neck and whispered in his ear, "Daddy, I think this lady is better than the previous one, and Mommy should like her."
"Oh? How did you know?"
"Mom's eyes were full of smiles!"
Carlos held his daughter without saying a word, thinking, "Give up."
The dinner went very smoothly. Carlos remained silent, so Zhang Hongmei had to occasionally look after Elizabeth Bassola, otherwise it would have been too awkward.
Seeing that her granddaughter didn't show any impatience, Huang Meihua felt somewhat relieved. She was even more enthusiastic towards Elizabeth Bassola.
After dinner, everyone sat in the living room chatting. Zhang Hongmei had a pretty good impression of Elizabeth Bassola.
A person's eyes don't lie. And she didn't show excessive flattery towards Anne, but she was still quite enthusiastic.
Of the six, only Carlos was offline, but someone always stepped in to save the day, so the atmosphere was still quite harmonious.
Elizabeth Bassola was quite fond of Carlos, a successful and handsome man.
Although I have children, I would never have had the chance to have one if it weren't for this.
She chuckled inwardly, a self-deprecating smile playing on her lips. Only if it worked out would she truly leave that oppressive home and be happy. Although Carlos seemed reluctant, judging from his family's attitude, it should be possible. God help her, she hoped she could successfully marry Carlos.
Huang Meihua glanced at Zhang Hongmei, who immediately understood. "Miss Bassola, I'll take you to see the greenhouse. Annie, would you like to come?"
Elizabeth Bassola stood up with a smile. "Of course! I love flowers the most."
Annie stood up and took Zhang Hongmei's hand. "Mom, I want to go too. I want to introduce our family's flowers to Aunt Bassola."
“Okay, godfather and godmother, let’s go play in the greenhouse for a while.”
Anne walked ahead, showing no sign of rejection towards Elizabeth Bassola. Zhang Hongmei felt somewhat relieved; she was determined to find her a mother, and hoped the two could get along peacefully.
“Miss Basora, look at the greenhouse that your foster mother takes care of herself.”
"Yes, it's very beautiful. Auntie is a very patient person."
The three of them were looking at the flowers in the greenhouse, while the family of three in the living room remained silent.
Huang Meihua couldn't stand the dullness any longer. "Carlos, what do you mean? Anne doesn't seem to dislike Elizabeth."
Carlos looked up. "Yes. Annie told me when I came in that she doesn't dislike Miss Bassola."
"So what do you mean?"
"Okay, let's go with her, as long as she's good to Annie."
Beth suddenly stood up.
