Chapter 796 Agree

“Carlos, I don’t care what your thoughts are, but remember this: since you’ve married her, treat her sincerely.”

“I will. She is the mistress of the McCann family, and I will absolutely uphold her respect.”

Huang Meihua felt a pang of sadness. She had been loved and pampered by men her whole life, so why was her son's love life so bumpy?

But we've already come this far, so we have to keep going.

"Alright, I'll go talk to Mrs. Basora tomorrow to finalize things. Your wedding date is set for April."

Carlos nodded. Anytime was fine. It didn't matter since he wasn't marrying the woman he expected.

"Mom, you've gone through so much trouble."

Huang Meihua's tears streamed down her face.

"Mom, don't be sad. Just wait to hold your grandson!" Carlos forced a smile as he comforted his mother.

"Alright, now that you've made up your mind, do it properly. Don't let the girl realize that you, as her mother, don't like it!"

Huang Meihua wiped away her tears, felt something was wrong, and went inside to tidy up.

The three people in the greenhouse got along quite well. Zhang Hongmei was quite satisfied with Elizabeth Bassola, feeling that she wouldn't treat Anne like Wang Xinyi treated Zhao Haozheng, but she certainly wouldn't be Snow White's stepmother either.

That's enough. If it's too good, people won't feel comfortable with it.

"Mom, Aunt Bassola, come and look! This is Grandma's favorite flower. Isn't it beautiful?"

“Yes, these flowers are blooming beautifully. Anne, do you have a good impression of your aunt? Can I be your mother?” Elizabeth Bassola decided it was best to ask.

“I know you are still young, but your godmother, the eldest daughter of the McCann family, is here. I have something to say to you directly.”

"Let's go sit there and chat for a while!"

“Miss Bassola, I really like your honesty.”

"Anne, come here!"

"Mother!"

“Anne, my darling, Mom knows you are a very bright child. What do you think of Miss Bassola? Do you have a good impression of her?”

“Mom, I don’t dislike Miss Bassola. She can be my mom, as long as my dad agrees.”

After listening to their conversation, Elizabeth Bassola's eyes reddened. She finally had a way to escape from there, and she had to get Carlos's consent no matter what.

“Miss Anne, I can’t guarantee that I will treat Anne better than my own children in the future, but I can do the same for her!”

"Very well. I believe you, Miss Bassola. You are a smart woman. You should know that if you treat Anne well, you will receive the same treatment in return."

Elizabeth Bassola nodded. "I know, I understand. I live under my stepmother's control, and I would never treat Anne badly!"

With just one sentence from her, Zhang Hongmei understood everything.

"Okay, I trust you, and I will also keep an eye on you."

"Thank you, Miss."

Zhang Hongmei simply smiled. A weight had been lifted from her heart; at least this person was sensible.

Zhang Hongmei declined Carlos's offer to drive her here, saying, "I drove here myself. Annie can stay here; I can manage on my own."

Carlos saw Elizabeth Bassola off first, and the car was unusually quiet.

“Mr. McKen, I hope you will marry me. I will definitely be a good wife. I have already told Miss and Anne. I can’t say that I will treat Anne better than my own children, but I will definitely treat them equally.” After Elizabeth Bassola finished speaking, she clenched her hands nervously, like a prisoner waiting for a verdict, uneasy, nervous, and expectant.

"Alright. I'll marry you, but you must remember what you said. Also, from now on, the young lady's power will be above yours."

“I agree to anything, as long as I can leave that home.”

"My mother will go to your house tomorrow to talk to your mother about the marriage."

“Mr. McCann, could you speak directly with my father? I am the stepmother, and I don’t want any trouble to arise in the marriage.”

“Okay, then my father will talk to your father.”

"Thank you, Mr. McKen. I will definitely be a good wife in the future. I will be more respectful and filial to my parents, good to Anne, and respectful to Miss."

"Okay, I believe you."

Okay, you're home. It's too late for me to come in and say hello. Explain that.

"Okay, drive carefully." Elizabeth Bassola floated out of the car, but she didn't forget to say hello.

Carlos nodded and drove away. He parked the car in an open area, took out a cigarette, rolled down the window, and ignored the cold wind outside.

There's no going back now, so I'll just have to fulfill my mother's wish. Love will never come again.

I suddenly had a strong urge to drink, but thinking of my parents and daughter at home, I decided not to indulge myself.

He threw away his cigarette butt. He started his car and drove home. Just as he arrived at his doorstep, he ran into Zhang Hongmei, who was trying to come out.

Carlos got out of the car, and Zhang Hongmei rolled down the window. "You're back so soon?"

"Okay, be careful on your way back." Carlos wanted to suggest talking, but the words caught in his throat. What was there to talk about? What should he say? What could he possibly say?

Carlos turned and got into his car, making way for Zhang Hongmei. He watched her drive away without going inside. He just sat in the car, staring blankly in the direction she left, not thinking about anything.

The gatekeeper had no idea why the master of the house wasn't coming in, but he didn't dare to ask. Anyway, he wouldn't get cold in the car; he could come in whenever the master wanted!

About half an hour later, Carlos started the car again and drove straight to the door. Seeing his daughter waiting for him there, he quickly got out of the car.

"Annie, don't wait for me outside anymore, it's too cold."

"Okay!" The father and son walked into the living room hand in hand.

“Anne, do you agree to Elizabeth Bassola being my wife?” Carlos asked very seriously.

“Dad, I have no objection. Mom told me before she left that Miss Bassola is quite nice and she won’t let me suffer.”

"Is this what your mother told you?"

"Yes, Miss Bassola told us in the flower room that she would be good to me from now on, and Mom said she would keep an eye on her from now on."

"Annie, these are just what other people are saying. What's your opinion?"

“I don’t dislike Miss Bassola. But I can’t call her Mom.”

"Okay. You can call her Mother from now on."

"Dad, you should go and rest. You smell like smoke. I'm going to take a shower and go to bed too."

Carlos escorted his daughter upstairs to the maid before returning to his own room. After taking a bath, he went downstairs to his parents' room. He needed to tell them about his promise to Elizabeth Bassola.
