It's already three o'clock, and they should all be back soon. Zhang Hongmei went back to her study and brought the organized games and scripts to the front. She prepared two jars of sauce separately for Wyatt, and the rest were for Huang Meihua and Wang Xinyi.
Zhang Hongmei slapped her forehead. "Lu Jing, do you know anything about baijiu?"
"I know." Lu Jing was still puzzled; why was he asking about alcohol?
"Go check where Grandpa and Dad keep their wine stash and find at least two of the best bottles. Pack them into this bag without the herbs. If you have four bottles of good wine, that would be even better."
Lu Jing nodded and went to find the baijiu (Chinese liquor). Thinking about it, she realized there wasn't enough ginseng, so she went to the storeroom and looked around. Su Chen helped her check, and indeed, there really wasn't much ginseng left. "Oh well, that's all."
Back in the bedroom, I searched through my storage space and found a voice recorder. I gave one to Annie and one to Daniel, and they kept rambling on and on about what had happened since I got home, and how much they missed them.
The message to Wang Zining was to comfort him, saying that things would be better when Daniel grew up, and that he had already criticized Daniel and Annie.
He had already written the letter to the adults, and with the textile factory's accounts in hand, he hurriedly went to the front and handed it to Lu Jing, asking her to separate it and put it in her bag.
Packed it up and labeled it.
But they still didn't come back. It wasn't until evening that Liu Jingze drove them back.
Dinner was dumplings: pork and sauerkraut, pork and scallion, and three kinds of seafood filling.
"Carlos, are you setting off again tomorrow?"
"Manager Liu said we'll set off at dawn and arrive in L City during the day."
“Yes, Hongmei, we’ll leave at three o’clock and arrive in L City by seven-thirty. By then everyone will be at work, and we can sign the land agreement immediately.”
"Okay, you guys go and rest after you finish eating. Don't work, or you won't have any energy."
All four nodded in agreement. After dinner, they stayed for a short while, and Zhang Hongmei gave them some instructions about the things she had given them before they went back to their rooms to rest.
Zhang Hongmei sat in the study in a daze, having received no news from the three of them all day.
Upon hearing the knock on the door, it turned out that Zhang Xingguo and Gu Chuanming had returned.
Both of them seemed a bit listless. Zhang Hongmei immediately offered them water, and they each had a cup.
"Grandpa, I'll go with you to the dining room to wait. We can talk while we eat."
"Okay, we feel better now, don't worry, it's just that we feel mentally exhausted."
Aunt Li also gave Zhang Hongmei a bowl and chopsticks, and the three of them ate and talked.
“Hongmei, don’t worry, everything is really alright. There’s no funeral, but Zhou Shixiong wants to bury Zhou Yuanqing in the cemetery, next to his grave.”
"I've already consulted a feng shui master, so don't worry, Shouyi knows what he's doing. He should be back in about two or three hours." Zhang Xingguo told Zhang Hongmei immediately, afraid she would worry.
"Aunt Li, are there any more dumplings? If not, hurry up and make some."
"Dad, I'm relieved. Grandpa, you two should go and rest after you finish eating, especially Grandpa, don't go out for the next couple of days."
Gu Chuanming nodded in understanding, deciding to stay home for a few days. Even though he felt sorry for Zhou Shixiong, he wouldn't risk his health.
"Zhou Yuanqing is dead, why should Brother Zhang go and help him?"
“Zhou Shixiong has lost his ability to act now and relies on Shouyi for everything.”
"I'm not going tomorrow. If he's dead, he's dead. We've done our part for them in these two days and nights."
“Yes, that’s what your brother Zhang said too. He’ll be back tonight, and he has too much work backlog. What can Zhou Shixiong do even if he’s not satisfied?” Zhang Xingguo quickly chimed in, afraid that the girl would get angry.
"Heh, evil deeds will be punished; Heaven still has eyes."
"Alright, stop thinking about these unhappy things. He's dead, so be it. Your body can't take anger out on you right now."
"Grandpa, I know, am I really that kind of person who can't tell what's important?"
After the two elderly people finished eating, they didn't drink tea. Instead, each of them had a bowl of dumpling soup to help them digest their food.
I took them to rest and then went back to my bedroom. I fell asleep without realizing it.
When Zhang Shouyi returned home, he saw his wife sleeping soundly. He quietly went out to eat in the front, came back to take a bath, and then went to bed to hold her.
Zhang Hongmei was startled awake and opened her eyes to see Zhang Shouyi.
"Honey, I scared you!"
"Hmm, my heart is racing right now. Let me catch my breath."
After calming down for a while, Zhang Hongmei quickly poured a glass of water for her.
"Drink it quickly, don't say anything, drink it and go to sleep."
Zhang Shouyi obediently listened. After drinking the water, he lay down, hugged Zhang Hongmei, and fell asleep in less than a minute.
Lying in the warm, familiar embrace, Zhang Hongmei also felt sleepy.
Lu Jing stood outside the door, feeling extremely awkward. But the lady had instructed her to wake the foreigner when he left.
Zhang Hongmei had something on her mind. She opened her eyes and checked the time by the moonlight. It was already 2:30.
She quietly slipped out of Zhang Shouyi's embrace, got dressed, and got out of bed.
Lu Jing breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing the noise inside; she truly didn't have the courage to knock. It was best if the lady got up herself.
Zhang Hongmei came out quietly, nodded when she saw Lu Jing outside the door, and Lu Jing walked beside Zhang Hongmei, helping her to see the way.
Upon entering the living room, Liu Jingze and Song Zigan were already up, looking energetic.
“Brother Jingze, I originally wanted Han Mei to help you, but now that Song Zigan is here, it'll be just the two of you working hard.”
"Yes, don't worry. I'm familiar with Haishi."
Carlos and Wyatt also arrived, and both seemed to be in good spirits.
"You two take care of yourselves. From now on, you should leave these things to your assistant."
"Yes, from now on I'll come here as a guest."
"Sure, you're welcome anytime. If you need anything, you'll have to write."
Carlos and Wyatt both knew that Zhang Hongmei disliked physical contact, so they simply nodded.
He watched the car leave the yard before turning back to his room.
"Wife, have they left?"
"Okay, I'm leaving. Did I wake you up?"
"Yeah, it's okay. Come on up, it's cold down here."
Zhang Hongmei snuggled into Zhang Shouyi's arms and wrapped her arms around his waist.
"Brother Zhang, go to sleep. You'll have a lot to do tomorrow."
"Yes, don't worry, I know what I'm doing."
The next day, Zhang Hongmei got up at seven o'clock. She had already made up her mind that she could no longer stay in bed. She would practice Tai Chi every morning. Since becoming pregnant, she had become much lazier.
After sweating a little, I felt refreshed and immediately went inside.
After everything was tidied up, they went to the dining room.
Er Ya bought books for San Ya and Shi Tou, and they have to study every morning before they can go out to play in the afternoon.
Both of them now had a goal, so they didn't resist. They obediently followed instructions.
Before they knew it, it was the 20th of the twelfth lunar month. Zhang Shouyi was getting busier and busier, but no matter how late it was, he would always come back. He was afraid that Zhang Hongmei would worry.
"Second Sister, take the two of them to the building. Wang Ying doesn't have time right now, and Lu Jing and the others aren't very familiar with the capital, but let Han Mei come along."
