Zhang Xingguo absolutely obeyed his son. He immediately stood up.
Zhang Xingguo came over and said, "Sir, Hongmei is the only child at home. She's timid and Shouyi can't be separated from her, so I'll go back first and come back tomorrow morning."
"Go ahead. Tell her not to worry."
Chengzi drove him home.
Gu Chuanming sat next to Zhou Shixiong, listening to his rambling.
"I don't even have any grandchildren anymore. Don't you think we've committed too many killings?"
Gu Chuanming didn't answer, knowing he didn't need anyone to answer his questions.
"I'm getting old, and now I'm the one who has to bury my child."
Old Gu, you said I'd never knock over a jar even after I die. How could my life be such a failure?
"Alright, now that it's happened, what's the point of you doing this?"
Don't take offense at what I'm saying; Yuan Qing is spoiled rotten by you.
"Old Gu, I regret it so much now. If I had disciplined him when he made mistakes since he was a child, things might not be like this now."
"What's the point of saying all this? Hurry up and go back to your room, lie down on the bed, I'll stay with you."
The next day, Zhang Hongmei woke up at seven o'clock and immediately poured a glass of water for her. She felt better after drinking it.
Hearing the noise inside, Su Chen knocked and came in.
"Zhang Hongmei, Chief Zhang returned last night."
"Okay, I understand. Let's go see him."
Zhang Xingguo also got up and started practicing Tai Chi in the courtyard. He immediately stopped when he saw Zhang Hongmei approaching.
“Hongmei, don’t worry, your Brother Zhang is fine. He secretly told me that he didn’t make the call so as not to upset Zhou Shixiong.”
"Yes, I'm relieved. Where's Grandpa?"
"Old Gu will stay and keep Zhou Shixiong company. You stay home today; I'll have to go over there later."
"Okay, should I go take a look?"
"No need, you can't hide your pregnancy anyway. I'll just say you're not feeling well."
Shouyi is worried about you. So you absolutely cannot go out; there are nearly twenty bodyguards at home.
You don't need to be so careful. Just do what you need to do. I'm relieved to have Er Ya with you."
"I know, Dad. Be careful."
After seeing Zhang Xingguo off, Zhang Hongmei felt utterly empty and helpless. She stood in the courtyard practicing Tai Chi.
I stopped practicing Tai Chi after getting pregnant. Today I felt particularly clumsy, but I still persevered. Suddenly, I found myself in a much better mood.
I must continue practicing Tai Chi from now on. Suddenly, I felt the baby in my belly move.
Zhang Hongmei was a little surprised. Was the baby moving too early? She tried to feel for it carefully, but there was no movement at all. Maybe it was just her imagination.
At breakfast, Zhang Hongmei apologized to Carlos and Wyatt, "I'm so sorry, Grandpa and Dad both had to go out today. They specifically told me not to go out, so I had to ask Sister Erya to treat you to lunch today."
Both of them heard the commotion ahead, but since they were guests at someone else's house, they felt embarrassed to know too much.
“It’s alright, we won’t go today. We’ll have a meeting to discuss it and ask Manager Liu if we can head to Haishi now. It’s very close to the port, isn’t it? After we’ve done our inspection there, we’ll head straight back to China. I’ll come see you again next time I have the chance.” Carlos didn’t want to put her in a difficult position or cause her any trouble.
"Okay, I'm very sorry!"
“Zhang Hongmei, do we need to be so polite?” Wyatt rolled his eyes at Zhang Hongmei.
Liu Jingze and Song Zigan also came. They hadn't even slept for two hours; they had been chasing after higher-ups for signatures yesterday. They also met with the person in charge in L City. Last night, they discussed the contract with Carlos and the others for several hours until they signed it.
Afterwards, the two went back to look at the maps and began to discuss where to build the factory in Haishi and where to build the one in L City.
Fortunately, Liu Jingze was quite familiar with Haishi, otherwise the two of them would have been completely lost.
"Manager Liu, when can we set off for Hai City?" Wyatt asked first.
"Any time is fine, but I suggest we take the train. Although it's not as fast as a car, it's safer, and it will give you time to further refine the plan."
Carlos put down his chopsticks. "Alright, Mr. Liu, could you please go buy the tickets first? We can set off today. It's just a matter of funds. We each brought one million. I wonder how much we should bring?"
“Carlos, I think we should determine the factory location in L City first, and then go to Hai City.”
"That's fine, then we'll follow Mr. Liu's arrangements."
“Okay, let’s head to L City right away. As for the funds, I think you should take half of them with you.”
"Since you're building factories in both locations simultaneously, as long as your accounts are clear, it's much safer that way."
"That's all we can do."
After the four of them finished their meal, they left, and Liu Jingze drove Zhang Hongmei's car away.
Only Er Ya and her two younger siblings were left at home, and Zhang Hongmei had the two younger ones learn computers.
The three of them certainly wouldn't miss this rare opportunity. They were all reasonable people and absolutely understood Zhang Hongmei's protective intentions.
Now it was finally quiet. After Jinsong arrived and learned where the three had gone, he also went to the study.
Zhang Hongmei lay in bed, tossing and turning, her mind preoccupied with the three of them.
But I couldn't resist the sleepiness. I fell asleep in no time.
The four people next door quieted down, afraid of disturbing Zhang Hongmei.
They didn't call her for lunch, but Aunt Yang and the others prepared it early, afraid she would be hungry when she woke up.
In Zhang Hongmei's dream, she was surrounded by lots of delicious food, making her mouth water. But whenever she reached out, the food would automatically dodge away.
Zhang Hongmei screamed in anger, but she couldn't touch them. It seemed like they were doing it on purpose; as soon as Zhang Hongmei didn't reach out, they all surrounded her.
But she really wanted to eat it, Zhang Hongmei kept muttering the names of the dishes she wanted to eat.
Zhang Hongmei woke up. Luckily, no one was around, or it would have been too embarrassing. She felt really hungry, so she got up, put on her clothes, and went to the dining room.
Aunt Yang immediately brought out a bowl of bird's nest soup. Zhang Hongmei, no longer caring about being picky, drank it all in a few gulps. Aunt Chen then brought over a steamer of red bean buns.
"I want something savory, not sweet."
"But making it fresh takes time. What are you having for lunch?"
"Rice, stir-fried vegetables."
"Give me fried rice with eggs, quick."
Five minutes later, a large bowl of fried rice with egg was served. Zhang Hongmei took the spoon and hurriedly put it in her mouth.
Aunt Yang and Aunt Chen, who were standing nearby, watched with smiles, but Er Ya and San Ya were stunned.
"Lu Jing, go and prepare all the sauces and other things for Carlos and the others, plus two portions of twenty bird's nests, two ginseng roots, and the medicinal herbs I asked you to prepare separately. Pack them all separately."
