The next day, Han Junche got up and went to work feeling refreshed. Not long after arriving at the office, he received a call from Qin Zhao.
On the other end of the phone, Qin Zhao's voice was somewhat low. He asked Han Junche to meet him at Xizi Hutong around noon.
Han Junche glanced at the mountain of work piled up at his feet and frowned, saying, "Can't we talk about it over the phone?"
Qin Zhao's answer was firm: "There are some things I must tell you in person."
Judging from Qin Zhao's tone, Han Junche knew that what he was about to say must be quite serious, so he nodded and said, "Okay, let's meet at Xizi Hutong at 12:30 noon. Remember to prepare some good food."
Qin Zhao snorted lightly: "Don't worry, you won't go hungry."
After hanging up the phone, Han Junche arrived at Xizi Hutong at 12:30 sharp after a busy morning. It was still a teahouse, just like when he met Chi Xia before. Today, a sumptuous meal was laid out in the private room.
Qin Zhao didn't wait for Han Junche and was eating slowly on his own.
As soon as Han Junche entered, seeing his gloomy face, he lowered his eyes slightly before speaking, "What, are you so hungry that you can't even wait for me for a little while?"
Qin Zhao looked up at him, then pointed to the person opposite him: "Sit."
Han Junche sat down opposite him, picked up his chopsticks, and asked while eating, "What do you want to see me about? Do you have to say it to my face?"
Qin Zhao did not answer, but said, "Eat first, or I'm afraid you won't be in the mood to eat later."
Hearing this, Han Junche raised an eyebrow: "After you said that, I feel like I've lost my appetite too."
"It's better than not eating at all." Qin Zhao ignored him: "I made your favorite Mu Shu Pork, eat up."
Upon hearing this, Han Junche remained silent, and the two ate their meal in peace.
Qin Zhao put down his chopsticks and looked at Han Junche, asking, "Finished eating?"
Han Junche hummed in agreement: "Speak, what is it?"
Qin Zhao cut to the chase and asked, "I called you here today to ask you again in person, is it absolutely necessary for you to go?"
Han Junche frowned: "Don't you already know my decision? Why ask again?"
"So, for the sake of the so-called masses, you're prepared to sacrifice yourself, abandon Chi Xia, and abandon us brothers, is that it?"
Qin Zhao's eyes turned cold as she looked at him: "Do you really have to be this savior?"
"I have no intention of becoming a so-called savior."
Han Junche said bluntly, "I just want to protect the people I care about. Among them are you, Chi Xia, Lin Yi, Wang Dalong, and others. Moreover, my mother is among those hostages. If you were in my shoes, could you stand idly by?"
"No." Qin Zhao answered readily, but that didn't mean he would agree with Han Junche's approach.
He looked at Han Junche and said, "But have you ever thought that when you sacrifice yourself to save people, those who have nothing to do with you might be grateful to you, but will those who are related to you be grateful to you?"
"Won't."
Before Han Junche could answer, Qin Zhao gave him the answer: "Would your mother be happy to risk your life to save her? I'm afraid that even if she is rescued, she will not be happy. Instead, she will feel that she has dragged you down and that she will only live in pain in the future. She would rather die than let you save her in this way."
"Will Chi Xia be grateful to you? No! Will Lin Yi, Wang Dalong, or even Ran Zhu be grateful to you? No! We'll only feel useless, and we'll only feel like we've dragged you down!"
"You were taken away by the Rockies, and we can only spend our entire lives trying to find you. We have no way to live our own lives. Have you thought about that?"
