"Old Chen, why did you let Jiang Yang stay here?" Jiang's father asked Chen Kang anxiously.
“Your son, Jiang Yang, was arrested through normal procedures.”
"No... Old Chen, you know Jiang Yang is just a bit naughty, how could he break the law?"
Before Chen Kang could finish speaking, Jiang's father interrupted anxiously, which made Chen Kang's subordinates very uncomfortable. Chen Kang didn't say anything and asked his subordinates to take them aside to find out what was going on. When Jiang's mother saw that Chen Kang was about to leave, she was extremely anxious and grabbed Chen Kang's sleeve, saying, "Old Chen, we've been friends for so long, you can't just abandon Yang'er like this."
"Go and find out what's going on before you come back to me."
Chen Kang shook off Jiang's mother's hand, returned to his office, and angrily slammed his water glass on the table.
"Director Chen, these kids are only telling us now, and two of their friends have run away..."
"What?"
Upon hearing this, Chen Kang immediately sensed something was wrong. "Go find them quickly."
"Yes, Director Chen."
The situation became serious again. Chen Kang took out the video and counted the people, only to find that there were a total of 7 people, but they had only captured 5.
Chen Yu took a taxi back to her apartment building. The streetlights in the neighborhood were off, so she walked halfway in the dark before turning on her flashlight. She was stopped by two boys just before she reached the entrance. Chen Yu quickly recognized them as Jiang Yang's friends; they were also in the video.
"Is there...something wrong?"
"It was your dad who arrested our friends, wasn't it? You and Jiang Yang are good friends, why didn't you rescue them!"
One of the boys was very agitated, and he spat all over Chen Yu's face. She wiped her face clean with some disgust. She couldn't go against these people now. She glanced around out of the corner of her eye. It was probably late. There wasn't a single resident in the community, not even a food delivery person.
Chen Yu is now facing two boys alone.
"There's nothing I can do about it; it's not something I can just decide."
"Why can't you! They all say your dad spoils you, and it's because of you that Jiang Yang made us do this!"
"Jun, don't get so agitated. Didn't we agree to come and talk to her properly?"
Chen Yu looked at the boy on the other side. He was more composed. The boy named A-Jun had a fierce expression. His hands were clenched into fists, and he looked very angry. Chen Yu thought for a while and decided to start with the one who was more composed.
"Dude, I really have no choice. This is my brother who got beaten up. My dad won't just ignore it, right?"
"Don't you hate him? Jiang Yang said it was because of you that he hit him."
"Yes, I will find a way to save Jiang Yang. You guys go back first. My dad will be back soon, and he'll arrest you if he sees you."
After thinking about it for a moment, the two felt that what Chen Yu said made a lot of sense. They glanced at Chen Yu and were about to leave when Chen Yu breathed a sigh of relief. She watched the two of them leave and turned to go upstairs. Halfway up, her shoulder was grabbed.
"You bitch, you dared to lie to us!"
Chen Yu was stunned for a moment. She looked at the chat history in Ah Jun's hand, which was between her and Wang Yue.
"Ah Jie, I told you you couldn't trust her!"
Ah Jun took out a rope and tied Chen Yu's hands together. Chen Yu struggled and tried to scream, but a piece of cloth was stuffed into her mouth. The two dragged Chen Yu forward, and the security room door was just ahead.
"Jun, we can't go through the front door."
"Go to the one in the back, I know where it is."
Chen Yu tried to make noise, making whimpering sounds, but the old man in the security room didn't hear her at all, he was just watching the video on his phone. Ah Jun easily made his way to the back door.
"I'll go check. Ah Jie, you hold her here and wait."
"OK."
Ah Jun let go of Chen Yu's hand, and Chen Yu's mind started racing. Now that there was one less person holding her, this was a good opportunity for her to escape. Taking advantage of Ah Jie's inattention, Chen Yu forcefully shook off his hand, turned around, and started to run away.
A-Jie stared blankly at Chen Yu's back for a while before he reacted. "Hey! Don't run away!" His shout startled A-Jun, and the security guard in the room was awakened from his nap. He happened to see A-Jun sneaking over.
"Who are you? What are you doing sneaking around like this?"
Ah Jun turned around and grabbed Ah Jie as they ran away. The two ran very fast. The security guard reported the incident on his walkie-talkie and began a large-scale search for the two.
Chen Yu ran all the way to her doorstep. She hid in the stairwell, trembling, and waited for a long time before daring to peek out. These two people probably didn't know which floor she lived on, but she was afraid that Wang Yue had told them. She heard the elevator doors open outside, followed by the voice of the aunt next door. Chen Yu immediately ran out of the stairwell and started whimpering at the aunt.
"Holy crap, what is this?!"
The neighbor's family was startled by Chen Yu, and it took them a while to realize it was her. "Oh my, isn't this the little girl from next door?"
"Waaah!" Chen Yu cried out even louder. The aunt's son stepped forward, untied the ropes from Chen Yu, and removed the cloth from her mouth. The whole family knew that Chen Yu's father was a policeman, so they usually visited each other frequently.
"Little girl, what's wrong with you?"
"Well, it's a long story."
Chen Yu patted his back pocket and realized his phone was gone too. "Uncle, could I borrow your phone to call my dad?"
"Sure, take it."
Chen Yu thanked him and then took his phone to call Chen Kang. He briefly recounted what had happened to him. Chen Kang became anxious upon hearing this and asked Chen Yu several times if she was alright. Chen Yu kept saying that she was fine, but she didn't know where the two children had gone.
