Chapter 60 I'll beat you to death

The person was laughing, but it also sounded like a command.

"good."

Xu Yiran had no objection; in a way, he even respected that person.

Do we still need a mirror?

After a short while, Xu Yiran asked.

The man paused, as if someone had suddenly stepped on his sore spot. His aura instantly turned gloomy, but only for a moment before returning to normal. He nodded and said in an extremely cold tone, "Of course."

...

A day later, a lone rider sped along a quiet mountain path.

The mountain road was bumpy, but the man and the horse moved as if on flat ground, as if they had disappeared from sight in the blink of an eye.

Then, an hour later, the man abandoned his horse, leaped into the city, changed his clothes, and headed straight for a large mansion.

The mansion looked old and grand, but because it hadn't been renovated, it seemed to have a certain dilapidated feel to it.

This is Yunzhou City, 500 miles from the capital, and this person is Princess Qing. Dressed in a neat black outfit, she entered the old house quietly.

The house was desolate and felt utterly desolate.

However, an old and frail figure was already standing behind Princess Qing.

"You are...Miss."

When the man saw Princess Qing turn around, his expression changed drastically. His guarded demeanor vanished, replaced by intense excitement, his eyes gleaming with excitement.

"Uncle Zhou."

Under the moonlight, Princess Qing looked at the old man, a gentle smile appearing at the corners of her slightly wrinkled eyes, "After so many years, I may have to trouble you again."

"No trouble at all, no trouble at all. I've heard about it, I've heard about what happened in the capital. Miss, what do you want to know? I'll do anything you need me to do."

"Take me to see Master Xu."

Princess Qing said.

Upon hearing this, the old man's expression changed slightly. "But this... Miss, Master Xu was unaware of this. He never expected things to turn out this way. Since the incident in the capital, he hasn't slept a full night."

"That's why I'm even more determined to see him."

Princess Qing appears gentle and kind, but in reality, she is an extremely resolute and ruthless person.

Uncle Zhou knew that Princess Qing was determined to see Master Xu. He sighed, then turned around and gestured forward, "Miss, please come with me."

"Uncle Zhou."

Princess Qing called out to him, "Even after all these years, I still remember the kindness you showed me back then."

These words made Uncle Zhou respond more readily, "Miss, don't worry, Uncle Zhou... is loyal to you."

Princess Qing nodded, said nothing more, and followed Uncle Zhou's steps.

In the chill of the winter night, the light from the extinguished lantern in Uncle Zhou's hand flickered, just like the night and the moon, tangled and unresolved.

Uncle Zhou led the way until they reached the outside of a house where lights were still on, before stopping.

The door opened, and inside, a man in his fifties but looking like he was in his sixties or seventies was sitting there reading a book. He was startled when he saw Princess Qing, then quickly stood up to greet her, "Greetings, Princess Qing."

“Master Xu, there’s no need for these formalities. If I hadn’t been lucky enough to survive, I probably wouldn’t have had the chance to receive your courtesy.”

Princess Qing appeared to be smiling as she spoke, but the anger in her words was not hard to discern.

Upon hearing this, Master Xu bowed even lower. "Princess Qing, please forgive me. I... I really didn't know. I really didn't know."

"Xu Yiran rebelled and took control of the entire palace and the capital. If she didn't trust me so much, would she have sent someone to send your entire Xu family away?"

Princess Qing’s tone was slightly cold, but her presence was imposing. “Xu Jincai, I knew you were a good person back then, and since Uncle Zhou’s family was here, I didn’t want him to have to travel around in his old age. Besides, you and I got along very well, so I let him stay in your family. You can see how much trust I had in your Xu family back then.”

Every word was gentle, yet every word sent chills down one's spine, as if one were being crushed by a boulder.

Master Xu's face turned pale.

"However, I never expected that when I said I would help your Xu family rise from the ashes, you were unwilling, but now you want to turn the world upside down?"

"Thump—"

Princess Qing spoke sternly, and Master Xu immediately knelt down, his face filled with fear. "Your Highness, I truly knew nothing about this. Yi Ran... Yi Ran has always been fine. I never imagined he would do this... Could it be that he has something going on with Princess Ling Qin, and that's why..."

"Xu Jincai, do you think I, the princess, am so easily fooled? I know how much you love Xu Yiran, and I know how filial he is to you. So, you're telling me you don't know? Hmm? Or are you saying..."

Princess Qing's bright eyes suddenly flashed with cold light, "Or do you want me to take up my sword again after these years of peaceful life in the palace, and then take your blood?"

Upon hearing this, Master Xu's expression changed, and Uncle Zhou, who was standing next to him, also knelt down. "Miss, please don't be angry. I can vouch for you. Old Master Xu really didn't know. Just before, Xu Yiran wrote back, but two months ago, he stopped replying to Master's letters and stopped caring about anything in the Xu family."

Uncle Zhou spoke hurriedly, and seeing that Princess Qing remained unmoved, he kowtowed again.

He kept hitting the ground with each thud, until Princess Qing finally stopped him.

“Uncle Zhou, this matter is of great importance, concerning the fate of Beirong and the world. Xu Yiran’s actions are not a joke at all. So it’s not that I’m making things difficult for you, but that you are making things difficult for me.”

Uncle Zhou's eyelids twitched, while Princess Qing stepped forward and grabbed Master Xu's hand. "Master Xu, I'm sorry, but I can only trouble you to come to the capital with me. Or..." Princess Qing glanced at the door. "Master Xu, I am not a kind-hearted person. You should know that for the sake of peace in the world, I can certainly kill a few people to clear the way."
