Chapter 39: Hug

Chapter 39 I Want a Hug

In the dim light, a group of half-grown children gathered around Wen Wan to listen to stories.

Wen Wan was lying in a rocking chair, with Chen Zhou peeling peanuts for her on her left and a little Lolita massaging her legs on her right.

The newcomer, Winn, was sitting under a tree root not far away, holding a piece of dogtail grass in his mouth. He seemed to be looking at the moon in the sky, but his ears were secretly perked up.

"The so-called chain of events is a chain of events, one after another. Just like Zhuge Liang's burning of Red Cliff..."

The breeze blows, and the years are quiet and good.

Before the story was finished, several younger children had already fallen asleep in a mess.

"It's almost time to rest. Let's continue tomorrow."

Wen Wan also yawned and waved to Wen En in the distance, "You're the tallest, come over and help."

Winn stood up and walked towards her.

Wen Wan gave the order naturally, "You and Shen Zhou each hold one, and send them back to their room to rest."

Chen Zhou was already quite skilled. He picked up a child and strode into the room.

Winn was stunned for a moment before he bent down and picked up a child. He seemed to have never held a child like this before, and his expression was a little unnatural.

There was still a four-year-old little girl left. Wen Wan rolled up her sleeves and picked up the little girl.

"Little Fatty, you're so heavy."

She complained casually and walked forward with a huff.

Wen En's eyes fixed, he took a step forward, and picked up the little Loli with one hand.

He held a child in each hand, looking very relaxed.

Wen Wan blinked her eyes and praised him generously, "You are so strong, you are really capable!"

When Wen En heard this, the corners of his mouth curled up unconsciously.

After sending the two children back to the house, Wen Wan pointed to the room next door.

"The room that Mute Po has prepared for you has freshly changed quilts and mattresses. As for clothes and other things, you can make do with what you have for now. Mute Po is already making new ones for you. If you have any other needs, don't hesitate to ask us."

Wen Wan introduced them with a smile, and then said, "Everyone living here is an orphan with no relatives or friends. We are all the same, so don't feel burdened."

After hearing this, Winn's eyes flashed with surprise.

He raised his hand and pointed at Wen Wan.

"Are you asking me?" Wen Wan replied casually, "It's the same for me. I'm just an orphan, so it's no big deal. Besides, now that you have my last name, you'll be my biological brother from now on. We're not orphans anymore, right?"

Wen Wan finished speaking, patted his shoulder, and joked: "You must listen to your sister obediently in the future, and your sister will love you."

Winn nodded solemnly, "Yeah."

"Okay, you take a rest, I'll go back." Wen Wan waved her hand and turned around.

Wen En looked up and watched her walk away. His eyes darkened, and after hesitating for a moment, he raised his feet and followed her.

*

Perhaps because she ate too many peanuts and sunflower seeds, Wen Wan felt extremely thirsty in the middle of the night.

She sat up drowsily, ready to drink some water, and when she put her feet under the bed, she suddenly stepped on something soft.

"ah!"

She pulled her legs back in fear, and all she could think of were the ghosts crawling out from under the bed in the horror movies she had seen before.

My scalp tingles just thinking about it.

"I." A hoarse male voice sounded beside the bed, with a hint of grievance and uneasiness in the tone.

Wen Wan was stunned at first, then she looked with wide eyes nervously.

With the moonlight outside the window, she was finally able to make out who this person was.

"Winn! What are you doing sleeping on my footrest? You're scaring me to death!"

Wen Wan stepped over him and lit the candle on the table.

She had intended to scold him severely, but under the candlelight, the boy curled up barefoot beside the bed, his eyes full of fear and grievance, like a poor frightened deer.

With that look on her face, Wen Wan couldn't bring herself to curse him. She would feel guilty if she spoke in a harsh tone.

"Oh. Never mind. I saved him. What else can I do?"

Wen Wan helplessly made a handful of cold tea, drank it in one gulp, and then spoke again.

She sat on the chair and asked, "Tell me, when did you come and why do you want to sleep here?"

Winn stared at her with burning eyes and uttered only one word.

"Afraid."

Wen Wan: "Amazing! I talked for a long time, but you dismissed me with just one word! Will the world be destroyed if you say one more word?"

The boy's eyes darkened and he lowered his head sadly, "I'm scared."

Wen Wan: “…”

OK, I did say one extra word!

She waved her hands weakly, "You are a man, I am a woman, we can't live in the same room, there is a difference between men and women, understand?"

Winn shook his head blankly, without saying a word, and his eyes began to redden.

Wen Wan took a deep breath, "Don't, my little ancestor, I'm not scolding you, it's just... it's not right to do this. Men and women can only live in the same room after they are married."

"Get married." He looked at her with moist eyes.

"What kind of relationship is that? We are siblings, siblings!" Wen Wan held her forehead with her hands, "I can't explain this to you."

When the young man heard this, his clear eyes gradually dimmed and seemed to be lifeless again.

He just curled up like that, seemed to be extremely sad, and kept shrinking into the corner.

"Stop!" Wen Wan patiently asked, "Then tell me, what are you afraid of? It can't be that you're afraid of the dark. Didn't you sleep alone in the roast lamb shop?"

I still sleep in the woodshed.

Winn: "I'm afraid you won't want me."

"You actually said such a long sentence!" Wen Wan's eyes widened in surprise. "It seems that you are not unable to speak, but you just don't want to speak."

Winn pursed his lips and remained silent again.

It was the middle of the night and Wen Wan didn't want to waste time with him, so she explained in a serious tone.

"Everything I said to you was not to coax you. I mean what I said."

"I do plan to move out of the side yard. After all, it's someone else's place. I didn't care about it before, but now I have a new identity. It's not good to live here forever."

"But don't worry, when I move out in the future, I will take you with me. You have my last name, and you are mine, so I won't abandon you."

After she finished speaking, she instinctively raised her hand to touch Winn's head, but he subconsciously dodged.

Wen Wan was startled, and Wen En's eyes flashed, but he forced himself to hold back, and finally let her hand fall on her head.

She rubbed the boy's hair, which felt like petting a cat, and Wenwan felt very satisfied.

"So, can you go back to your room and sleep now?"

Winn hesitated for a moment before nodding.

But he didn't leave in a hurry. Instead, he stood by the bed without moving.

Wen Wan looked at him puzzledly, "What else?"

The young man moved his lips and said, "Sister."

Wen Wan was delighted when she heard it, "Hey, good boy..."

Before she could finish her words, Winn leaned forward and pulled her into his arms.

He said, "Sister, hold me."
