Chapter 64: Is there any way to stop a scumbag boyfriend?
Jiang Meng actually went to find that issue of "Oasis," which, according to the clue he gave her, should be issue 162.
She called Ye Zhaoxu to ask.
While Ye Zhaoxu was rummaging through drawers and cupboards for her at home, he asked Jiang Meng, "What do you want to see? Did a boy write you a love letter?"
Jiang Meng said anxiously, "Yes, yes, Mom is so smart, please find it for me quickly."
Ye Zhaoxu transforms into a cold-blooded teacher: "Which boy is so bad at math, not studying properly, and getting involved in all this lovemaking?"
Jiang Meng's voice was sweet and cheerful: "Guess which one it is?"
"I guess it's the eye on your body."
"That's a lot."
"There aren't many people who would let you bring up the past."
"Oh." Jiang Meng smiled, then whispered to her, "He's been practicing his card game lately, so it's reasonable to suspect that someone is trying to curry favor with you. Remember to raise your standards a bit, don't let him get away with it."
Ye Zhaoxu chuckled: "A silly trick by young lovers."
"You probably don't want your beautiful daughter to be married off so easily, do you?"
"Of course, I still have eighty-one more tribulations waiting for him."
Jiang Meng immediately became anxious again, "No, no! That's too much. He'll be so tired. You can just give him a little."
She said even more softly, "He has already suffered a lot in love."
Ye Zhaoxu sent a message: "Hey, I couldn't find it. There were only three or four books, but I didn't see any love letters."
Jiang Meng was discouraged: "Never mind, I'll ask my classmates."
"If you find it, show it to me too. If it's well-written, I'll consider releasing the level."
"That won't do, this is a secret between the two of us."
"There are eighty-one tribulations that cannot be escaped."
Jiang Meng smiled and said, "Whatever you say!"
Unable to find the magazine, Jiang Meng returned to the hotel over the weekend to wait for Chen Jizhou.
He went on a business trip, for quite a while, ten days to half a month. She nestled comfortably in his usual reading chair. The books on his bookshelf had been changed again, but Jiang Meng wasn't interested. She was reading a romance novel, the one she brought back from Pingjiang, "Seventeen Years Old and Missing".
The hotel window overlooks the sea, and it's snowing again, turning the beach white.
There was a knock at the door, and Jiang Meng turned her chair around to face the door.
Chen Jizhou was dressed all in black, wearing a scarf. Accustomed to the long journey, he wasn't exhausted. He changed his shoes at the door, his hair and soft scarf damp with snow. The man's face was fair, his expression refined, his ears and the tip of his nose slightly red. The outside temperature was almost zero, but his eyes still held warmth; when cold, they appeared sharp, yet regained some of their sensitivity when he looked at her.
Are you cold?
He said, "It's alright, they provide pick-up and drop-off service."
Jiang Meng laughed and said, "The big boss is really impressive."
Chen Jizhou said, "The boss's wife is even more comfortable; she can just arrange flower petals at home."
"Dream on, there aren't even any flower petals today."
Jiang Meng smiled and waved the novel in her hand: "Have you read this book?"
Chen Jizhou glanced at the book in her hand. He had carried it with him for many years and it looked very familiar. He didn't need to look closely. He said indifferently, "I've read it. How could I not read what you gave me?"
He took off his scarf, removed his coat, revealing a black shirt underneath, and straightened his collar. Chen Jizhou then looked closely at her hand and couldn't help but ask curiously, "Where did you find this from?"
Jiang Meng: "My maternal grandfather gave it to me."
Chen Jizhou smiled speechlessly, picked up his clothes and walked inside, lazily tossing his scarf and coat onto the sofa armrest: "Well, Lao Wang, you're just betraying me like this."
"Do you use books as pillows?"
He said casually, "Yeah, I can only fall asleep with your picture stuck to my face."
"..."
Wearing only his coat, Chen Jizhou didn't go into the bedroom. He lay down on the sofa for a moment and then waved.
Jiang Meng pounced on him, laughing, "Stop being so carefree, okay? Have you read the second volume yet?"
Chen Jizhou: "You're not in the second volume, so what's the point of reading it?"
"Then let me tell you the plot."
"Go ahead and talk." Actually, he wasn't very interested, but holding her so gently made everything he said feel wonderful. He could finally rest a bit.
Jiang Meng chatted with him for a while. Chen Jizhou found the plot strange and bizarre. In fact, he had never sorted out the grudges of the previous generation. He only remembered that the female lead's mother was particularly hostile to the male lead and even scolded her daughter harshly, saying, "If you are with him, don't acknowledge me as your mother!"
He was terrified. This mother-in-law was really something. Did she have to go to such lengths to break them up?
Chen Jizhou was lost in thought for a moment while listening, and after Jiang Meng finished speaking, he asked her in a deep voice, "Are you together yet?"
"They're together."
"Breaking through family barriers?"
"right."
Where is her mother?
"They've made up." She clapped her hands in satisfaction, then added, "It's a pity they have to go through countless hardships; it must have been incredibly difficult for the male lead."
Chen Jizhou frowned slightly.
He lay on the sofa and quietly held her for a while. All her fragrance and softness were in his arms. Jiang Meng's cheek was pressed against his shirt collar. He gently glanced down and caught sight of the exposed area. He looked away, brushed her hair aside, and asked seriously, "What kind of girl does your mother like?"
Jiang Meng said, "She still likes teachers. She's always wanted me to find a teacher, a very gentle and honest one. You could consider taking the exam and becoming my colleague. She would definitely like that and would nod without hesitation."
Chen Jizhou wanted to laugh: "Me, a teacher? I'll take three months of winter break, I won't even have enough time to play myself."
"It's over, the education system is completely paralyzed."
He had no room for rebuttal, and chuckled, saying, "I'm best at misleading young people."
Jiang Meng is now very comfortable at home, wearing only a thin nightgown. So when his hand casually grasped hers, he immediately felt his nerve endings tremble. He slightly tightened his index finger and thumb, drawing her consciousness into an involuntary situation. Sensing the subtle changes, Chen Jizhou looked into her eyes and said, "You missed me?"
"Just a little bit," she said vaguely.
"Okay, just a little." His smile was subtle, seemingly indifferent. He buried his cheek in her soft hair and asked softly, "Have you taken a shower?"
"Um."
"Stay with me."
Jiang Meng immediately stood up and rebelliously said, "I'm not someone who's always obedient."
Chen Jizhou didn't allow her to rebel. He scooped her up and carried her towards the bathroom, saying amidst her screams and struggles, "Give up the resistance. You can't beat me."
He remained silent throughout, and whenever Jiang Meng tried to speak, he would kiss her tightly. After a long period of emptiness, she needed something to fill the void to find relief. When he entered her, her wet fingertips gripped his shoulders tightly, like drinking the first sip of ice water on a hot, thirsty day. Multiplying that comfort a hundredfold was the blissful relief she felt.
Long legs wrapped around her. Hot water flowed over her hair, lips, and shoulders, mingling with the dampness, and fell heavily, mingling with the clean water droplets on the ground.
She slumped onto the dry, soft sheets, covering her lips with a pillow to keep quiet. His fingers held her hand tightly. Jiang Meng opened her tired eyes to look at her reflection in the window, but quickly looked away timidly, her gaze fixed on the tattoo on his hand.
There was no room for drought. Like being caught in the savagery of midsummer, the long-calm open land, which had been waiting for nourishment, was suddenly hit by a downpour. The high temperature of the hot summer day made her sweat a little.
As the rain subsided, the depths became spacious again, and people felt much more at ease. Jiang Meng remained lying still, and he took out a tissue to wipe away her sweat.
She was still lying there, and as he pulled his hand away, her empty fingers loosened, then lifted up again, as if trying to grab something. Chen Jizhou immediately grabbed her hand again.
Afraid that she would catch a cold, he covered her with the blanket slightly.
Chen Jizhou calmly lay down and pulled the person into his arms.
Jiang Meng looked at him again and noticed that his hair, which he had just washed, was still a little damp.
She leaned against his warm chest: "You were so fierce just now."
Every spike was powerful, precise, and fast, showing no mercy and even more ferocity than on the court. However, while he was gentle and merciful on the court, never killing her, here Jiang Meng was utterly annihilated.
Chen Jizhou still denied it: "Really?"
She nodded vigorously: "Yeah, you used to listen to me when I told you not to do certain things, but you didn't just now."
Chen Jizhou said casually, "I'll definitely listen to you next time."
Jiang Meng said unhappily, "This kind of hindsight comment sounds like a classic line from a scumbag."
"You know that too." He looked at her, smiled, the fleeting lust in his deep eyes faded, leaving only a smug, mocking expression. "Is there anyone who calls a halt to a scumbag's relationship?"
Chen Jizhou glanced at the time on his phone, then, as if remembering something, suddenly asked her, "Do you still want to get back together with your white moonlight?"
Jiang Meng hadn't fully recovered when she heard a completely unexpected question. She lazily asked, "What white moonlight?"
Chen Jizhou had already placed the phone screen in front of her, his expression agitated: "Explain what this is?"
While he was on his phone on the way home today, he saw that she had posted a new Weibo post. He had almost forgotten about it, but every time he saw her profile picture, he wanted to click on her homepage. Once he entered, he couldn't help but think of his "first love" from back then.
Jiang Meng glanced at it and saw that it was a post she had made several years ago: "Today I ate a very magical fruit called olive. When you bite into it, it's so sour and a little astringent, but the more you taste it, the sweeter it gets, with a long-lasting aftertaste. It's a lot like love, like first love."
Jiang Meng finished reading it in a daze.
He pointed meaningfully at Yan Yuqing's comment: "Missing your white moonlight again?"
Jiang Meng asked, "Can a broken mirror really be mended?"
After Jiang Meng finished reading, Chen Jizhou angrily put his phone aside and looked at her with a "hurry up and confess" expression.
Jiang Meng was still a little confused: "It's been so many years, who is my white moonlight?"
"..."
She thought for a moment, and realized she must be referring to A; who else could it be but him? Jiang Meng couldn't help but laugh at his displeased and surprised expression. She glanced at him and then, somewhat meaningfully, counted on her fingers: "From high school until now, let me count..."
He interrupted, puzzled: "High school? She clearly started dating in college."
"Yes, it's the person I liked in high school."
Chen Jizhou thought about it and became even more annoyed: "That Li something?"
Jiang Meng laughed and said, "What?! When have I ever liked him?"
He was incredulous: "There are other people?"
Jiang Meng tilted her head and laughed, "Mind your own business. I like a lot of people."
Chen Jizhou didn't speak and lay there silently for a while.
Jiang Meng nestled into his arms: "Are you jealous?"
He said calmly, "I'm not jealous. I'm easygoing."
She almost couldn't hold back her laughter, but he glanced at her and she managed to suppress it.
He finally said, "Yes, I admit it."
"It's very upsetting."
"It's really annoying."
"Can you please delete it right now?"
"..."
Jiang Meng has finally caught him red-handed.
It's so satisfying to build your happiness on other people's unhappiness!
She naturally wouldn't let the opportunity to tease him slip by; she was determined to get revenge. With a sly smile, she gently stroked his hair, saying, "It's all in the past now."
After Jiang Meng finished speaking, she quickly wrapped the quilt around herself and lay down on her side with her back to him.
Chen Jizhou paused for a moment, then took out his phone to look at it. Her homepage had been updated with a photo today.
Jiang Meng posted a photo of him cooking for her, which she had taken secretly.
The caption reads: "Charming Xiao Chen's Moments as a Husband."
In the comments section, some people mistook it for a casual home photo of a Korean celebrity: "This is nice, is he an actor?"
Jiang Meng: "He's my husband."
The other person replied, "Married?"
Jiang Meng: Not yet, waiting...
Chen Jizhou is quite easily satisfied.
He spun the phone twice in his palm, and a satisfied smile crept across his face.
Oh well, it's not that bad anymore.
Let her call me "husband" a couple more times later.
