Chapter 104 Emptying

When Nan Yi emptied Madam Liu's storeroom, a commotion broke out in the courtyard, suggesting that Prefect Liu already knew about the theft from the study.

The speed was quite fast. Nan guessed that Prefect Liu must have been worried about the treasures in his study and discovered them when he went back to check.

She smiled smugly, set fire to Madam Liu's storeroom, leaped out of the Liu residence, and joined Zhou Ruxue.

However, she was too proud of herself. No sooner had she left the Liu residence than she heard a whooshing sound behind her, revealing a master.

Nan Yi turned and ran towards the city outskirts. Her opponent was not weak and stayed close behind her for more than ten meters.

She led the man to an open space outside the city and stopped. She couldn't let go of an ancient master; the opportunity was too good to pass up, and she had to meet him.

The man was surprised when she stopped, and glared at her for no apparent reason. He thought to himself that this little thief was not running away, and judging from his posture, he was going to fight him.

In the blink of an eye, Nan Yi noticed that the other person had a knife in their hand. With a flick of his toe, a tree branch fell into his hand.

What good could the people chasing after her from the corrupt official's residence be? They're just lackeys. She couldn't be bothered with the rules of the martial world and went straight for the kill.

Dong Ziming was originally a notorious bandit who had committed all sorts of evil deeds. His joining the Liu family was simply to find himself a safe haven.

During this period, he seduced Madam Liu and colluded with Prefect Liu. Half of the wealthy merchants who left Qi County were intercepted and killed on the way, and most of their money ended up in his pocket.

Madam Zhou also allowed him to defile her.

The murderer who destroyed the Zhou family was right in front of Nan Yi. She was completely unaware of it and only wanted to meet a master from three hundred years ago.

The two fought fiercely, and after several hours, neither could gain the upper hand. Nanli's strength began to wane. She feinted an attack, leaped out of the battle circle, and coldly said, "We'll fight again in a quarter of an hour."

Dong Ziming was also almost at his limit, and Nan Yi's suggestion was exactly what he wanted. They slowly retreated to a tree and rested quietly, neither of them thinking of giving up.

One quarter of an hour, then two quarter of an hour... The two stopped fighting five times in between, starting from midnight last night and continuing until noon the next day.

After they rested, they fought for the sixth time. After more than ten moves, Nan Yi became ruthless and deliberately made an opening. Dong Ziming was delighted and stabbed Nan Yi in the shoulder with his knife.

Nan Yi gritted her teeth and pressed down on the cold knife hilt. She threw away the branch with her right hand, and a short blade slid out of her sleeve and into her palm. She struck with lightning speed.

Dong Ziming released the knife handle in shock, his eyes filled with horror and astonishment. He clutched his neck with one hand and pointed at Nan Yi, who had cheated, with the other. He wanted to question him angrily, but he didn't have the chance; his throat was broken.

Nan Yi sheathed his short blade, kicked the Liu family lackey who was still staring blankly in death, and sat down to rest, feeling weak and unsteady.

She was exhausted after more than ten hours, but she must mention that she also made great progress.

She initially intended to leave, but after a moment's thought, she squatted down beside the man's body, reached out and pressed on his chest. The unusual sensation in her fingers told her that there was something on the man's body.

She tore open the man's shirt, and a stack of silver notes fell out, along with a jade pendant.

Nan Yi grinned. Robbery is definitely the fastest way to make money in history. No wonder there were so many bandits and mountain kings in ancient times.

She put away the silver notes, and as for the jade pendant, Nan Yi raised her hand and tossed it into the woods.

It was unclear whether Zhou Ruxue had escaped or not. She hadn't arrived as promised, and the girl must be frantic with worry. Nan Yi was concerned for her and decided to go into the woods to check if the horse was still there.

The fighting took place some distance from where she tethered her horse.

Half an hour later, she thought, the horse was gone. Nan Yi walked around in place and spotted a strip of cloth under the roots of a big tree.

Nan glanced at it and breathed a sigh of relief. It was good that they had left. As for Luoyang, she didn't plan to go there.

She held evidence of Liu Zhizhou's embezzlement and bribery, including two ledgers. The number of people implicated was too large, and the amount involved was too much. Most officials probably wouldn't dare to take on this case.

According to her, the best way is to send the account books to Old Master Kang or Fourth Master Kang. These two powerful figures own the whole world and there is no corrupt official they cannot deal with.

Now that she has fled, neither of these two men is a suitable candidate.

Sigh, thinking about it carefully, she was a runaway imperial concubine, already in dire straits. The matter of the accounts was like a hot potato. If she managed it, she risked exposing herself; if she didn't, she would feel uneasy.

Having promised Zhou Ruxue that she would avenge the Zhou family, she had to do it.

Nan Yi bought horses, bypassed Qi County, and headed in another direction.

While he was taking a short rest in his study at the summer palace, Yinzhen was suddenly jolted awake from his dream, his face covered in sweat.

His wide-open dark eyes held a mixture of surprise and disbelief.

I dreamt of Tong Shi again, but this dream was different from the previous ones, with an ominous feeling. In the dream, Tong Shi was stabbed several times and her body was covered in bloody holes. She was lying on the ground, desperately begging him for help.

He reached out to her, tearing his throat out, but he couldn't reach her no matter what he did, and then he was startled awake.

Is something wrong with Yi'er?

"Master, it's too hot. I'll put some more ice in for you." Su Peisheng stepped forward and wiped the sweat from his master's forehead.

"No need." Yinzhen pushed his hand away, took a handkerchief, wiped his face twice, tossed it aside, sighed softly, and asked in a deep voice, "Has any news come?"

Su Peisheng lowered his head. "Reporting to you, sir, there is no news at the moment." He paused for a moment, then asked, "Master, should we send more men?"

Yinzhen slammed his fist on the table in anger, and shouted, "Why can't we find her? There are always traces of a woman traveling outside. Tell the men below that if there is no news within five days, they will all be punished. I will not keep useless people."

He was worried that if this easy-going woman were to be bullied, he would be the one who would suffer the heartache and distress.
