"Qingfeng?"
Qingfeng glared fiercely at the person outside the door. Lüyun was bewildered and involuntarily took two steps back in fright.
Qingfeng took out another plate of warm pastries and placed it in front of her master, saying, "Reporting to your master, I heard from Eunuch Su that they are newly selected maids to serve you."
It was indeed a maidservant. Qingfeng deliberately concealed the word "personal attendant," as "personal attendant" meant that she would have to serve him in bed if necessary.
She didn't want to upset her master.
As Lvyun listened to her introduction, she lowered her head, her eyes flickered slightly, and the corners of her mouth lifted gently.
Nan Yiyuan didn't think much of it, took a bite of the pastry, and then suddenly a thought flashed through her mind. She felt something was off, put down her chopsticks, glanced at Qingfeng, and casually asked, "A maidservant?"
"Um, ah, no...no." Qingfeng hurriedly lowered her head to deny it, but her expression didn't quite convey the truth; her eyes were full of guilt.
Nan Yi felt a pang in her heart, her expression turned cold, and she turned her head to see the faint shyness in Lu Yun's eyes. The pastry in her mouth was too bitter, and she chewed it mechanically.
After a long silence, he asked, "What do you want?"
Green Cloud looked up and stole a glance at the exquisitely beautiful face in the room, and was instantly stunned.
Qingfeng frowned and coughed lightly to remind her.
Green Cloud quickly regained her senses. "Replying to Consort, the master instructed me to ask if Consort has eaten yet. If not, we will wait for him to come and eat together."
She stood with her head bowed, trying to appear calm, but countless thoughts flashed through her mind. A concubine? From the moment she learned of her master's identity, she knew her chance had come.
One day, she will be too.
Nan propped her forehead up with her arm and softly hummed in agreement. "I understand. You may leave."
"Yes." Green Cloud composed herself, not daring to look any longer, bowed and withdrew.
