Chapter Six: The Way Back

Yinzhen glared coldly at Tong Shi, and the already low temperature in the room plummeted. How could she have such a heinous thought? Women really shouldn't be spoiled. Take away the word "little," she really dares to say that.

His primary wife had been married to him for several years. While they weren't exactly loving, they treated each other with respect. He shouldn't have come today, nor should he have discussed the concubine with her. He was so easily angered that he lost his temper.

Nan Yi's fingertips dug into the floor. The Emperor's aura was too strong. It seemed she had underestimated him. Why couldn't she control that foul mouth? So be it, she wouldn't be a concubine for life anyway.

Why bother arguing with someone you're about to become a stranger to?

But she would never admit her mistake. What a joke! Who is she? She's always been fearless. God gave her courage, and she can't waste it.

Life is all about taking risks and making things interesting.

As the two were deep in thought, a maidservant came from outside to report whether dinner should be served. Yinzhen paused for a moment, then nodded.

Perhaps because Tong had just recovered from her illness, he went forward, picked up Tong who was lying on the ground, placed her on a chair, and sent a maid to bring warm water to help Tong wash her hands.

Even the two concubines in the mansion, including Lady Li who had two sons, did not receive such treatment.

Outsiders all say that the Fourth Prince is a man of principle, who would not favor his concubines over his wife, and that he would treat his concubines equally in his harem. But the Fourth Prince knows in his heart that he is also a womanizer.

Tong was stunningly beautiful, with a gentle yet somewhat dull nature. After taking her into his household, they spent a year together, and he truly cherished and doted on her for a while.

If she hadn't been jealous of Li Shi and nearly injured the pregnant Li Shi, indirectly reminding him that he had spoiled her too much, he probably would have continued to spoil her.

After washing his hands, Nan Yi learned his lesson this time and sat quietly without saying a word, waiting for his meal.

A moment later, several dishes of congee and side dishes were placed in front of her, along with a bowl of Chinese medicine and a dish of candied fruit. Glancing at the other person's dishes and smelling the aroma, she thought to herself, "They are indeed treating me differently." So she tentatively reached out her chopsticks to pick up a plate of crispy pork.

"Snap." The chopsticks were pressed down.

“Eat your own food; you cannot eat these for the time being,” Yinzhen said.

Nan Yi muttered, "Stingy."

She stirred the porridge unconsciously with the spoon, but didn't manage to scoop any into her mouth. Luckily, she had a big meal today.

Seeing her like this, Yinzhen gave a faint warning, "If you don't eat, you want to drink double the medicine," a blatant threat.

Upon hearing this, Nan's mouth formed an "O" shape, followed by the sound of chopsticks clattering against bowls and plates, and the congee and side dishes quickly disappeared.

She didn't want to take so much traditional Chinese medicine anymore, as it was completely incomparable to Western medicine.

This man is too wicked. He is incredibly perceptive and knows exactly how to exploit her weaknesses. In a fit of pique, she stuffed the porridge and medicine into her stomach. Afterward, she touched her very full belly and glared at Yinzhen, who was eating slowly and deliberately.

Upon closer inspection, although she was annoyed with him, she couldn't deny that he was indeed a very attractive man, and he did attract her a little. However, with her personality, it would be very difficult for her to get along with him.

After the meal, the two cleaned up. Nan noticed that it was already dusk outside, and the Fourth Master was still sitting there comfortably, flipping through the official documents he carried with him, showing no intention of leaving.

Nan Yi was a little depressed. Although he was her husband in name only, they had only met twice, and she didn't want to have any further interaction with him. She was reluctant to have any intimate contact with him as a couple.

Her other half must be a dashing and handsome man with superb martial arts skills, a chivalrous spirit, and who shares her ideals.

How to dissuade him from this idea? Just refuse him directly. People in ancient times valued face. As a prince, he shouldn't force her.

Yinzhen stuffed the official document he had finished reading into his sleeve. There was no sound around him for a while. He looked over with a hint of curiosity, paused for a moment, and then immediately got up and left.

Look at how restless she is. What does she take him for? I wouldn't do anything to someone with amnesia.

Nan breathed a sigh of relief when he saw him leave.

In a private room on the second floor of Huikeju, three handsome and elegant young men sat casually by the window chatting.

"Myna, do you think she'll come?"

The Eighth Prince lowered his eyes and said calmly, "...They will come." He wasn't really sure himself, but he said it with certainty, as if to comfort himself and others. The slight anxiety on his face did not escape the notice of the Ninth Prince.

"If you ask me, Eighth Brother, Ninth Brother, even if she doesn't come, we can still look for her. It's not like we can't find her."

The Tenth Prince was simple-minded; he wouldn't dwell on such things. The Eighth and Ninth Princes exchanged a wry smile. They could search, but now was not the time.

"What are you looking for? Didn't you say not to look for me without permission?" Suddenly a clear female voice rang out, and a masked woman walked in through the door. It was Nan Yi, who had been waiting for a long time.

The two glared at the Tenth Prince, silently cursing him for being a jinx.

The sudden appearance of Nan Yi at the door surprised and delighted the three of them.

Receiving his brothers' resentful looks, the Tenth Prince quickly came up with a clever response, "I was saying I'd find you something delicious," he gestured to the two of them, as if to say, "Well done, wasn't I?"

Nan Yi looked delighted. "Really? I have plenty of time today. Let's go out for a stroll." She had come out today after revealing herself to Qingyun. Qingyun refused and insisted on going with her, so she smashed the kang table with her bare hands and gracefully left under Qingyun's astonished gaze.

Nan Yi lifted a corner of her veil and reached for the teacup on the table. She was still wearing a veil when she went out today. Who knew if they would recognize her? The capital city was only so big.

She downed her tea, then noticed a full cup next to her. She picked it up and drank it, and as soon as she put the cup down, she saw the three of them looking dazed. Confused, she raised her hand to touch her veil. Nothing had fallen off. Why were they all so in sync?

The Eighth Prince lightly covered his lips with a folding fan, coughed twice, his face inexplicably flushed, and turned his head to pretend to admire the scenery outside.

The Tenth Prince glanced at the Eighth Prince's cup, then at his own, feeling increasingly frustrated. The Ninth Prince, his eyes dark, chuckled and picked up his own teacup, pushing it towards Nan Yi, asking with unusual eagerness, "Are you still thirsty?"
