Yiren, her eyes gleaming with longing, brought over the box. "Master, try this one," she said, taking one out and putting it on Nan.
“It’s beautiful and suits you perfectly,” Yiren praised.
Nan Yi chuckled, tried on the pendant, and then put it back. Yi Ren was puzzled and said, "Why don't you wear it? It looks especially good with your crimson palace dress." Yi Ren advised.
Qingyun chimed in, "Yes, Master, put it on."
Nan clapped his hands. "Now is not the time. Put it away." The two girls were puzzled, but they didn't say anything.
Qingyun took a soft towel and wiped the Jadeite Cabbage. Actually, there was no dust on it at all, but she just wanted to hold it a little longer to feast her eyes. Nan Yi found it amusing but ignored her.
When Aunt Qiu arrived, there was no one guarding outside. She frowned, thinking that the servants in the courtyard still lacked manners and needed to be properly disciplined. She looked around, then lifted the curtain and came in. Seeing that none of the three had noticed her, she coughed.
Qingyun was startled by the sound and almost dropped Baicai. Yiren accidentally pulled Nanyi's hair.
"Aunt Qiu, you scared us!" Qingyun said, still holding the cabbage.
"Why is there no one guarding outside? What if someone else came in now?" Qiu Ma said with a stern face.
“Huan’er is here with me; she came with me,” Yiren said.
Aunt Qiu shook her head, but said to Nan Yi, "This old servant met Huan'er on the road. She went to the main kitchen to get Master's breakfast."
Qiu Ma's eyes were full of disappointment. They were all young girls, not mature and clever enough. If they were in the palace, they would probably be devoured without a trace.
As Qiu's mother spoke, she approached and saw the cabbage Qingyun was carrying. "Huh?" she exclaimed, taking it in her hands to examine it closely. "Where did it come from?" she asked.
“It belongs to the master,” Qingyun said.
