Chapter 21 Are you afraid of me?

He suddenly realized that it wasn't unreasonable for his weariness to fade when he saw her messages these past few days.

After Su Er said that, the boss could no longer keep a cold face and his tone became more amiable, "Miss, I don't have any private rooms here. Why don't you ask somewhere else?"

She bowed in thanks, then ran back to him, panting, looking at his face as if she wanted to say something but hesitated, "Mr. Jiang, perhaps... you could try another place..."

Su Er was waiting for his answer when a car parked not far away suddenly made a soft sound as the door opened and closed.

The secretary brought over his phone, nodded politely to Su Er, and then said, "Sir, there is an urgent document that you need to go back and deal with."

Su Er returned a smile and tactfully avoided eye contact, standing a little further away.

She looked up at the dark sky to pass the time, hoping to see if there were any stars.

Unfortunately, the clouds were very thick.

It wasn't until Jiang Siyan called her from behind, "Er'er, let's go."

Su Er walked up to him, pointed to the shop's entrance, and asked in a daze, "Aren't you going to eat?"

"Something's come up, I'll take you home first."

Su Er refused decisively, "No need, Sister Qin said she would come to pick me up, you can go ahead and do your work."

After saying that, she even showed him her chat history with Lin Shuqin. Lin Shuqin had just sent her a message, which showed that it was almost there.

The company was pressing him urgently, and he really had no time to delay any longer.

Jiang Siyan had his secretary bring her a coat, wrapped it around her, and instructed her, "Send me a message when you get back to the hotel."

Su Er blinked, feeling that it was unnecessary.

She doesn't have the habit of reporting her itinerary to people she's not familiar with.

But Su Er still obediently agreed.

Jiang Siyan seemed to see through her insincerity, took her hand hanging by her side, and gently massaged her wrist.

Su Er was a beat slow to try and shake him off.

Jiang Siyan tightened his grip, not letting her win.

Su Er frowned and glared at him, clearly angry, her voice booming as if she were rebuking a heinous lecher: "Mr. Jiang!"

Jiang Siyan held her slender wrist and asked in a low voice, "Aren't your hands tired from copying and pasting every day?"

Su Er was taken aback, but quickly realized that he was referring to the message she had sent him.

Su Er wasn't ashamed at all, and looked at him with her head held high, "Aren't you the same?"

Jiang Siyan laughed without hesitation, "Then I'll apologize to you?"

"I can't accept that." Su Er calmed down, no longer caring whether he was still holding her hand, and bowed to him. "I'm sorry, sir, I won't send you any more messages."

This is something that cannot be said in the slightest.

He had just thought she was a gentle person, but now she seemed to have been shot.

His tone softened involuntarily, a gentle coaxing that he himself was unaware of, a sign of his helplessness towards her.

“Er'er, I’m so glad you messaged me.”

How can I describe this moment?

Many years later, after they had separated, Su Er looked back and recalled this scene.

She asked herself if she would still succumb to the same fate if given another chance.

She thought to herself with a self-deprecating smile, "It still will."

It was the kind of mistake she would knowingly make even though she already knew the outcome.

For this moment, for the pure and innocent heartbeat she felt when she met him at the age of twenty-three.
