Chapter 19 is just for fun.

Su Er squinted at her phone screen, which was still displaying the message she had sent to Sister Qin last night.

She buried her chin in her knees and said, "It was just a meal. I still owe him one."

Lin Shuqin snorted and looked at her suspiciously: "That's all? Nothing else happened?"

What else?

Did he call her Er'er? Or did they smoke together?

She had no choice but to go over everything from last night in her mind again, and the throbbing pain in the back of her head became more and more pronounced.

Su Er could only bury her head even lower, take a deep breath and say, "Sister Qin, what could it be? You see, I even told you when I got back to the hotel."

Lin Shuqin looked at the fluffy head with a sense of helplessness, but did not expose her secret.

She had been busy all night and had managed to stay awake until now; her face was etched with exhaustion.

Lin Shuqin sat down against the edge of the bed, gently patted her back, and asked, "Xiao Er, do you know what his background is?"

Su Er looked up, somewhat bewildered.

Lin Shuqin took out her phone, opened the news app, and clicked on the picture that appeared on the homepage.

The words "Lirui Group" were particularly eye-catching on the news headline.

That was a name that Su Er was very familiar with, even though she didn't usually pay special attention to financial news.

Su Er stared at the dense text without saying a word.

She knew everything, from the unique license plate number to how others treated him.

Some things are self-evident without needing to be explicitly stated.

“I’m not saying you shouldn’t have contact with him.” Lin Shuqin stroked her hair and pointed out realistically and bluntly: “Logically speaking, there are benefits to having contact with him. Your path in the entertainment industry will be much easier. At least, you will have fewer dirty tricks in front of you and more opportunities.”

Lin Shuqin rationally analyzed from the perspective of her career development that in the adult world, interests are the standard for measuring the value of many things.

In the entertainment industry, this value system is used in almost 95% of cases.

In short, it's acceptable to have ulterior motives for one's own benefit.

But if it's for some vague and fleeting emotion, then that's just plain stupid.

Lin Shuqin sighed softly, her tone full of affection, "Xiao Er, I'm afraid you'll get caught up in it."

The pride and aloofness that never faded from her bones were a symbol of her still retaining her innocent and childlike nature.

And facing someone like Jiang Siyan, this naiveté could easily make her fall for him.

Just like last night, Lin Shuqin would rather she had declined the dinner party as she always had, and then she would have been scolded and had a big fight with her.

This at least proves that Jiang Siyan was no different in her eyes.

But she didn't.

Thinking of this, Lin Shuqin felt even more threatened, and her breathing became much heavier. She flicked Su Er's forehead and said, "Did you hear what I said?!"

Su Er clutched her forehead, groaning in pain, then wrapped her arm around her shoulder and leaned on her shoulder, coaxing her to make a promise: "I've taken it to heart! We've seen plenty of these kinds of things in the industry, I won't get involved."

She smiled coquettishly, perfectly portraying the image of a scumbag: "Just playing around, right?"

Lin Shuqin glared at her, "Stop giving me those sweet words."

Su Er stuck out her tongue and made a face, then tried to wrap herself back in the blanket and lie down again.

Lin Shuqin quickly pulled her out of bed, "Okay, get up quickly, we'll be late filming."

Su Er sighed deeply, "I want to sleep in!"

*

As the weather in Beicheng gradually warmed up in April, Su Er's life did not sprout new greenery with the arrival of spring.

Nothing particularly noteworthy; he spent his days shuttling between the film set and the hotel.

The only difference is that there is one more fixed recipient to whom messages are sent each day.

"There's only one week left in filming, right?" Lin Shuqin rolled up a piece of paper and tapped her head with it.

Su Er sat in the chair reading the script and lazily hummed in agreement.

Her scenes for today are finished. She'll be leaving soon after there aren't any more shots to film.

People were coming and going on set. Lin Shuqin leaned close to her ear and whispered, "What did that person say?"

Su Er looked up blankly, "Huh? Who?"

Lin Shuqin pinched her playfully and glared at her, "Who else could it be?"

Su Er realized what was happening, said "Oh," and shrugged, "He said he was busy."

Playing dumb is a trick that only works once; using it again is just treating people like fools.

Therefore, she started sending invitations to Jiang Siyan after that night.

Su Er carefully edited the message and sent it: "Mr. Jiang, if you have time, I'd like to invite you to dinner again and return the clothes to you while we're at it."

Add a smiling emoji.

Polite and courteous.

Jiang Siyan was slow to reply to messages; a message sent around noon would not be answered until evening.

It can be summarized in just six words, plus a punctuation mark.

"Sorry, I'm busy today."

The cold words and the person who called her "Er'er" that night seemed like two completely different people.

Su Er even felt like she was having a conversation with a human-machine interface.

Su Er wondered to herself, what's her zodiac sign?

She even said she'd let her have her way, what a liar!

She sent it to him every day, and Jiang Siyan replied every night.

Whenever he replies with "I'm busy right now," she always manages to respond in a different way.

However, the neatness of the information in their chat box is so good that even someone with obsessive-compulsive disorder would applaud it.

So much so that when Su Er looked through the chat history, she couldn't help but wonder if Jiang Siyan was retaliating for the fact that she had repeatedly rejected him during their last phone call.
