The silence lasted the whole way, with rain pattering against the car window, making a dull "drip-drip" sound.
Despite the white noise being perfect for falling asleep, Su Er's drowsiness had long since vanished.
She stared out the window, and when she saw the familiar street scene, she leaned forward slightly, her fingertips gripping the back of the passenger seat.
She lowered her voice, afraid of disturbing the person sleeping soundly beside her, "Could you please stop at the turn ahead?"
Although it was already past midnight, quite a few actors were still finishing their scenes at this hour.
There have already been enough rumors about her lately, and if she's seen getting out of such an expensive car, she'll probably become the subject of gossip again.
Besides, if paparazzi are squatting outside the hotel and take a picture, it will cause trouble for Sister Qin, and she will definitely get scolded.
The driver glanced at the rearview mirror, looking somewhat troubled.
Since Jiang Siyan didn't speak, he could only refuse, "I'm sorry, Miss, why don't you ask Mr. Jiang?"
Su Er's heart sank. Compared to waking Jiang Siyan, it seemed that being criticized or scolded wasn't so hard to accept.
Just as my lower back was about to press back against the chair, that lazy voice rang out at just the right moment.
"parking."
The car then turned and drove to the side of the road.
The awkwardness she felt because of him was resolved without her even having to say a word.
Su Er said thank you, and before the car came to a complete stop, she asked softly, "Do you have a moment?"
Jiang Siyan leisurely raised his eyes to look at her, his eyebrows raised playfully.
This wasn't the first time he'd heard such words. According to the usual routine, the little girl in front of him should smile charmingly and then say, "If you have time, I'd like to invite you up for a seat."
Su Er remained calm and said, word by word, "If you have time, please wait here for a moment, and I will go get your clothes."
Fearing he might get impatient, she added, "It'll only take a few minutes."
She adopted a respectful but distant attitude towards him, clearly indicating that she wanted to distance herself from him.
He wasn't blind to her clear-headed and cautious nature, but it seemed he wasn't so bad that she would avoid him like this.
Jiang Siyan wasn't the type to always have the leisure to make a fool of himself; the moonlight reflecting in his eyes revealed his cold-hearted nature.
It's just a piece of clothing.
He said casually, "Next time."
next time?
Their relationship was purely by chance, and she never imagined it would happen again.
He said it casually, but she was the one who owed him a favor, which made Su Er have to carefully try to figure out his thoughts.
After hesitating for a moment, Su Er cautiously asked, "When...is the next time?"
Her excessive seriousness made her tone sound somewhat stubborn.
Jiang Siyan looked at that pretty face with a slightly scrutinizing gaze, then smiled with relief.
He was somewhat at a loss with her serious demeanor. She usually pretended to be mature, but she was still clueless about interpersonal relationships.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have said such an interesting thing in the elevator.
Why would he argue with a little girl?
Jiang Siyan chuckled knowingly, "That's all up to you, Er'er."
Su Er was momentarily stunned. It hadn't been long, but she seemed to have already gotten used to this extremely intimate way of addressing her.
She was really struggling to resist the ambiguous tone, like a lover's whisper in her ear when passion was at its peak.
She clutched her shawl tightly, her hand on the doorknob, ready to open it. "Well, Mr. Jiang, see you next time."
Jiang Siyan frowned, grabbed her slender wrist, and teased her, "Why are you running? It's raining outside, don't you know you should bring an umbrella?"
Su Er twisted her wrist slightly but couldn't break free. She argued, "I'm wearing a shawl, this short distance won't be a problem."
Jiang Siyan coaxed her gently, "You won't even let me walk you to the door. If you get caught in the rain and get cold, then it will be my fault."
Before the words were even finished, the driver had already turned on his hazard lights, gotten out of the car, opened his umbrella, and then opened the car door.
In an instant, wind and rain swept into the car, and raindrops formed dark ink-like spots on the hem of her clothes.
Jiang Siyan released her hand and said, "Let's go back."
"goodbye."
Once her feet touched the ground, she took the umbrella, whispered her thanks, and jogged towards the hotel without looking back.
The water splashed onto her shoes, making them feel cool. Su Er didn't slow down, as if only in this way could she extinguish the strange flutter in her heart.
The car started again, and Jiang Siyan glanced at the rearview mirror; the little girl's figure was quite eye-catching.
He smiled dismissively, closed his eyes again, and ordered, "Back to Dongfeng Lane."
The car reached the traffic light, made a U-turn, and drove in the exact opposite direction.
There was no such thing as going the same way; I just wanted to give her a ride.
Su Er returned to her room and quickly took off her shawl.
Even though she was holding an umbrella, the wind was strong, and she inevitably got a layer of mist on her clothes, so she took a clothes hanger out of the closet.
Just as I was about to hang it up, my wrist paused involuntarily. The black suit jacket hanging in the corner of the wardrobe, like its owner, was an undeniable presence.
The tingling, burning sensation on her wrist seemed to return, and Su Er shook her head abruptly, then quickly closed the cabinet door, feeling somewhat guilty, shutting out all those inappropriate thoughts.
She took her clothes into the bathroom, and before running the water, Su Er sent Lin Shuqin a message, briefly letting her know: "I'm back at the hotel."
After finishing her skincare routine, it was already past 2 a.m. Lin Shuqin was probably still busy and didn't reply to her.
Su Er didn't wait for anyone; weariness had already enveloped her mind. She turned off the light and fell asleep immediately.
That night, she had a very long dream.
The person in her dream breathed warmly into her ear, pinched her earlobe, and chuckled softly, calling her, "Er'er."
At seven o'clock in the morning, the alarm clock rang on time.
With her eyes closed, Su Er reached for her phone from the bedside table and, relying on muscle memory, accurately turned off the incessantly ringing ringtone.
She stayed wrapped in the blanket for a few more minutes before finally managing to sit up in bed.
Due to lack of sleep, her already fair complexion appeared unusually pale. Su Er rubbed the back of her head, which had been aching slightly all night.
Thinking of the person who had disturbed her entire dream, she hugged the blanket and muttered a curse under her breath, "Bastard, can't even let me sleep in peace."
Half-asleep, Su Er was startled when the curtains were suddenly pulled open, clutching her chest and letting out a scream.
The sunlight was so bright that she couldn't open her eyes, so Su Er quickly pulled the blanket tighter and tried to make out the figure in front of the window.
"Sister Qin?" Su Er breathed a sigh of relief and patted her chest. "You scared me."
The blanket slipped off her shoulders, revealing the smooth, flowing lines of her shoulders and neck.
Lin Shuqin looked at her with displeasure, scrutinizing her carefully. Seeing nothing amiss, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Lin Shuqin, with one hand on her hip and the other holding her phone, interrogated her: "Tell me, what do you mean by 'went out to dinner with Jiang Siyan'?"
