Chapter 116 What a heartless person!

"What did you say?" Jiang Siyan thought he had misheard.

Su Er met his eyes and no longer hesitated, "I say let's break up, Jiang Siyan."

He heard every word clearly this time.

Jiang Siyan sneered and moved closer to her, "You're going to break up with me for this man?"

Su Er tried to avoid his gaze, but as she turned her head, he grabbed her chin and forced her to raise it.

His tone was forceful as he stared intently at her, "Su Er, speak."

Su Er couldn't stand his condescending gaze or his superior tone.

She stopped avoiding his gaze, her eyes red as she met his eyes, her stubbornness striking him deeply. "Jiang Siyan, you've never respected me, have you?"

Despite being together for so long, he had never watched any of her films, let alone learned about her work.

Jiang Siyan was her boyfriend in name only, but she couldn't confide her work troubles to him like a normal couple.

Even though Su Er really wanted to snuggle up on the sofa with him, watch a movie she starred in, and talk about the funny things that happened when she filmed that scene.

But she was afraid that Jiang Siyan would think she was naive, and she was also afraid that he would misunderstand that her complaints were an unspoken request to him.

Therefore, she never expected him to spend his precious time to understand her work.

But now that I think about it, even if I understood, what difference would it make? In his eyes, a movie is probably only about whether it has a good or bad impact and whether it has a high or low box office.

"In your heart, is my work, the plays I act in, just like children playing house?" The pain on her cheeks stimulated her tear ducts. Su Er stubbornly refused to let the tears blur her vision and stay in her eyes, rather than let them fall.

She gave a self-deprecating smile. "Jiang Siyan, do you also agree with what your family says, that I'm just an actress?"

She saw the news that day.

Did I ever worry? Probably I did.

He never set a password for Su Er on his phone. That night, when he walked out of his room and saw the message his father had sent, he wondered if the little girl had seen it.

However, Su Er never mentioned this matter to him again. Besides, he had a clear conscience. In his eyes, what Jiang Zhuoli said was just a way for his father to show his authority, and it had no decisive effect whatsoever.

Even if Su Er knew, he still felt that it wasn't something that couldn't be explained.

Jiang Siyan was puzzled. It was a problem that he could handle with ease, so why did he feel helpless when he saw her eyes filled with tears?

The grip on his hand loosened without her realizing it, and Su Er seized the opportunity to slap his hand away, stand up, and create distance between them. Wiping away the tears that hadn't yet fallen, she said, "Anyway, you're getting married soon, aren't you? Why do you have to hold me back? We..."

His empty palms left him with a moment of melancholy, but upon hearing this, Jiang Siyan sensed something was wrong and decisively interrupted her, "Who told you I was getting married?"

At this point, there's nothing left to hide.

It was a kind of cruel calm. Su Er didn't turn around. She supported herself on the table with one hand, which became her only support so that she wouldn't fall. She simply stated calmly, "That young lady's surname is Cheng, isn't it? Your parents are very satisfied with her, and your families are well-matched."

The room was dark, and Jiang Siyan's profile, hidden in the moonlight, no longer had its usual carefree air. His furrowed brows showed a hint of anxiety and frustration. "Where did you hear all this? I won't marry her. This isn't up to my parents to decide."

He explained it very clearly, so what?

His marriage is not decided by his parents, nor will she be involved, is it?

The reason for today's argument is no longer important. Jiang Siyan has obviously realized that his inexplicable jealousy today is quite abnormal.

The simple word "possessiveness" is no longer enough to explain the dull pain welling up in my heart.

Jiang Siyan got up and walked behind her, lowered his head and rested his chin on her shoulder, his nose gently rubbing against her neck. The familiar fragrance soothed the slight sense of loss and unease.

His lips brushed against her skin, his low voice carrying a coaxing tone, "Alright, Er'er, all that talk about my marriage is completely fabricated, don't overthink it, okay?"

Su Er knew how difficult it was to get someone like him, who had held a high position for so long, to bow his head.

Actually, upon closer reflection, Su Er is quite content with this relationship. She has gained a lot, including Jiang Siyan's humility more than once.

But this time, it seems that there is no longer any sense of satisfaction or smugness.

She grasped his wrist, which was wrapped around her waist, and no longer lingered because of the warmth of the touch. She gently brushed it away, her tone calm and resolute, "Jiang Siyan, let's end this here."

How deep a bond can be forged during this time spent together?

He was probably willing to lower himself to coax her, but that was all. Once or twice was already the limit.

He wasn't the type to unconditionally lower his stance and compromise when faced with harsh words and cold remarks.

Jiang Siyan's chest was still pressed against her back, their body temperatures still touching, but his tone was no longer as gentle and tender as before.

He gazed at her straight spine, a complex mix of emotions welling up inside him, but he still chuckled softly and asked in a nonchalant tone, "Have you thought it through?"

"yes."

He then asked, "No regrets?"

"No."
