Su Er's eyes flickered, and she said, "I don't quite remember."
She had recovered from a concussion for a while and thought everything was fine, but as the side effects of the concussion gradually subsided, she started having trouble sleeping again.
She smiled and said, "But I'm already seeing a therapist, so it should be fine..."
Before she finished speaking, Jiang Siyan tightened his grip around her waist, as if afraid she would run away.
She placed her warm hand on the back of his hand and asked softly, "What's wrong?"
The warm breath exhaled from her nose sprayed onto the side of her neck, and Su Er subconsciously shrank her neck.
His nose lightly brushed against the most sensitive inch of skin on the back of Su Er's neck, and he asked in a low voice, "Are you still angry with me?"
Jiang Siyan was not unaware that Su Er was no longer as at ease in front of him as before.
The coquettishness and anger of the past are now rare.
"No," Su Er denied in a flat tone.
Not content with just looking at her profile, Jiang Siyan grabbed her shoulders and flipped her over. Su Er, holding the cup in her hands, exclaimed in a low voice, "It's going to spill!"
Jiang Siyan took the cup from her hand, pulled her to sit down on the chair, casually put the cup on the table, and then scooped Su Er into his arms.
Su Er was wearing a heavy down jacket and was being held on his lap like a plush toy.
The hands around her waist were very tight, their heat almost palpable even through her clothes.
Su Er pushed him: "What... are you doing?"
She was now meek and submissive, a far cry from the arrogant demeanor she had when she sat on his lap and commanded him to kiss her.
He felt sorry for her, but what could he do? He really couldn't do anything about her right now.
Jiang Siyan pinched her cheek lightly as if to vent his anger, "Now you like lying so much."
Su Er remained silent, and Jiang Siyan did not press the matter further.
The two stayed on the terrace for a while, and Aunt Cui called them down to have dessert, which was a freshly delivered golden milk pastry.
It was delicious, but Su Er couldn't eat anything right now. She only took a few bites before putting it down.
She glanced at Aunt Cui's back, then at Jiang Siyan sitting next to her.
Su Er couldn't tell if Jiang Siyan was angry about what had just happened. After some hesitation, she bit her lower lip and quietly tugged at his sleeve.
She gave him a pleading look, but Jiang Siyan raised an eyebrow, showing no intention of solving the problem for her.
Su Er silently prepared to pull her hand back, but Jiang Siyan suddenly pressed down on the back of her hand and reached for the half-eaten pastry.
Su Er stared at him, puzzled. The next second, her arm was passively raised slightly, her fingertips brushing against her soft lips.
Half a pastry was thus consumed.
"Little Er," Aunt Cui called to her.
Su Er quickly withdrew her hand, lowered her head, and hummed in agreement.
"Stay here tonight. The sheets and blankets are all new, and I've prepared all your clothes. It's not safe to drive for too long at night." Aunt Cui, oblivious to the unusual undercurrent between her and Jiang Siyan, warmly greeted her.
Su Er didn't listen carefully to what Aunt Cui was saying and casually replied, "Okay."
When she finally realized what was wrong, Aunt Cui was already happily preparing to go upstairs to get her toiletries.
She once again turned her pleading gaze to Jiang Siyan, who lazily shrugged and spread his hands, meaning that he couldn't do anything about what she had promised herself.
Su Er wasn't particularly averse to staying here, but after being apart for so long, she felt awkward about lying in the same bed with Jiang Siyan again.
Lying together, what do you talk about?
She was afraid that Jiang Siyan would ask her questions she couldn't answer, just like before.
However, since things had come to this point, Su Er pursed her lips and took a few minutes to accept the situation. Since she had already come back here with him, there seemed to be no need to be coy.
After Aunt Cui said everything was ready, she went to take a shower.
I kept telling myself it was okay, but the shower still took longer than usual.
Fortunately, just as Su Er finished her dawdling shower and came out, Jiang Siyan received a phone call. "I have an urgent meeting to attend. You go to sleep first."
Su Er nodded vigorously, secretly delighted.
Jiang Siyan glanced at her and said irritably, "Be careful with your neck, you just took off your neck brace."
His eyes always seemed to see right through her. Su Er didn't dare to meet Jiang Siyan's gaze. She stammered a reply and ran to bed, holding her phone, looking like a serious good student.
But Jiang Siyan knew that the girl was avoiding communicating with him.
She's stubborn, so things can only be done little by little; you can't rush it.
When Su Er heard the door close, her eyes slowly lost focus, and her thoughts began to wander uncontrollably again.
I think about all sorts of random things, and the more I think, the more chaotic my mind becomes.
She turned off the light, lay down on her pillow, and tried to calm herself down that way.
Unfortunately, it was all in vain.
Su Er had no choice but to take out her phone again to scroll through the screen. After some time, she faintly heard approaching footsteps.
This was thanks to her experience reading novels in high school. Su Er glanced at the time and realized it was already late.
She hurriedly turned off the screen, stuffed her phone under her pillow, closed her eyes, and fully demonstrated her superb acting skills.
Jiang Siyan pushed open the door. The room was pitch black, and the breathing coming from the bed was steady and calm, as if the person had been asleep for a long time.
Jiang Siyan walked to the bedside and stared at her for a while before turning around and going into the bathroom.
